EEPOS: from rags to godhood
If you believe you are weak, you will be weak

If you believe you are weak, you will be weak

The army stopped in front of the royal palace. Only a couple of grey skin warriors joined with Rufus, Amala, Edward, Pema, Gwon, Haley, and Doreen as they entered the royal palace. The rest of them were commanded to find any survivors in the city.

The gates had been destroyed of the royal palace. Many citizens' bodies littered the courtyard of the royal palace with also many royal guards' bodies. The rioters were able to force their way through them and were able to enter the palace itself.

As they entered the palace, they saw more bodies inside. From maids to servants to guards to rioters, everyone in the palace was killed. The rioters had gone completely mad and didn't care if they killed people who were not involved with their suffering. Their frustration had come to a boiling point.

Many of the rioters' bodies had stab wounds, but no actual weapons were present. Like a sword had pierced them with the sword vanishing when it had punctured the flesh.

They started to climb upstairs through the stairs towards the courtroom. The walls had blood splattered all over them and there were also people being impaled by the chandelier.

They were walking through the hallway and had the door of the throne room right in front of them. A couple of tired and worn-out royal guards guarded the door. They were most likely the last two guards that were alive. They feebly got up trying to stop the enemy, but they were extremely tired and were barely able to move. The grey skin warriors charged at the two guards and slew them instantly.

The grey skin warriors were about to enter the throne room after slaying the royal guards. One of them almost had touched the handle.

"STOP!" Rufus yelled.

The grey skins stopped. Rufus walked to the door. He felt an immense divine power coming from the throne room. He looked at all the others behind him. He knew they all could take whoever was on the other side together.

"I will go alone. I don't want anyone to interfere," Rufus said and looked at all his friends.

All of them understood and decided to let Rufus deal with it alone. Rufus entered the throne room. Inside the windows were all broken and more than any other room was filled with bodies. The king sat on the throne with his head resting on his hand. It looked like he didn't care anymore as Rufus entered the room.

"It seems the enemy army has entered the city," said the king with tired eyes.

Rufus didn't answer.

"You seem to have the same kind of eyes that all those rats had on that dreadful day," the king said and looked at Rufus.

"Rat?" Rufus asked.

"Yes, those rats who barged into my home. Killed my family. Killed all the nobles. Those rats," the king said.

Rufus looked extremely irritated.

"Those "rats" were your people. Your citizens," Rufus yelled.

"They were rats as soon as they stopped working for the kingdom. And the kingdom is me," the king explained.

"Those people are the kingdom. They are our nation," Rufus protested.

The king laughed.

"Hahahahahah. You truly are a commoner. You know nothing of the weight of this crown. You don't even know the history of this kingdom or its people," the king said and laughed.

"I know enough. I know we are the immigrants of this world. That we pushed the grey skin to the mountains," Rufus said in fury.

"You seem to know something, but we the ancestors of the great kings are the ones who hold the truth about humanity. The truth about ruling and leading," The king explained.

"What do you know about ruling?" Rufus asked.

The king looked at Rufus to his eyes.

"You are the reason. A commoner with divine power," the king said and pointed at him.

Rufus looked confused.

"The first kings knew that if the commoners would start manifesting divine power they would cause turmoil and chaos. They feared it the most and sought a way to prevent it at any cost. That is why the status quo was enabled. A way to make sure the commoners would know their place. If they knew they had divine power they would start to manifest them and rise up like you had and end our kingdom.

"That is why they must be pushed to know their place. If a man is pushed down believing he belongs to the dirt he will not rise up and believe he can be something more," The king explained.

"So the people have always had the chance to manifest divinity?!"

"My foolish boy we know so little of divinity and to think it would follow something as lineage is absurd. Divinity can not be explained and it can come up almost anywhere, but it only manifests when people believe in it."

The king's words shocked Rufus.

"You mean you intentionally made the people suffer?" Rufus asked in horror.

"For the good of the kingdom yes," the king said.

Rufus threw a divine sphere at the king. The king cut the sphere in two with a sword made from light. The king then rose up from his throne calmly.

"It seems that as my last act I will kill the person who destroyed my kingdom. I will take you down with the kingdom you ruined. Rufus...." the king said and summoned many swords made from light.
