The sons of the red moon part 1

The sons of the red moon part 1

Days had gone by, and the black rat gang had evolved a lot in just a few days. Haley micromanaged a lot of the operations of the gang and made sure no high-risk situations would be taken. Money was flowing in from pickpocket activities, thieving from rich people, and taking protection money from rich shop owners.

Haley also wanted to take revenge on those business owners who had used Rufus's good nature and made him work for pennies. Haley was surprisingly good at this and surprisingly ruthless.

In the meanwhile, Rufus was still working on the docks. As the job was a lengthy operation, the merchant had hired him for a few days. The merchant had no idea that Rufus was actually a gang boss. Rufus himself felt a little uncomfortable having his sister work as a gangster boss, but Rufus himself didn't quite grasp the situation even though he was the boss.

One day he saw parts of his gang members helping him at the docks moving boxes from the river ship into the warehouses.

"Guys what are you doing here," asked Rufus from them.

"Oh. Boss. We are just helping you. Lady Haley sent us here," said one of the gangsters," Lady Haley told us you are a slave to people's request and that you needed some help to get this job done quickly. We are also here to make sure you get paid accordingly."

Rufus was both sad and happy about the situation.

One thing had been bothering Rufus. He was unable to use his divine powers since then. He although had not tried to use it. He knew what he did was the right move, but he still was haunted by the image of flesh exploding right in front of him.

A few hours later some tough-looking people came to the docks. They looked at the three gangsters who were helping Rufus. They were glaring at the visible tattoos that marked them as part of the black rat gang.

"Hey. You guys. What the hell do you think your doing," Yelled one of the men to the three gangsters, "This is sons of the red moons terf. The river docks have always been our property. You weaklings already forgot your place in this world you, stinking rats."

There were five of these guys and they all looked more muscular and larger than the black rat gang members. They all had tattoos also. The tattoo showed a person and a red moon behind him. They had all some sort of weapons with them. One had chains, one had a mace, and one had a large ax. One had even gotten his hands on a military-grade crossbow.

The black rat gang members were not carrying any weapons and looked scared at the more threatening rival gang members. Then one of the black rat gang members yelled out," You fat asses better watch out. We have our boss here. Our boss will butcher you in just a few seconds"

Rufus quickly felt scared. He had not after the last incident used his divine powers and he wasn't much of a fighter or even an aggressive person. He had no idea what to do in the situation.

Luckily just mentioning the new black rat gang's name was enough to still fear in these other gangsters. Seems like they knew what had happened and knew Rufus had divine power. At first, Rufus was pleased that they were scared, but it quickly turned to regret when he realized some people knew he had divine power, and of all people, it had to be some gangsters.

"Fuck. We can't go up against an actual person with divine powers. Especially someone who made such a bloodbath," whispered one of the rival gang members to another.

"But what are we going to do. Do we have to cower to these rats? They have always been beneath us," argued one of the gang members back.

"You're choice if you want to fight against that monster. Let's go tell the boss that the rats are on the move and have started to show their fangs" said the rival gangster back.

They decided to leave, and Rufus was still worried about them knowing about his powers.

Later that day they met at old man Haufen's bar with Leif, Haley, and Rufus to discuss what had happened at the river docks.

"Why the hell do you have to have your meetings at my bar. My bar is not a gathering point for you gangsters," yelled old man Haufen.

"Sooo, I am quite new to this gangster business. Do you mind explaining to Leif who these guys were," asked Haley for Leif?

Haufen was completely ignored…..

"Well, there are three gangs here in this city. We have always been the runt of the litter. Paying tribute to the other two. While we the black rat gang do mainly thieving and stealing the sons of the red moon do more than that."

"They control the docks and extort trade tariffs from merchants. They also deal in narcotics to other people, and they are arguably way more violent than us. We have never had a chance to fight against them. But now is different. I am sure since we now have the help of our boss and his divine powers, we can easily defeat them and claim more rights to our gang," explained Leif eagerly.

The words that came out of Leif's mouth terrified Rufus. He had no willpower to end up in a fight. Haley saw that Rufus was in no way eager to fight and didn't want to even ask him to do that.

"Well, how about we avoid fighting? Fighting is bad for business anyway," asked Haley.

"I wish It would be that simple. As soon as we would send an envoy asking for easing the tensions, they would smell blood in the water and encourage them more to strike," explained Leif.

Rufus's face went completely pale. He was terrified that he would have to fight again. Haley and Rufus were caught between a rock and a hard place.

"You mind Leif giving me and my brother a moment?" asked Haley from Leif.

When Leif left Haley and Rufus to be just the two of them inside the bar and Haley started to ask about his divine powers from Rufus.

"You think you could use your powers again. Hearing what Leif said we don't have much choice than fighting them now and leaving the gang now is already too late for us," Haley asked Rufus.

"I don't know. Haven't even thought about using my powers at all, to be honest," Rufus opened up.

At that moment old man Haufen decided to join the conversation.

"Haley. You mind letting me speak to Rufus alone," said Haufen to Haley and stared straight into Haley's eyes insisting that he was serious.

Haley left the table and left just old man Haufen to speak with Rufus.
