A True and Sincere Heart - Part 4

Shingo’s heart swelled with pride. He was glad that Hayato was finally seeing the light, but Akiba’s words shattered the peaceful moment.

“I don’t need respect from a traitor! Not you too, Hayato! So it’s true your relationships with Reika Diose and your interactions with Shingo and Gale have softened you up!” Akiba spat, his face twisted in anger.

Ryonoken, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up. “Well, people who walk in the Light tend to be soft and calm. But they are also tougher than the rough, violent, and unstable ones, like rocks on a cliff,” he said with a small smile.

Akiba seemed to have a trick up his sleeve, though. “Oh, yes! I just remembered. I still have something to break that soft but tough rock!” he exclaimed.

With that, Akiba made his way towards the gate, pressing a button on the remote control in his hand. The ground began to shake, and the sound of mechanical steps filled the air. Shingo turned to see a giant mecha approaching them, with steel exterior glinting in the dim light.

“Behold, here comes the Machine of Doom! It’s the ZR-4G Holocaust!” Akiba announced a hint of maniacal glee in his voice.

Shingo could feel his heart racing, knowing that a battle was about to begin. He steeled himself, ready to face whatever was thrown his way.

Shingo’s heart pounded as he watched Akiba Maeda take control of the giant mecha robot, a menacing machine that bristled with guns, cannons, and missiles on almost every inch of its body. It was like staring down the barrel of a loaded gun.

Gale’s voice cut through the tension like a knife. “That’s insane! Is he trying to blow this whole place up? People and fellow Yakuzas are still inside!”

Shingo couldn’t help but agree. “When all reason fails, simple people can only turn to brutality and destruction as the last resort!”

But Ryonoken had a plan. “Quick, Hayato! Gather the soldiers and Crystal Skulls and get out of this facility! Let us handle Akiba!”

Hayato nodded. “Good idea! Come on, people, let’s run! Don’t get caught in this senseless massacre! Sorry, but I entrust Reika to you guys!”

As they fled the scene, the mecha robot let loose a deafening roar. “Yes, go away, you insignificant maggots!” Akiba yelled. “Who needs help when you got the ultimate firepower in hand? Feel the wrath of Akiba Maeda! Hyaaah!”

The air crackled with tension as Shingo’s team found themselves locked in a fierce battle against Akiba Maeda and his formidable weapon of destruction, the ZR-4G Holocaust. The ground trembled beneath the weight of the colossal mecha, its fully armed presence casting a shadow of impending doom.

This was a fight unlike any they had faced before. The magicians among them, Chiyo and Mariko, were unable to unleash their spells, forced instead to rely on their agility and constant movement to evade the onslaught of missiles, bullets, and grenades that rained down upon them. Each step they took was calculated, and all for survival.

Shingo and Shiori, armed with their respective katanas, took charge of two groups, coordinating their attacks from different sides. The clash of steel rang through the air as they deftly maneuvered, their blades meeting the relentless onslaught of their adversaries.

Ryonoken, the skilled ninja, seized an opportunity amidst the chaos. With swift precision, he hurled a kunai directly into the main cannon shaft of the Holocaust. The small, lethal weapon found its mark, disrupting the mecha’s functionality and setting off a chain of events that would alter the course of the battle.

Akiba, realizing the imminent danger, prepared to unleash the full force of the main cannon upon the magicians. The air crackled with electricity as the atmosphere grew heavy with impending doom. However, fate had a different plan. The kunai lodged in the cannon shaft caused a catastrophic malfunction, triggering a backfire that ripped through the mecha’s core. The explosion engulfed the Holocaust in a blinding burst of flames and shrapnel.

At that moment, the magicians seized their opportunity. Chiyo and Mariko channeled their respective magic simultaneously, their powers converging into a cataclysmic assault. Lightning crackled and danced across the battlefield as Chiyo unleashed a torrent of Lightning Bolts, while Mariko’s radiant light magic manifested in a cascade of Raybolts.

The combined forces of lightning and light magic surged forward, tearing through the defenses of Akiba’s array. The air quivered with energy as their spells found their targets, shattering the formidable barriers that protected their adversary.

Yet, fortune smiled upon Akiba in his moment of dire peril. With an uncanny sense of timing, he managed to escape the imminent explosion of his mecha, his body propelled away just moments before it erupted into a cataclysmic burst of fiery destruction.

As the dust settled and the battlefield fell silent, the team surveyed the aftermath of their intense struggle. Smoke and debris hung in the air, the remnants of their fierce confrontation. Shingo’s gaze lingered on the smoldering wreck of the Holocaust, his expression a mixture of relief and determination.

“We cannot let him escape. We’ve come too far,” Shingo said, his voice carrying an unwavering resolve. “We must find Akiba and bring an end to his reign of chaos.”

In the aftermath of the battle, they regrouped to assess the damage. Shingo moved forward to check on the Godfather, who was still unconscious. Mariko came over to check on Akiba. “His body is burnt and badly wounded,” she said. “If not because of his jacket and inner strength, he should’ve been dead already.”

Keiji had a plan. “If that’s the case, let’s just leave Akiba Maeda here. I shall dispatch some agents here to arrest him soon, and have him treated and detained.”

But Gale was concerned. “But, is it okay to leave Akiba here as we did with Yasuaki? I mean, this place is badly damaged, it can collapse anytime.”

Ryonoken shook his head. “Not likely, if it’s still underground. But we better hide him somewhere else on the premises.”

Chiyo agreed. “Yeah, someone else might try to extract him sooner or later. Someone of the wrong sort.”

Nishi had a bone to pick. “But, why did you leave my father in the lab? Didn’t you think he would be extracted too?”

Shiori hung her head. “Look, I’m sorry, Nishi. It was my mistake. But it’s too late to move him away now. Let’s do it the first chance we get.”

Nishi accepted her apology. “Well, guess it’s time to go forward.”

Shingo nodded. “Let’s get out of here, my friends! We have a mission to accomplish.” And with that, they set off, ready for whatever lay ahead.
