Back in the kingdom of Bard, Mason had just finished his third and last fight of the day, and was resting in the room provided to him by the organisers of the tournament; the kingdom itself.
“Pyu!”
A white furry nose pushed out of his clothes as he sat down, followed by two immeasurably small and soft paws, before the rest of the body came out. It was the baby wolf Mason had picked up from the wolf he killed. Although it seemed like a twisted thing to do, Mason himself felt it was something he had to do to honour a creature that had a life-and-death battle with him.
The little thing liked to stay inside Mason’s clothes for most of the day, and would only come out when Mason had settled down for a time of resting.
For this reason, Mason had stitched a small pocket on the inside of his rather ragged clothes to fit the creature that was only a little larger than his palm.
“Sigh~ I wonder how many people I will have to beat to make him meet me. I don’t want to waste so much time winning the competition for the chance to meet him.
While Mason was sighing in indignation at the unfair quest, Alice was still nearly 2 says away from the designated location, Heron had begun his journey to civilisation, with his 5 new companions, 4 of which were the slaves that were walking on the ground, and one of them was a female slave who was being ‘pleasuring’ the two slave traders.
On the other hand, SPU had just completed the daily quota of believers, and returned to the palace to sort things out.
His current job was to get Cayden on track to becoming a flourishing nation, rather than its current state of being an absolute dump.
To accomplish this, he needed people, and to do that, he simply added more people to the faith in the God of Systems. And that is exactly what he did, and gave them missions to manage for themselves. Naturally, they did not receive the survivor’s system with had basically unlimited growth potential and cost 2 CP each, but received the Citizen’s system which cost only 1 CP per 2 people. However, it limited the people in method of levelling based on their innate profession.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Blacksmith would level up by creating weapons and items and selling them to either other players, or God, both of which would give Jack exp, only the latter would allow Jack to pull the effort the creator put into it as exp, while throwing back the metal dust back to the blacksmith who could re-use it for more weapons, while selling it to others would give the creator a one-time exp boost.
This applied for all other innate professions which cannot be changed. Jack did not want to spend loads of exp in getting unlimited skills for his people. Instead, he would have them focus on the few skills they could buy based on their profession, and level those up. This way, instead of having mediocre allrounders who could do everything, but at the same time, not anything, and could be whipped clean by a single super-strong enemy, he would build a nation of highly specialised individuals who would work together as a whole nation, and utterly decimate enemies.
And that was a plan for the future. SPU currently had to get the orders of the state in check, and the most important job was finding worthy prey- ahem, wanted criminals, and other scum. These were to be used a temporary sources of CP will his investments began to bring up returns.
Every night, SPU went on his ‘Late night walks’ and killed off around 20 people within 2 minutes, before returning as though nothing happened. And the next morning, news of 20 gangsters, wanted criminals, and scum of society like thieves were found dead.
Naturally, SPU did not intend to completely eradicate the scum of society, but just intended to get them in line. And in order to do this, he allowed a few of his killings to be seen by the normal public, who only saw this as divine punishment, while the underbelly of Cayden began to fear the existence known as Espeeu.
Time flew by, and a day and a half passed in this manner. Heron was still on his journey, while Alice was still a day from her designated location. SPU continued to hire people into the religion, while making living in Cayden better as time passed, by firstly ridding people of the fear of being robbed or murdered the very next day.
On the other hand, Mason was preparing to battle the finals of the tournament.
