Chapter 53: No one is perfect

Chapter 53: No one is perfect

After breakfast, I headed towards the meeting room with Emilia, Eclara, and Michelle in tow. Normally, authorized people or those who were deemed to be useful to the meeting are the only ones who could enter the room. However, because there were a lot of people who left the meeting yesterday for various reason, it became really quiet. As such, I suggested to Gen. Mayers to allow some people to enter the room.

He accepted my proposal with a smile. I felt a bit happy about it and walked cheerfully to the meeting room.

When we arrived at the meeting room there were no people inside it. As such, Emilia took this time to scan through the documents she had received earlier. As for me, I brought the book I wrote in the past and reviewed some of my knowledge.

I was reviewing the elements found in the periodic table. Inside the book, I made an incomplete periodic table that contained the common elements. The reason why it was incomplete was because I didn’t have any studying habit in my previous life. Don’t judge me okay, in my previous life, I was just an average gamer that spent his free time playing computer games.

“What are you reading, Lumina-sama?”

From my side, Eclara asked me a question with a voice filled with curiosity.

“Hmm? Eclara? Well, I was just reading some of the things I wrote on some pieces of paper back when we were still in school.”

“?”

Hearing my answer, Eclara floated lots of question marks.

“Wel, I’m only doing this to kill some time.”

“Is that so? Can I have a look?”

Since I wasn’t hiding the contents of the books I wrote, I passed it to Eclara with a smile.

“You have a really pretty handwriting, Lumina-sama.”

Michelle commented as Eclara opened the book. The two then started reading the book.

“Lumina-sama... Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure, go ahead.”

“About this part... What does it mean?”

Eclara pointed at the diagram I made. It was a diagram that showed how small things became large. Kinda like this: Particles>Atoms>Molecules>DNA>Cells>Tissues>Organs>Organisms.

“Ah, that.... It’s a general breakdown on the make-up of things.”

In my past life, it was something that was considered as common knowledge. Back then, anyone who’d see this diagram would understand what it meant.

“?”

Eclara and Michelle's made a face that told me they didn’t understand what I told them.

Should I tell them about it? I kinda feel like they’ll only ask me more questions if I teach them... Well, I think it’ll be a good way to waste my time.

I then materialized a model of an atom using magic.

“Atoms are the building blocks of matter and they generally look like this. These things are very small and can’t be seen by the naked eyes. If you group these up, you’ll get a molecule. Then, if you group up a lot of particles you’ll have a cell. Like the atom, the cell is also known as the building block of life. Each and every one of us is made up of cells. If you clump a lot of cells together you’ll have a tissue...”

I explained what the diagram represented one by one. When I finished explaining, Michelle raised her hand.

“Umm... Where did you learn these kinds of things?”

I made a mischievous smile and answered her obvious question.

“That’s a secret~”

Michelle made a blank face as she failed to understand my answer.

“Do you believe any of these things, Lumina-sama?”

“Of course, I was the one who wrote it.”

“Then can I ask why you believe these things?”

I placed a hand on my chin and pondered for a while.

“I could show what a cell looks like using a microscope, however, even if I use magic, I can’t replicate its function to zoom in cause I don’t know how to make its lenses.”

“Zoom in? Lumina-sama, I know magnifying magic. If it’s about zooming in on certain objects, I’m able to use it.”

Eclara chime in as I was lost in thought.

“There’s a magic like that?”

“Yes, it’s a magic that’s usually used during recon.”

“Is that so? Then can you use to zoom in a hundred times on a particular object?”

“I don’t’ really know, I haven’t tried to use it like that.”

“Then let’s try it now. Try zooming in on your forearm.”

“Yes.”

Eclara brought her forearm in front of her. As she stared at her forearm, I noticed that there was a magic circle on her eyes.

Is that the magic circle for magnifying objects or is that for far sight? Well, let’s take note of it and try replicating it later.

“Can you see something?”

“Yes, I can see the pores of my skin.”

“Try zooming in a little more.”

“Yes.”

“What do you see?”

“... I can see some shapes that are clumped together. Most of them have dots at their center.”

“Those are cells.”

“....”

The magic circle vanished from her eyes as she stared in shock.

“The human body is made up of millions of them. Each function in a certain way. I could explain all about it, but I think we’ll have to spend a lot of time just to make you understand it.”

I explained it while I glimpsed at Emilia. In the past, I taught her all about it, however, it took a really long time to make her remember the parts of a cell. I think it took me around a week.

“I don’t mind.”

“Eh?”

“I don’t mind it, Lumina-sama. Please teach me about this.”

Eclara made a really firm expression as she bowed her head.

“Umm... Me too...”

Michelle also bowed her head like Eclara. It felt really awkward so I couldn’t answer them immediately.

“L- lets set this thing aside for now... Look! Gen. Mayers and his aides have arrived.”

I pointed towards the direction of the door where Gen. Mayers stood.

“Then, I look forward to tonight.”

“Yes!”

Michelle clapped her hands together and smile enthusiastically while Eclara backed away from the seat and stood behind me.

“It’s an emergency!”

Suddenly, Emilia who was silent suddenly screamed out with a panicked face as Gen. Mayers sat on one of the chairs.

“Just now, a message from Fate had just been sent to me via magic mail.”

Emilia showed us a white envelope that had the symbol of the Amethyst Family. She then passed me a piece of paper.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Emergency! A horde of unidentified beings that fly in the sky suddenly appeared in the sky! These beings can use magic and are currently rampaging! Please send word to Gen. Mayers and Lumina-sama to send us reinforcements!

When I finished reading the message, I became pale and passed it to Gen. Mayers.

“Emilia, forget packing my luggage... Let’s quickly head there!”

““Eh?””

Eclara and Michelle made a dumb voice as I stood up.

“Yes.”

The two of us then stormed out of the door in a brisk pace.

Just because I managed to make peace with the elves, it doesn’t mean the other races won’t invade us! I completely forgot about it! Damn it!

As our distance from the meeting room increased, Gen. Mayers appeared from our side. It seemed like he used magic to catch up to us because a faint reddish light covered his body.

“What are you gonna do once you arrive? Are you gonna fight against them?”

“Don’t be unreasonable, there’s no way I can beat a dragon.”

“Dragon?”

“Yes, from the description that was in the letter, I can’t think of any other beings besides dragons.”

“Then what are you gonna do once you’re there?”

I stopped walking and thought for a while.

What am I gonna do there? Dragons are huge beings that have scales that are tougher than steel and can use magics than can change an entire landscape. Is there even any merit in me going there?

...

But if I don’t go there, then wouldn’t it be the same as abandoning Fate? I don’t really want to abandon a friend

...

There must be a way to push them back....

Emilia and Gen. Mayers stayed silent as they waited for my answer.

It feels like I’m forgetting something....

As I shifted my brain into high gear, the wall near me suddenly exploded.

“Why’d you throw me into a pit of men! Don’t you know that I was this close to getting raped!”

A familiar voice of a very male sounded from behind the wall.

“Even though I was in the wrong yesterday, that kind of punishment is too much!”

While he continued to bash out complaints, I only stared dumbfounded at him.

‘Oi! Are you listening?”

“That’s it!”

In the game, he fought against a horde of dragons, dwarves and elves during when the country was invaded by those races. After a long fight, along with the human armies, they emerged victoriously... How could I forget about him! He's the MC, the Protagonist!

“Emilia, quickly tie him using a rope!”

“Oi!”

“Yes.”

“Don’t just agree with her! Don’t tell me you’re gonna throw me back there again! If you’re gonna do that again, even though you’re Eclara’s friend, I won’t hesitate to use magic against you!”

“It’s an emergency, so could you please shut up and let me tie you up?”

“Heh?”

As Emilia materialized a rope using Null element magic, Shin quickly ran away from her and she chased after him.

“Gen. Mayers, once I arrived in the capital, I’ll use this thing to fight against the dragons.”

“Him?”

“Yes, I think he’ll be able to do something about it..”

“Is he strong?”

“Yes, I believe he can stop the dragons that have invaded the capital.”

“Hoho, then I’ll quickly have my organize the soldiers under my command and head over there. and reinforce the line”

“We'll be going then.”

The two of us then headed towards opposite directions. The place I was headed to were the rooms of Liza, Mary, and Victoria. I then explained the emergency to them and the trio nodded to me and quickly dressed themselves while I wait for them in the practice field. Along the way, I met up with Eclara and Michelle, it seemed like they were informed by Gen. Mayers because they were already geared up.

“Lumina-sama, where’s Emilia?”

Liza who stood in my right asked me a question as we lined up in the practice field.

“She’s capturing Shin.”

“Why?”

“It’s because he’ll be useful in the coming fight.”

“Should we help her?”

“I’ve already captured him.”

Liza and I turned our heads to the back and found Emilia dragging Shin.

“Is everyone ready?”

“Yes!”

“Then let’s go!”

Everyone then covered themselves with mana and flew up in the sky. Eclara was a bit late because she had to cover Michelle and wasn’t used to using null element magic to fly. We then headed to the royal capital with our maximum speed.

****

Meanwhile...

“Achil... Are you ready?”

‘Yeah, where’s Frank?”

“He’ll be here any moment now.”

“What was he up to last night?”

“He said that he was gonna do something fun... I wonder what it was?”

“Well, let’s just head to the practice field and catch up to Lumina-sama. It seemed like there’s an emergency and that she’s in a hurry to head there.”

When Frank and Anthony arrived in the practice field, they became speechless as they saw the eight silhouettes flying towards the direction of the capital.

“Hey, Anthony...”

“Yeah?”

“Did Lumina-sama forget about us?”

“I wonder...”

“Hey, guys~”

Frank appeared from the hallway with a refreshed expression.

“Where were you!?”

“Well, I was busy doing somethings... More importantly, where’s Lumina-sama?”

“Over there...”

“Hmmm?”

Frank narrowed his eyes and focused his attention on the direction where Anthony and Achil had pointed.

“They already flew off huh... Did Lumina-sama forget about us?”

“I think so too...”

“Well, no one's a perfect human... She's smart, talented and discovered the magic we now use, however, her only flaw is that she keeps forgetting about people...”

“... That’s true....”

"Now then, Let’s stop dawdling around and catch up with them...

The three boys then covered themselves in mana and flew up the sky. They chased after the eight silhouettes that flew ahead of them.
