Poison

While Jack was searching for a nation to kick-start his church, Alice and the army had already been moving toward the next battlefield.

Since the terrain was a forest, the army had planned to split up into squads, with the squad leaders acting as guides.

While Alice had been trying to study the map, she was given by the lieutenant, a notification suddenly had popped up.

She did not have enough experience, but she would have enough when she levelled up, and that was he goal. As long as she would find something to kill within the forest during her upcoming journey, she would be able to level up.

That is why currently she was looking at the map with intense focus to try and figure out where she was. But the truth was that she was so excited at getting the option to buy a new skill that she did not pay attention to the instructions given to her before they set off.

All in all, she was lost until she would find a few beasts to kill and level up.

“We are lost are we not?”

“Shh! The captain might hear you!”

Hushed whispers were running wild between the squad members, who were now looking up to and fearing Alice as their true squad leader.

“Tch. Come on guys, we will be moving this way.” Alice said while moving in a certain direction.

A brief moment later, she was already moving in a direction that was slightly to the right from where she was initially moving.

While Alice was in search of prey to level up, and hopefully figure out where she was, Heron was busy farming monsters right and left, trying to find some resemblance of civilisation.

He had been stranded in the dessert head for nearly 2 weeks now, and was getting really frustrated.

Although he could eat most of the monsters he killed, they tasted like shit. Some of the stuff was even considered poison, and the system had to intervene and save him.

“Ack! When will I be able to get out of here?!”

While poor old Heron was suffering from frustration, and Alice was as lost as, well, Alice could be, Mason had finally entered Ferdin.

He purposely did not do any suspicious actions due to the quest, and was instead chatting away with Fort Night [1].

“So, is there an inn which is good to stay in? Not too expensive, since my finances are a little tight for the moment.”

“Hmm.” Fortnight took a moment to think before saying.

“If you want a cheap inn, why not go to ‘Red Inn’. It is the inn all of us RedForce folk used the most often, and it is likely you will see at least some members of the Red Force Mercenary there, especially since it is part of the RedForce.”

“Hmm, alright then.”

Mason agreed to stay at Red Inn, since it would most definitely be safer than normal inns.

Somehow, none of the members of RedForce notices the poison being injected into them.

‘I wonder why they look just fine and dandy?’

[1] If there is one thing I regret; it is the name right here as a joke. I feel so Cringey whenever I type this, and my fingers just slow down as though they are weighed down by the tonnes of cringeness emanating from the single name.
