However, what Karlos had realised in this time of exterminating the village, was that not a single person was an actual able-bodied youth. Not a single one of those who had attacks Karlos' original body were present, even though their footsteps clearly showed that they had come here.
Clearly, the group had only stayed at the village for a short amount of time before leaving.
After searching for a little while, Karlos actually found footsteps of a large number of people leaving the village.
Normally, Jack could be of help in situations like these, zooming out and looking at the situation from his 'God' perspective. However, what frustrated Jack the most was that in this Northern Continent, he could not see anything. The only perspective he could see anything was from the first-person viewpoint of Karlos. As soon as he zoomed out, everything would become blurry and a mysterious and thick fog would cover the entire continent.
Jack had a strange feeling every time he looked at this fog. It was slightly similar to the fog created in small places where the other gods' had a lot of believers. However, it felt different to that fog. That fog was former from the belief of believers and followers accumulating into a barrier of sorts against the prying of other gods.
By now, even his Kingdom of Cayden had begun forming a thin layer of fog. Naturally, this Fog was created from the believers of his own religion, and therefore was completely see-through for him, but not the same for the other gods.
On the other hand, the fog that surrounded the entirety of the Northern continent, was unusual. It was not like the fog of believers, nor like any other fog. It was unbelievably thick, and contained a sort of stagnant feeling which made Jack feel like he remembered this energy somewhere. However, no matter what he tried, he could not remember where.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
He even bought a memory reclamation device from the CP shop to try and get it to remember, but nonetheless, it failed.
This fog gave Jack the sense of something that went against nature. It was similar to his own existence; however, his power was not rejected by the world. On the contrary, this fog seemed to be fighting with the world itself. It felt like the fog and the world were stuck in a stalemate. The Fog could not move beyond the northern continent due to the power of the world stopping it, at the same time, this fog felt like a sticky substance which did not seem to want to get off the world. No matter what the world did, it could not get the fog out.
Due to his curiosity, Jack decided to allow Karlos to follow the footsteps to continue his quest towards revenge for the body he took over as a sort of repayment for the one whose body it was, and instead called up the only other god he had friendly relations with which did not seem like they were faked.
"Yes? Is the item ready?"
"Tch, the only thing you can think of is that. Seriously, let me just inform you that I will mostly be unable to get it in the near future. I will have to break free of this deal, and at the very least, I would need to reach you level as a god. Then I might have a possibility of gaining that item for you."
"Then what it is?" Ares spoke with slight dissatisfaction, but at the same time he understood the God of System's situation and did not cause troubles with someone who had even opened up his base on the prime plane. In essence, the core location of a God's location was the strongest place for developed gods like Ares who had been around for hundreds of thousands of years. However, for a God who had just recently settled down, despite how strong they themselves might be, their core location for believers was essentially their weakest point. As long as a strong enough force could attack that location, the new god would no longer have enough faith to grow, and might even slowly dissipate.
"I wanted to ask about that Northern Continent"
"NORTHERN CONTINENT!" Shock, Anger, and slight hints of fury could be heard in Ares' voice as he exclaimed.
"Why are you screaming?"
