Yesterday I got a shoutout from KamikazePotato, author of a newer Royal Road story An Outcast In Another World (Subtitle: Is 'Insanity' A Racial Trait?).
So, in preparation to say thank you, I first attempted to find more information regarding suicidal potatoes on the internet. The results were mixed. Or mashed. (Did you cringe when you read that joke? I did when I wrote it.)
Then, I looked into hand-to-hand combat manuals for human vs bear. There was a surprising amount of that available, but I wasn't sure which would work best with my normal fighting style--there didn't seem to be a good match. Of course, my normal fighting style involves hiding in a bush and throwing sticks, so there is that.
In the end, I decided that returning the shoutout was probably the best course of action:
If you're looking for something that scatches that progression weak-to-strong LITRPG fantasy itch, then this story will do it: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/42385/an-outcast-in-another-world-subtitle-is-insanity
EDIT: As an update, this story is now available on Amazon! Congratulations to the author, and you can find it here.

I promise that I don't hate foxes!
In fact, I recently got a shout-out from a Royal Road author who is an expert on foxes, of the multiple-tailed foxkin variety. The author is responsible for two great web serials: Shovel in Spades and Lone: The Wanderer [Rewrite]. Both novels are written in an anime-esque style with easy-to-picture descriptions for anime and manga fans.
As a thank you, I tried to order a custom-made shovel with a fox-head that serves as one of those hidden blade things. Like a cane sword, but instead of a cane a shovel. I also ordered a plush stuffed animal fox, because... because.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer didn't really understand what I was trying to order. I ended up with a set of cooking knives with enameled playing cards on them--which meant I couldn't even use them. To make matters worse they included a free ice tray that imprints little laughing fox heads on each cube.
So, to make up for not having a thank you gift, I'm gonna return the shoutout... actual a two-in-one:
If you like system apocalypse LITRPGs with really excellent base-building and fight scenes, then you might want to try Shovel in Spades.
If you prefer more straight up adventure LITRPGs, and like your main characters over-powered, then Lone: The Wanderer might be up your alley.
Update: My stuffed animal fox was stolen! By one of my doggies.
I searched for it for at least three weeks (I promise! What, you don't believe me?! Okay, it was two weeks... no? one? Alright, I looked for 30 mins broken up between commercials before delegating the task to the kiddos, but so what???)
Finally, it was found: soggy and half-buried in the backyard. I found it by accidentally mowing over the spot.
As such, I am filing a lawsuit against one of the dogs as soon as I can figure out which one is responsible. I've set my children to investigating it, so I expect results in about... huh... uh... well, IF I get results, we'll proceed from there. I'll keep you all informed as the situation changes.
