Several days have passed since the incident with ‘The Cowboy’. A beautiful bright blue sky covers the island along with a beaming hot sun. Yamato and Kiara are walking down a bustling street filled with people and the loud sound of honking cars.
“So why isn’t Kiria with you?”
“He’s still managing the situation with Mark Tilman. It wouldn’t be half the hassle it is if it wasn’t for the media. Anything that’s even possibly ‘Black Knight’ related has them flying in like vultures. That along with Shoma putting out a massive alert for the ‘Black Knight’.”
“Oh, yeah I bet that was annoying. I imagine they never gave you a break.”
Yamato begins vividly remembering a moment when Sky and Sierra Reeds were hounding him for answers.
“Yeah… You have no idea.”
“Oh! Speaking of the ‘Black Knight’, you got a good look at him right? What was he like?”
“He’s exactly as described. Fast, strong, relentless, and not to mention intimidating.”
“Really? I thought someone like him would be crazy.”
“Well… I don’t know. I have this odd feeling about him that I can’t describe… Oh Kiara, I never said thanks for helping me today.”
“Of course, I barely get any action anyways. And that goof Hibiki is helping Kenta with the serial killer, I couldn’t be the only rookie doing nothing.”
“You know, you should try not to talk so bad about Hibiki.”
“Ugh, it’s not like I want to talk badly about a fellow rookie. He’s just so… Irritating. He won’t shut up about how he should be doing more than what he is.”
“Heh heh, I can see it now. You and Hibiki will become the best of friends. Supporting each other through thick and thin, always by each other's side. This could be the start of something amazing.”
Kiara looks at Yamato enraged by what he said.
“UH YEAH MAYBE WHEN PIGS FLY!”
“Ahaha, I get it, but he is your partner. So maybe just… Try.”
“Hmph, I’ll consider it. So, where are we going?”
“Right, I did some digging on this drug dealer me and Kiria are looking for and I found out about a man named Kazu Kato. Apparently he had a run in with a man who had a ‘nasty burn scar’. That fits the only description I have of the drug dealer. They bought drugs off of him and after about ten minutes the men who took the drugs all burned from the inside and died. This fits all the information we have on the guy. But get this, they went to avenge their men, and during the altercation the guy grabbed one of their arms and the skin of the person he grabbed started burning and melting. They escaped, but ten minutes later that person died. Anyway I was able to get Kato’s address, that’s where we’re headed now.”

“Whoa… How’d you even get this information.”
“Well, I heard about the incident from some concerned citizens. After checking it out, I asked around and found out that the area where the incident took place was the same area that Kato hangs around. So I asked around to see if anybody knew about an incident with Kato and someone finally told me that ever since the day of the incident, Kato hasn’t been heard from. I was told to find his men and they should know where Kato is. After digging and digging, I hit up each of their locations one by one and got nothing until I met the survivor. He gave me Kato’s location and here we are.”
“Wow… Amazing work as usual Yamato.”
“Thanks Kiara… Anyway this guy is a drug dealer who works for Miguel, so we need to be careful.”
“Gotcha.”
Yamato and Kiara come to a stop at an eerie, torn down apartment. They make their way up a flight of stairs and stop at one of the doors. Yamato opens the door and he and Kiara walk inside. Inside, a man with brown hair and a fuzzy beard sits on a torn down bed in a messy room with his gun pointed at the two. Yamato takes out both his guns and Kiara takes out hers.
“I heard someone was looking for me. What do you want?”
“Kazu Kato, right? I’m detective Fujimura and this is detective Sakurai. We just have a couple questions we want to ask.”
“Sir, there’s no need for hostility. We aren’t here to arrest you.”
Kazu puts his gun away as Yamato and Kiara follow suit.
“Okay, then what are you here for?”
“Does a drug dealer with a burn scar on his face ring a bell?”
“... Yeah, it does. He’s the reason the only people I called friends are gone.”
“We just want to know any information regarding his whereabouts.”
“Ahaha, oh please, you think if I knew where he was I’d be here right now? I have no clue where he is. The guy covers his tracks better than anyone I’ve seen.”
“Nothing? Not even a clue?”
“Like I said, nothing at all. Now leave.”
Yamato and Kiara turn around and head to the door. Just before they head out, Kiara turns around and goes up to Kazu.
“What about something he said. Did he say anything that seemed unusual? Anything to to give us a hint like a motive?”
“Huh, you know there was one thing. He said that he’d get revenge for the sins of the past. For the ones that betrayed him long ago. I have no idea what it means though.”
“Thank you sir.”
Yamato and Kiara head out of the apartment. They walk down the stairs and stop in front of the apartment.
“Sins of the past? What could that mean?” Kiara asks.
“I don’t know. My guess is something bad happened to him that made him like this. I don’t think this guy’s a drug dealer at all.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just a hunch. But I think he’s giving out drugs as a front. Maybe like a test or something before he attempts his real goal.”
“Like he’s testing out his drug to get the perfect solution?”
“Yeah, something like that. And if I’m right, this guy could be a lot more trouble than I originally thought.”
