207. Heaven-defying Fate.

CHAPTER 207: Heaven-defying Fate.

----------------------------------------

At first, Felarial reasoned Dante must have left out Jay intentionally so that he wouldn't have trouble keeping track of his movements according to his own Fate Sequence whilst facing the Plasma Predator.

However, Felarial didn't believe that since Dante could have done the same for them and reduced their workload.

That brought him to the terrifying possibility that Dante couldn't see Jay's fate.

Rex and Seath were flabbergasted to learn Dante's ability. But Felarial was better off since he believed Dante to be the Holy Son of Fate, an existence that appears once every hundred million years.

An ability related to fate in the hands of a Holy Son of Fate didn't seem out of reasoning.

But what felt out of place for him was how Jay's fate could not be seen.

To confirm his speculation, Felarial peered using his innate talent, , to peer at Jay's Fortune Path.

When the First Round ended, he took a peek at the Fortune Paths of everyone in the Earth team except for Jay.

Back then, he was so overwhelmed by the emergence of a Holy Child of Fate that he overlooked someone stronger than himself while still was at Tier-2.

Felarial's ability came into effect as a Fortune Path illuminated behind Jay that only he could see.

The Fortune Path looked no different from an enlarged golden staircase ascending into the sky with magnificent doorways aligned across the path, each being larger than the preceding one.

The number of doorways on the golden staircase illumination determines the potential and the likelihood of reaching the respective Tier in the future.

The lowest result among the Earth team members was an Eight-doorway staircase Fortune Path, indicating that they all would reach Tier-8 at the bare minimum.

While Olivia had a Ten doorway staircase Fortune Path, Dante had an ever-changing one with no fixed Fortune Path.

Whereas in the case of Jay, the Fortune Path was obscured to the point he couldn't count the golden doorways illuminated behind him.

The enormous golden staircase extended so far it appeared as if it was a bridge connecting Earth and Sky.

Watching such an unbelievable sight unfold in front of him, Felarial could say with near certainty the number of doorways exceeded ten.

However, the stunning sight lasted no more than a second before a silver glow flashed out of nowhere and began disintegrating the entire Fortune Path into smithereens.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Felarial didn't even have time to wrap his head around the implication of such a heaven-defying Fortune Path and froze in his spot as a piercing pain stung his mind while an unknown power obliterated it.

The mind-numbing pain receded only after the Fortune Path vanished into nothingness.

The way he viewed Jay had changed once again. The mysterious veil grew even thicker as he couldn't make heads or tails when it came to Jay.

Soon, his thoughts were interrupted by the Plasma Predator's Fate Sequence, which overlapped with his position.

With no effective way of dealing with Jay and Rex, the Plasma Predator shifted its focus onto the other two members.

The giant monster darted towards Felarial and Seath, who were closest towards it and tried to squash them with a stomp.

Neither Felarial nor Seath made a move despite seeing it closing in on them at a breakneck speed.

They really wished to move away from their position, but they couldn't do so until the last moment.

Because if they do try to dodge before the monster even initiates an attack, that would mess up the foreseen Fate Sequence.

Only when its foot was halfway from landing on them did they dive away from that spot, evading being stomped in the nick of time.

Plasma Predator was taken aback by that. Initially, it was on the lookout for the Silver Energy that Jay was able to use back when he crossed several Trial Regions. Still, the Azure-coloured Energy alone gave it a headache.

It reasoned Jay and Rex were able to move at such speeds due to the Azure-coloured Energy. But seeing the other two dodge made the giant monster doubt its own capabilities.

Shaking away the scepticism, the monster went ahead and tried to finish them off one by one, starting with the weakest one among the four assailants.

Seath was prepared for that beforehand since he could see the Plasma Predator's Fate Sequence.

He dodged another attack of the monster by a hair's breadth, but the following one had left him in a pinch as he couldn't evade anymore with his stats limiting him.

The next moment, Pseudo-Plasma Energy-coated claws passed through Seath, and instead of a blood splatter, a glitch flashed across his body for just an instance and vanished without a trace.

It was Seath's top-notch skill, in action.

______________

: Allows the User to glitch through the SpaceTime Continuum for a one-tenth second at the expense of a Time Draft of the User's choosing.

______________

Seath practically becomes non-existent and invulnerable to any attack for that brief moment.

Jay brought in Seath to assist only because of that skill. Without it, Seath wouldn't have been able to last more than a second or two against the Plasma Predator.

Watching the weakest among the bunch remain unscathed from the series of attacks has annoyed it even more.

It attacked Seath relentlessly, waiting for him to run out of tricks. But its claws only met with empty air every time.

Meanwhile, Seath was not having it easy. He had to consecutively use several times at the expense of Spirit Energy.

Just a few seconds of a close encounter with the giant monster had cost him around one-fourth of his entire Spirit reserve, and if that continued further, he might turn into dead meat any time soon.

As Seath was busy saving his own life, he noticed the Plasma Predator ignore him and suddenly turn around and shield itself with its right arm.

The next moment, something happened, something that neither he nor the other two, Felarial and Rex, dared to comprehend what they saw.

Jay's fist blasted the monster's arm beneath the elbow into pieces upon impact.

His body wasn't just enveloped by the Pseudo-Speed Energy anymore as a thick layer of ink-black fog seemed to overlap with it.
