Divine Punishment?

Divine Punishment?

While Mason was having breakfast in before heading to the arena at the heart of the capital, the kingdom of Cayden had begun its revolution.

Posters with this were put up throughout the capital…

==============

His Majesty Ken August has called for an audience. Everyone is invited.

==============

Nothing much was written, and this was a strategy by SPU to attract the curiosity of people, without making them feel forced to come.

Soon enough, nearly a thousand people had gathered at the worn-down centre of the capital, where a temporary stage had been bult of some wooden boxes and barrels. Naturally, a small part of the entire stage was actually built sturdily, which was the path the speaker would use. The rest was just for show.

Soon, a figure walked up on stage and began speaking.

“I’m sure I do not need to introduce myself. I am Ken August, the ruler of this kingdom. As you all might had experienced by now, the kingdom is not is an ‘appealing’ state of affairs….”

The king’s speech went on for some more time before he got to the main point [1]

“However, all of that changes from this day forward. I would like to introduce someone.” Ken said as he pointed to his left, where a pan seemed to materialise instantly. This man was wearing rather fashionable white clothes, with a black mask, white top hat, and a wooden cane which seemed to be as light as a feather.

The man gave a slight bow to the audience and introduced himself.

“Hello. I am the lord’s humble servant and pope of the church of the God of Systems, as well as the advisor to his Highness Ken.”

Silence reined in the area as everyone stared at the man for a while. Suddenly, one man seemed to understand something as he whispered to the person next to him, while stealing the man’s wallet.

“Is he the pope of a god? Does that mean Cayden will finally have a religion?”

Whispers continued to spread as the man who spoke first opened the wallet, which was basically just a cloth bag, only to find a few rocks in it, with absolutely no money.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

The man who received the whisper snatched back the now empty bag and snickered at the first man. [2]

However, this episode of failed thievery did not stop the flow of the information.

“Hmph, if this guy is a pope, then I am god.” Said one certain person, which caused an intense reaction from SPU.

“Blasphemy-”

SPU’s voice turned ice cold as his figure instantly vanished, before reappearing back on the stage, with the man’s neck in his hands, struggling to breath while flailing his arms like a madman.

“Argh! Kuak! Kuhuakh!”

“How dare you slander the name of the lord!”

At this point, SPU threw the man into the air, and was about to smite the very atoms of the man form existence for slandering his-lord, and by extension, himself, however, he suddenly stopped as his eyes became even more mysterious than they were before. This was the sign that Jack was taking control.

The angry expression became calm, and an air of mystery surrounded the man in white. Most people, who had closed their eyes and were awaiting the gruesome scene soon realised nothing happened and opened their eyes and noticed the changes in the man on white.

Soon, a blue divine brilliance began emanating from the heavens, which was recognised by most people in the world, even though they had never experienced it themselves.

The people felt it from their very existences. This was the divine descent of a god.

“Little one. You should learn to control yourself. One should control yourself until you unravel the complete truth before taking action. Patience is a virtue,” spoke not the man in white, but the blue divine radiance from within the man in white, as the one who was about to be obliterated was returned to the crowd completely unscathed. The blue light engulfed the man in white and formed a much taller man, nearly 3 meters tall, wrapped in a simple cloth long enough to cover the entire body and form a hood. Also had a blue screen floating in its hand.

This was the image Jack had thought himself to look like, by taking inspiration from how the other gods looked, and built his own image off of them

The image of god should be noble without being extravagant, and most importantly, should be unique and represent one’s own domain of existence.

Naturally, Jack had added the fact that he was a human into the image, unlike the images of Sparta and the other gods.

“I do not wish to force anyone to do anything. However, I can see a dormant ember within each of you. I can sense a desire within you, a desire to not stagnate. A desire to move forward. A desire to be remembered. However, you cannot do so because of your living conditions.”

“I came here not to force you. Do not misunderstand. I do not help people. I merely show them the path to achieve their goals. Reaching that point is up to you to work to that point.”

“That is all”

With that, the divine brilliance emanating from the man in white, along with the entire being made of blue light retracted back into the sky, leaving a kneeling audience.

Every single human, animal and other creatures were bowing down to SPU. Even the king could not help but kneel slightly at the magnificence of a true god. When he had previously met Jack, the king had not felt any pressure at all, just the realisation that he was talking directly to a god. However, this time around, Jack had used 1 CP, which was basically divinity, to display his might to the people, without making them feel frightened or hurt.

[1] Nah. That ain’t true. I just could not think up of what lines someone of a half-dilapidated kingdom would tell his ‘oh so chique’ subjects.

[2] Lol, we have the king of trolls here.
