The black rats are back part 2

The fight was over fast with the grey skins surrendering to the three of them. Haley walked forward and went to stand on top of a table.

“Listen up you lowlives. You are the reason why this city is such a mess. You and all the other gangs. You all should be punished for what you have done but I am luckily a very understanding person. I was like one of you not so long ago, so I understand you.

With me, you will be more than just a gang. You will be the shadows of this kingdom that secretly supports its people. You will be able to support your families and loved ones without harming innocent. Does this sound like a plan?” Haley spoke out to every grey skin in their own language.

With reluctant faces at first, the grey skins started slowly clapping. The claps turned into cheers and soon the whole bar was filled with grey skin roars.

“I guess we are gangsters now,” Yosef pointed out.

Joan felt vexed about the situation and just stayed on the sidelines.

Not long after the human gangs were also brought under to boot of Haley. She had made herself the new gang and crime boss of the capital city with Yosef and Joan as the lieutenants.

They made the small bar as their base of operations and the first order was to stop the infighting among the humans and grey skins.

Haley had commanded all of the new gang members into their new headquarters. Tens of grey skins and humans filled the bar with all of them glaring at each other.

Haley again climbed up on a table and formed crystals to appear all over the room to showcase her power.

“Alright, this is a beginning of a new kind of organization. An organization that doesn’t discriminate based on race, but only on those idiots who break this rule. I don’t care if you don’t like each other, but you will be working together. YOU GOT THAT?!” Haley yelled and intimidated every gangster in the room.

The gangsters looked at each other. They all felt awkward and didn't know what to think about the new situation. It was not easy to bury the hatchet just like that.

Haley then went to the pantry of the bar and brought out a barrel of ale.

“To celebrate the creation of this new organization, free booze for everyone!”

The gangsters cheered and started to form a line for the ale. A party was in full swing.

Haley walked toward Yosef and Joan who stood at the side of the bar.

"Seems like alcohol is the ultimate language of the masses," Yosef said looking around.

"An old trick I learned from a bar owner I once knew," Haley chuckled.

“I guess we should call you boss now?” Yosef said sarcastically.

“Naah, Haley is just fine.”

Joan still looked vexed and didn't want to join in o the partying.

“Something you want to say?” Haley asked.

“I am a knight, not a gangster. All of this is beneath me. I don’t skulk in the shadows even if it is for the good of the people. And does Rufus and the other even know about this?”

“No. That is the whole point. Rufus is too kind and is no more able to live in the shadows. He needs someone to support him and take care of the problems of the kingdom for him. Rufus needs someone to do all the dirty work and we will be the ones doing it. You will be doing dirty work, but it still is not as dirty what you used to do for the dead king,” Haley explained what she had intended for them.

Joan looked at Haley who pleaded with her. She then exhaled and ceded.

“That Rufus seems to be living at least up to what he promised. Being the most naive person in the entire universe. I will be a weapon for you to use so use me well,” Joan said and shook hands with Haley.

“So uhmmm. If she had a chance to refuse do I also have any say in this?” Yosef asked with one hand up.

Back at the royal palace, Rufus was staring out of the window with Doreen and Edward beside him.

“So, you heard yet? Haley, Yosef and Joan have been causing a ruckus in the underworld,” Doreen asked.

“Yeah. Their skulking around was not so hard to spot,” Rufus answered back.

“Should we get involved?” Edward asked.

“Not really, and I actually am pretty happy about this. Well, not happy about Haley being a gang boss but happy she is moving forward in her own way. I can not be looking over her shoulder always,” Rufus said with a happy smile.
