Confrontation Part 2

The chaos of the night continued to spread as Nishima’s threat loomed over Daimon Island. In the medical sector, Yamato, Kenta, and Kiara fought their way through an endless sea of panicked citizens. The sounds of desperate screams and honking horns were deafening, drowning out even their own thoughts. The crowd pressed in around them so tightly, they could barely move their arms.

“DAMMIT!” Kiara shouted, frustration sharp in her voice as she struggled to push forward. “WE’VE BEEN STUCK HERE FOR HOURS!”

“ALL BECAUSE A CERTAIN SOMEONE NEEDED TO GRAB HIS GUNS!” Kenta jabbed.

“I CAN’T FIGHT WITHOUT THEM!” Yamato fired back. “SORRY FOR WANTING TO BE USEFUL!”

“WHATEVER! JUST KEEP PUSHING,” Kiara ordered, gritting her teeth as the rookies pressed on through the swarm of terrified civilians.

On the outskirts of the commons sector stood an abandoned building, its structure crumbling and lifeless. Shattered windows, cracked walls, and years of decay gave it the haunted feeling of a place long forgotten. Armed guards patrolled every side, their automatic weapons gleaming under the dim glow of streetlights.

Two guards turned around a corner, their footsteps careful and measured. A sudden thud, followed by the faint rustle of a cape, caught their attention. They froze, scanning the shadows with their weapons raised. Slowly, they moved closer to the source of the sound, their grips tightening on their guns.

As they approached, a shadowy figure emerged from the darkness, Yuto. Before they could react, he moved with lightning speed. A loud thud rang out, followed by the crack of a gunshot.

The sound drew the attention of the remaining guards. Five of them sprinted toward the commotion, around the corner with their weapons ready. They stopped dead in their tracks when they found the other two guards unconscious on the ground.

“What the hell?” one of them whispered nervously, his hands trembling on his gun. “Who’s there?”

Before an answer came, Yuto appeared behind them like a phantom. With one punch, he rendered all five guards unconscious.

Yuto walked calmly toward the entrance, his cape swaying in the wind. At the door, he paused briefly before stepping inside. The building greeted him with a suffocating darkness, its cracked walls and scattered debris painted with decay. An oppressive, heavy aura hung in the air, as though the building itself was alive with malice.

Yuto moved through the interior. Dust-covered lab equipment lined the walls. Spiderwebs stretched across desks and machines. Yuto looked around, but saw nothing. The building was empty.

“Shunji, there’s no one here,” Yuto murmured through his earpiece. “Were we wrong to think Nishima would be here?”

“NO,” a voice suddenly rang out from the shadows, loud and clear.

Yuto spun around, his sight locking onto a figure emerging from the darkness. The figure stepped into the dim light, slowly shedding its silhouette to reveal Nishima.

“You weren’t wrong,” Nishima said, a sly grin twisting his face. “Though I must admit, I was expecting one of those pesky rookies to stumble into my trap. Imagine my surprise when the infamous vigilante shows up instead.”

“Where’s Riku?” Yuto asked, sharp and direct.

“Straight to the point, huh? Tell me, why do you even care about that girl? What does she have to do with you or whatever your goals are? Oh! Or is it that you’ve decided to play hero and actually save this GODFORSAKEN ISLAND?”

“Where’s the girl, Nishima?” Yuto repeated coldly, ignoring the taunts.

“‘What girl?’” Nishima mocked, his grin widening. “There’s no one here.”

“I’m not here to play games, Nishima.”

“AND NEITHER AM I,” Nishima snapped, his tone shifting to anger. “My plan had been progressing perfectly, until that annoying rookie interfered.Thankfully it was only a minor setback. And I’ll make sure there aren’t any others. So, ‘Black Knight,’ you’ve got two options. Leave now while you still can, or become nothing more than a footnote in my revenge.”

"You’re trying to turn the people on this island against the mayor. But it won’t be as easy as you think. You can rile them up, get them angry at him, but that’s as far as it’ll go.”

Nishima chuckled. “Oh, I’m well aware. But with a little help, I think I’ll manage.”

“Help?” Yuto’s eyes narrowed.

Nishima’s smile twisted into something sinister. “You think I’ve been doing all this alone? Did you forget about the men you just dealt with outside? I couldn’t do this by myself. That’s where my drugs came in.”

“Your drugs killed people. How did that help you?”

Nishima erupted with laughter, the sound manic and unhinged. “Do you really think that’s all I made? Of course not! Killing a bunch of addicts wouldn’t accomplish much. I managed to take a good percentage of Miguel Vazquezes money. You know, the guy who makes a living off his system of drug dealers. I couldn’t do that if everyone I gave the drug to died. So, I created a second drug. One that doesn’t kill.

He leaned forward, his crazed eyes reflecting an almost animalistic frenzy. “But every good thing has its price. I mixed obscene amounts of addictive chemicals into the formula, heroin, PCP, barbiturates, and some of my own special concoctions. Just a single drop could hook even the strongest mind. I passed it out around the city, giving it to anyone who fit the profile.”

Nishima paused as a twisted grin spread across his face.

“And the withdrawal symptoms? OUT OF THIS WORLD. Those people will quite literally lose their minds if I don’t supply them with more. THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO WORK FOR ME!” His voice rose with every word, his laughter echoing through the empty building.

“You think the people of this island won’t bring me the mayor? You’re half-right. They don’t have the guts to go after him. But it only takes one spark. One of my little addicted puppets to ignite the fire. And the rest? They’ll come running."

Yuto clenched his fist tightly, anger surging within him like a wildfire. “I’ve heard enough!”

In the blink of an eye, Yuto dashed toward Nishima, closing the distance before Nishima could even react. His fist connected with Nishima’s face in a devastating blow, sending him crashing through a thick wall.

On the other side of the wreckage, Nishima groaned as he slowly pulled himself to his feet. Blood dripped down his face as he wiped it with his hand, a twisted grin spreading across his lips.

“Damn,” Nishima muttered, almost impressed. “You hit a lot harder than I thought.”

Yuto advanced steadily, his piercing gaze locked on Nishima. Without hesitation, he threw another punch. This time, however, Nishima saw it coming. He swiftly dodged the attack and drove his knee into Yuto’s gut.

“Didn’t think I could fight, huh?” Nishima sneered, his voice dripping with mockery. “Let’s see how good you really are.”

Yuto didn’t respond. Instead, he charged again, his movements quick and precise. He swung a powerful punch, but Nishima ducked under it just in time. Yuto followed up with a second swing, once again, Nishima dodged it perfectly.

This time, Yuto unleashed a kick, catching Nishima off guard and sending him tumbling across the ground.

Before Nishima could recover, Yuto was already on him. He grabbed Nishima with one hand, easily lifting him off the ground like he weighed nothing.

“WHERE’S RIKU?! I’M DONE PLAYING GAMES!”

Despite the situation, Nishima’s lips curled into a sinister grin. His hand gripped Yuto’s arm tightly, and his eyes glinted with malice.

“Why so angry?” Nishima taunted, his voice calm and venomous. He grabbed a small packet strapped to his wrist, revealing a hidden syringe. "Maybe this will help with that rage of yours!”

Before Yuto could react, Nishima plunged the syringe into a weak spot on Yuto’s wrist, where his suit had no armor. The needle pierced through easily, injecting its contents into Yuto’s bloodstream.

Yuto cried out in pain and immediately dropped Nishima, staggering back as a strange sensation overtook him. His vision blurred, his body rapidly heated up, and his entire body began to quake uncontrollably. He tried to steady himself, but his legs buckled like they had turned to jelly.

Nishima stepped back, smirking coldly as he watched Yuto writhe on the ground. “I did warn you, didn’t I, ‘Black Knight? I’d love to stay and chat, but I must get going. Oh, and about those withdrawal symptoms, they’ll kick in within the day. Trust me, they’re far worse than anything I described earlier.”

Yuto reached out weakly, his fingers clawing at the ground as he tried in vain to pull himself up. His body felt like it was on fire, his muscles completely drained of strength. He could barely breathe as his vision darkened further with every passing second.

Nishima strode past him, calm and unfazed as he disappeared into the shadows. Yuto’s blurred gaze followed him, but his body refused to move. The searing heat in his chest intensified, and his mind spiraled into oblivion as consciousness slipped from his grasp.

“Yuto?Yuto?” Shunji cried out through the mic.

Finally, Yuto’s body went limp, collapsing fully to the floor as he succumbed to darkness.
