Epilogue

Shingo’s Diary

From the moment I saw Mayadenava stab my sister, Shiori and possessed my body, I could only freeze. Even after Mariko successfully healed the fatal wound, I could only watch the whole thing. Unable to speak, unable to do anything more than blink.

I didn’t understand what happened to me at all, and the crazy thing I did, in that critical moment of life and death. I only remembered delivering the final blow on

Mayadenava and pressing the button to send his soul back to the Black Hole Doorway.

Also, Junishi and Yasuaki Abe who fell as heroes, reunited at last for eternity in the afterlife as father and daughter.

The next time I opened my eyes, I woke up in a hospital with bandages all over my body and Mariko and Ryonoken by my side. We talked about a great many things for a long time. There were arguments, of course. However, we came up with a decision that would change our lives, drastically.

Our next mission was to go to Centronia Megapolitan City in Archelia Federation, Myriath Continent. We would participate in MAUL, Martial Arts Ultimate League.

To enter the finals in Centronia, we must be one of the three winning teams in the National Preliminaries.

The reason for our participation was to get noticed and to get access to Votech, the main sponsor of MAUL. Also, to talk with Votech’s CEO, Merlin Azrabel. There were so many things we want to ask him. And that included the reason he let JinCorp use Styrx’s brain for diabolical purposes.

So, until the time of championships came, we sought news about our fellow fighters’ and enemies’ lives and fates since the Mayadenava incident and battle.

Fuwa Mizutani

Losing three top agents, along with many other agents had been a painful blow for Goemon Investigations Agency. The Director, Fuwa Mizutani worked hard to put things back in order and reorganize the agency so it could be fully functional again.

Keiji Yorinaga

Fortunately, with Keiji Yorinaga’s help, the work was completed in a month or so, without too many difficulties. For his extraordinary feats and contributions, Keiji Yorinaga was promoted as Vice Director. Two years later, he got married to Fuwa Mizutani and conveyed the Mizutani name to the next generation.

Junishi Abe and Todo Takahashi

The fallen heroes, Junishi “Nishi” Abe and Todo Takahashi, and Shiori Amiga, who resigned due to extraordinary reasons were given places of honor in the Goemon Investigation Agency’s Hall of Fame.

Noboru Jinbei

The Shimanese Government made a very bold move by giving an amnesty to Noboru Jinbei and Akiba Maeda, two of the three conspirators of the Infinity Tower Incident in JinCorp Mega Complex. The JinCorp Mega Complex had to be abandoned temporarily as one of the conditions of the amnesty. So, Jinbei returned to the old JinCorp Head Office in Ginjiro Donjon.

Jinbei has lost most of his fortune in the JMC and Infinity Project. So, to regain funds and keep people to trust JinCorp, he had to reform and restructure the company from scratch. One of his maneuvers was to promote the five prodigies: Raijin, Fuujin, Mamoru, Aiko, and Misaka as his assistants, Jinbei’s representatives to undertake this great task.

As a result, none of the JinCorp employees were fired. Most of them worked online from their homes, while the rest replaced the broken and expensive droids in the Ginjiro Donjon HQ. They must also redistribute the assets so the company operated efficiently. The restoration process went slow and took years. In the end, JinCorp managed to survive and became stronger than ever.

Years after, Jinbei decided to retire and handed JinCorp management to his two sons, Misaka and Rykuno Jinbei as CEO and VP of the company. JinCorp was looking forward to a brighter future.

Akiba Maeda

The Yakuza Godfather, Akiba Maeda was also granted amnesty from the government, considering the Yakuza’s honorable contributions to the nation in ancient times.

The Yakuza’s contribution to redeem their actions in the Infinity Tower Incident also saved them from the consequences of law and breaking the covenant that dated back to the days of the Shogunate.

However, the bloody incidents left a scar on the relations between the Yakuza and the law enforcers, in this case, the GI Agency. Therefore, Akiba moved the base of operations underground until all was clear.

Hayato Mori and Reika Diose

Naturally, Akiba chose Akabeno Underground Slums and Hayato Mori’s Bar as the new hideout for the Yakuza organization. And he promoted Hayato as Deputy Godfather.

On the other hand, Hayato Mori performed his duties well. Later, he was known as the more respectable than feared Yakuza gangster, despite his prowess as a fighter.

Not only Akiba Maeda. But Reika Diose, the diva sorceress’ presence added an immense, maybe even divine vibe to Hayato’s Bar. The diva continued her sparkling career as a singer, even after she was married to Hayato, her hero, and rescuer. However, in public eyes, Reika always showed up as if she was still single.

Gale Zhao

Gale Zhao continued to serve the Yakuza for a few years. That was until Wang Zi, his former boss in the Triad summoned Gale to his deathbed. And then, with permission from Godfather Akiba, Gale left the Yakuza and rose as the Godfather of the Daitoshi Triad and the new owner of the Jade Phoenix Restaurant.

Long afterward, Gale Zhao got engaged and would shortly marry the Shimanese girl of his choice. It was Omiya Eguchi, who was free from her esper, the evil ghost Yuki Onna.

Chiyo Higashi

Even after fighting Mayadenava, Chiyo Higashi didn’t affiliate herself with the GI, the Yakuza, or JinCorp yet. She continued her studies until graduation while pursuing excellence as a painter. A few years later she became famous for her “magical” paintings that were like “moving” portraits.

Losing Shingo Amiga as a model for her paintings, Chiyo eventually got a replacement plus a boyfriend. He was Rikunori “Rykuno” Jinbei, who turned out to be Noboru Jinbei’s youngest son. At that time, Rykuno owned an art gallery plus an antiquities and magical relics shop in Gozo Hypermall. So, it was a very mutual relationship.

They got married a few years after they started dating each other, and Rykuno was dubbed the new Vice President of JinCorp. Only then it was safe to say that Chiyo was affiliated with JinCorp, indirectly.

Mariko Chime

Having committed to the next big mission in Centronia, Mariko Chime resigned as a priestess in Tsubaki Temple. Her grandfather, the Head Priest went against her decision at first, but finally consented, with a condition that she would be reinstated as priestess after she had enough experience and her mission was done.

Ninja Ryonoken

Ryo Hayabusa a.k.a. Ninja Ryonoken, the legendary Ryukage, Shadow Dragon Ninja was always a free soul who jumped into one mission after another in search of his ultimate purpose. He was the current inheritor of Masamune’s katana.

After he found that purpose in stopping Mayadenava, Ryo went on to search for a new purpose. And he believed that his new purpose was waiting for him in Centronia.

Shingo’s Diary - Last Entry

Finally, the preparation to fight in the MAUL World Championships was complete.

I and Mariko have undergone rigorous training under Ryonoken Sensei for Triple Tag Team matches. Along with the hard training, I also tried to adapt to my new trademark looks. Now I wore a tank top covered with a velcro jacket. I also sported tight pants with a pair of long boots. I hid my legendary katana, Muramasa inside a guitar case with a thick porcelain coating to avoid metal detectors.

I was a fighter who helped vanquish a universal evil.

I was now a man’s soul inside a young woman’s body.

One thing was clear, Shingo Amiga was no more.

So, from now on, just call me…

Shiori Amiga.
