206. Fiendish Regeneration

CHAPTER 206: Fiendish Regeneration

----------------------------------------

Unlike Rex, who could match the speed of a Tier-4 High-Phase lifeform, Jay could go beyond that and move on par with those at Tier-5 Low-Phase.

Although they use the same Pseudo-Speed Energy, the speed difference stemmed from the gap in their base Agility stats.

Jay was the first to close in on the Plasma Predator, and Rex followed behind.

From the unbelievable speed at which Jay approached the monster, it was apparent dodging his attacks was in the bag.

But it never intended to evade in the first place. All the Plasma Predator did was coat its claws and the spikes extending along the spine all the way down to the edge of its tail with the Pseudo-Plasma Energy.

The pale-orange glow only added to the intimidation it gave off, and even the most powerful Alpha Chosen in the Tournament, Jay, was no exception.

He was pretty clear that if he were to take even a single strike head-on from the Plasma Energy-coated claws or the tail, that wouldn't bode well for him like how it did the last time.

The previous long-range attack from Plasma Predator didn't cause any critical damage due to the defence provided by the Centauri Kavach and the Pseudo-Speed Energy.

Aside from those two, his regenerative abilities played a significant role in mending his Health at a pace far above his peers.

With several passive Health regeneration skills in his possession stacked up together, he was no different from a lifeform with a Tier-5 Physique in terms of regeneration speed.

That included Spirit Energy and Stamina recovery as well. Jay relied on all three of those regeneration capabilities for a prolonged fight.

However, he didn't intend to go all-defensive since offence is the best defence. With the pseudo-speed Energy powering him to move at 590 meters/second, Jay shortened the distance between himself and the Plasma Predator in less than a second.

He went for the legs that were as massive as pillars. Evading the incoming claw swings, he sneaked under its legs and slashed with the tip of his palm.

Jay aimed for the weaker spot on its legs by going for the soft part of the knee joint. But when his attack landed, he felt numbness in his palm despite leaving a bloody gash on its leg.

The sturdy defence of its scales took him aback.

With the speed at which Jay was able to move, the damage output he brought forth was almost that of a Tier-4 High-Phase lifeform.

If it were any typical Tier-4 Mid-Phase monster, its leg would have been sliced off from that strike.

Jay's astonishment didn't end there as the laceration behind the giant monster's knee healed so fast that it took just a fraction of a second to return to the usual condition.

All his attack accomplished was to bring the giant monster down to one knee on the ground and inflict some pain in the process; that's about it.

Meanwhile, Rex did the same and slashed at the other leg, but doing so bore no result aside from making a small cut, which healed as fast as it was inflicted.

Despite leaving no lasting damage, Jay pressed on with his attacks on every weak spot he could land his eyes on.

Rex followed suit regardless of the inconsequential damage he dealt, even when he squeezed out a damage output of a peak Tier-4 Low-Phase Lifeform.

It continued for a while before their labour bore fruits. But not the way they expected. They succeeded in annoying the hell out of the Plasma Predator.

No matter how it swung its claws and tail at the annoying pests, not a single attack of it could land on them.

Jay and Rex always managed to dodge its attacks. What puzzled the monster wasn't just that they were faster than it but because they were able to move as if they knew where it was about to attack.

Little did it know the reason they could do that was all thanks to a certain someone predicting the Fate Sequences from far away.

Jay used his mind connection with Dante and pretty much peek a minute ahead into the future.

But the catch was that the future Dante foresees, or more precisely, the future actions of the Plasma Predator, could change anytime depending on the actions of those who possess the knowledge of the foreseeable events.

The best counter to do that was to wait till the last possible moment before making a move.

Jay and Rex were doing just that from the get-go and remained unscathed since the beginning of the clash.

Although they both knew when and where the giant monster's next attack was about to land, they moved accordingly in the short interval they had.

Rex was having a hard time following the Fate Sequences.

After all, through his mind connection with Jay, he was able to see his own Fate Sequences as well.

If he were to move any differently from his predetermined path, the future actions of the monster would change correspondingly as well.

So, he had to be mindful and move within his future self's path.

It wasn't just Rex who was facing that issue. Felarial and Seath had a similar dilemma as well.

They both didn't have much to do, with Jay and Rex keeping it occupied. Unlike the other three, Jay didn't face a similar issue.

After all, he had no predetermined fate trajectory to follow since Dante couldn't see one for him.

Rex and Seath didn't pay much attention to that, but being the keener one, Felarial caught onto that minor detail, and a possibility ran amok in his mind, shocking him beyond belief.
