Pema and Haley left accompanied by around twenty grey skin warriors and four Gherseng guards. They headed north to the Insbeck region where the attacks had occurred. It would take with such a small entourage only about five days to arrive at the village where the Sonam tribe had been spotted last.
During the travel, Pema was just quietly riding a black yak. Next to him was Haley who rode beside him feeling awkward with the silence.
"Wow…..this is aaaawkward," Haley thought to herself.
She looked at Pema who had always been very quiet. He was never a talkative person and even when he opened his mouth it often was overshadowed by other loudmouths.
"Now that I think about I have never been alone with Pema. There have always been other people with us. Shit! How the hell does Rufus make friends so easily. This is so uncomfortable," Haley thought and was biting her nails.
Pema looked at Haley who was biting her nail.
"You shouldn't be biting your nails," Pema said and pointed at Haley.
"Oh yeah. Yeah, I started recently biting my nails. It is a really bad habit. Hahahaha."
Pema turned around and started to just look forward almost ignoring Haley.
"Shiiiiit. This is soooooo awkwaaaard. Doesn't this atmosphere bother him at all?!" Haley thought.
"So you have any hobbies? Anything you like?" Haley asked.
"Baths."
Haley felt frustrated and beaten, but she still didn't want to give up.
"You like anything else?"
"Long baths."
". . . . . . . . . . "
The rest of the journey continued in silence.

Hailey and Pema reached after five days the small settlement that was attacked by the Sonam tribe. The journey there had been awkward the entire time with neither speaking to each other. Hailey still didn't speak well enough grey skin language to converse with the other grey skin and Pema was just awkwardly silent the entire time.
Haley felt immense relief when they arrived, but that feeling would not last long...

They entered the village where the Sonam tribe had been spotted. They could not hear anything, and the village had been completely abandoned. The village was not damaged or anything with all the buildings still standing and undamaged.
"This was the right village, right?" Haley asked.
"Not sure anymore either," Pema answered back.
The grey skin warriors spread out in the village looking for clues of the whereabouts of the villagers. They entered all the houses and looked for any human. The Ghersengs stayed close to Haley not letting her out of their sight.
One of the grey skin warriors rushed back. He pointed at the center of the village. Hailey and Pema ran to the center to see what was going on. There they saw a large cauldron with burnt wood under it. Chairs and tables were arranged like there had been a feast at the village center.
Hailey walked around. It looked more and more like there had been no battle in the village.
"What the hell happened here. Looks more like there was a wedding here," Hailey said and looked around the village center.
Hailey walked toward the cauldron. It still had some soup inside it. She looked into it and smelled it. It smelled funny.
A hand of a human popped to the surface. It had been cooked and the flesh of the human was coming off the same way a beef's flesh would come off when making stew. The only way it was recognizable of a human's hand was because of the bones of the fingers from where the meat still clung onto.
Haley stepped back and threw up. Her eyes turned red. A Gherseng looked also into the cauldron and started to feel sick.
One of the grey skin warriors came coughing from a barn that was nearby. Pema walked in. A foul and stinky smell came from the barn that everyone could smell. Haley realized it smelled the same as the soup.
The barn was full of human body parts hanging from hooks like they were pieces of cow or beef meat being butchered.
Pema looked in horror. It was the most horrendous scene he had ever seen.
"Burn it," Haley said.
The Ghersengs looked at her.
"BURN IT ALL DOWN! BURN THIS ENTIRE PLACE DOWN!" Hailey yelled.
The Ghersengs understood and made torches. The other grey skin warriors also joined in making torches. They started to burn down the village from a barn to a house.
Hailey and Pema walked away from the burning village.
"We need to find those monsters now more than ever," Haley said to Pema.
Pema nodded. They had to stop them before they got to another human settlement. They had also the possibility to destroy everything they had worked on, in building a nation of two races.
No human would trust a creature that would eat him.
