After the test they walked back into adventurer's association, Gorbin woke up shortly after his match so he was able to move around, although with an additional migraine accompanying him.
"I said to be gentle, that heartless golem!" he said as he rubbed his head in pain
"You are not wrong, golems don't have hearts." Gabbie said to him
"Duh! I am talking about his sympathy" Gorbin rolled his eyes
They arrived back in front of the receptionist desk with Skylar taking her spot once again behind the desk. She reached down and pulled out three bronze name tags with the letter E on them.
Adrian and the goblins took them before stringing them over their heads as proof of their identity as adventurers. With this they would be able to travel to any city, and be exempt from entry fees as well as proof of identification.
Skylar then gave them a basic understanding of what to do as adventurers, it was quite simple. They just had to complete at least one quest every three months in order to keep their status as adventurers. They were also only able to accept quests within their rank as an adventurer, or the rank of their party leader.
Adrian walked over to the quest board and saw a bunch of requests posted on the board, the board only had quests up to B Rank so he assumed that the others were posted somewhere else. He looked through all the E and F rank quests trying to find one suitable for them.
They were still allowed to take quests of lower rank, but it would not fill their quota of one quest every three months. If they did not complete a quest within their rank for three months then they would be deranked to the rank below until they hit F rank upon which they would be removed from the association.
He looked through all the quests and found one about The Verdant Depths, the quest was very simple and it was just routine monster eliminating. The details just said to eliminate monsters from the spawners, to prevent a dungeon break.
A dungeon break is what happens when a dungeon has not had the monsters cleared in a long time and the monsters build up so much that they flood out of the dungeon killing everything in its surroundings. Although they do not last a long time because the monsters will die without the dungeon's mana it is still a very dangerous time period.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Due to the towns being built right outside of dungeons if a dungeon break happens then that town would be wiped off the map! Although this new dungeon has no inhabitants near it, with the influx of mana from a dungeon break its range may reach very near to Endless City.
Adrian picked up the quest before going over to Skylar to officially accept it. She noted it down, and told him he had to bring back proof of some monsters he had killed in the dungeon. Because there was not yet a branch of the adventurer's association next to that dungeon this was the best way they could do this.
She then returned the quest back to the board as this was a quest multiple people could accept at the same time.
Adrian asked her where the Commissioner's Office would be and Skylar gave him directions before he thanked her and left.
They eventually arrived at the right place as they saw a long line of people waiting outside of the building. Everyone was either waiting to pay their taxes, or they handled some other legal matters they needed to be settled.
The goblins placed their wolves inside of the public stable, and they all got in the long line. After a few hours pass it is eventually Adrian's turn.
"NEXT!"
Adrian walks up to the person at the desk as they ask "What do you need help with?"
"I am here to get a Land Deed"
The person looks him over twice before he says "A land deed for where? There is no spare land here in Endless City"
"No, not for Endless City, I want to get the land outside of a newly established dungeon. It is around a day's worth of travel from here. I have been living there for a few months and was told I need a land deed in order to be realized by the state"
"A new dungeon huh? I think I heard about that from some adventurers" the man twirled his mustache.
"But land deeds do take some time to process, and a poor person like myself won't be able to make the matter move any faster" the man said as he tapped his fingers.
Adrian realizing what he was implying took out his remaining silvers and handed them to the man "I hope this can make the process move a little faster"
The man slightly scoffed at the chump change he was just given before he rolled his eyes and pulled out a paper.
He began to ask questions as he wrote stuff down "Name of Dungeon? Name of the land deed owner? Approximate Location? Dungeon Difficulty?"
Once he had finished filling out the paperwork he pulled a stamp out and stamped the paper, making one copy for himself and handing the other to Adrian.
"Here is your land deed, taxes are to be paid to Endless City yearly on this date." He explained the regular laws and regulations for owning land before he eventually sent Adrian on his way.
With this paper he was officially recognized as the owner of the area around his dungeon. He would not have to worry about any people stealing his hard work. He was still going to have to build the town up, as there was not even an inn yet in his territory, but that was for when he got back.
