Chiori Hirayama Part 2

In the basement of Shunji’s house, Shunji’s locked in on his computer looking for information on Chiori Hirayama. Yuto walks down into the basement to see how Shunji’s doing.

“Anything?”

“Quite a lot actually, everything you heard was true. Awards from Daimon Technology Institution, Harvest, everything. She’s really good.”

“You think she’ll help with our problem?”

“That depends. Can she help us, yes. But can you get her to want to help us though?”

Yuto takes a moment to think about the situation.

“Look Yuto, not that this is a bad plan, but there’s too much risk here. There’s nothing to say that she’ll help a wanted vigilante. Also with how good she is, there’s a chance she could track us down and expose us. I don’t think it’s worth the risk.”

“I know Shunji, but when I looked at her… Something drew me in. I can’t explain it but it was like I was looking at my past self. That same desperate feeling to want to do something, but not have power to. Call it what you want, but I’ve got to give her a chance.”

“Alright fine, just know I don’t condone any of this.”

Shunji’s starts typing on his computer. After several seconds, he points to the screen to show Yuto something.

“This is where she lives, 1302 Holly street.”

“Thank you Shunji.”

Yuto puts the rest of his suit on and grabs the recorder as he leaves.

In the commons sector of Daimon Island, Yuto observes a small house from the rooftop of a building. Nightfall now approached accompanied with a howling wind like that of wolves. Yuto observes Chiori through a window of the house with an illuminated city in front of him.

She’s wearing pajamas and has her hair down while brushing her teeth. She leaves the bathroom and heads out of her room. After several minutes pass, her bedroom door opens and she walks back in.

“Yeah Yeah mom I know, I’ll make sure to-”

As she looks up, she’s met with Yuto’s terrifying figure. She looks behind him and sees her window open and wind blowing through it. As she continues to observe Yuto and look deep into his mask, she breaks into a terrified sweat as her eyes widen and heart races.

“Don’t yell, it’ll cause a problem for both of us.”

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Wh-what do you want? Please don’t kill me! P-please please please!”

“Calm down, I’m not gonna kill you.”

“T-t-then what do you want?”

“I need help, and I heard that my problem is your area of expertise.”

“What?”

Yuto pulls out the recorder and shows it to Chiori.

“This is an advanced recorder. There’s something I need on this, but all the recordings are encrypted. Can you break the encryption?”

“W-why? What’s on it?”

“Does it matter?”

“Y-yes it does. I’m not gonna help you if it means someone dies.”

“I see, no one's dying. This recorder has what’s needed to take down the corrupt Shoma Jiro.”

“Shoma Jiro? S-so he wasn't lying. You did break into his house and try to kill him and his son.”

“Is that what he says? It’s only somewhat true. I broke into his house to get this recorder. But he wasn’t at his house and his son was asleep.”

“W-why should I b-believe you?”

“You shouldn’t, whether you choose to is entirely up to you. But I’ve seen that look in your eyes before. You’re brave, the way you’ve carried yourself in this conversation proves that. But you also feel like there’s something you can do to help this city don’t you? You just don’t know what it is yet. So what if this is it.”

“So you want to help this island?”

Yuto takes a long pause for several seconds. He turns his head away from Chiori and looks out the window.

“No… I don’t…”

“Then what do you want to do?”

“It doesn’t matter, just know that for right now the part of my goal that I need to accomplish will help this island… I’ve given you enough information, will you help this Island or let it rot. It’s your choice.”

Chiori takes a moment to consider the offer. She looks deep into Yuto’s mask. She can’t see anything except a pitch black void. She hesitates, but eventually reaches out her hand.

“There’s so much corruption on this Island it’s not even funny. I love this island and its people. You’re right, I’ve always wanted to do something but I’ve never had the power to do it. I don’t know why, but for some reason I trust you. So hand me the recorder and I’ll break the encryption.”

Yuto hands the recorder to Chiori.

“How will I be able to contact you when it’s done?”

“How long will it take?”

“I don’t know, I don’t have all my equipment so maybe two days.”

“Two days from now at seven p.m., leave the recorder at Recreation Park under the middle red bench next to the playground. Make sure it’s concealed. I’ll grab it later.”

“What if someone takes it?”

“They won't, seven is when the park closes on the weekend. The police will escort everyone out of the park at that time. They are supposed to check the park after, but they don't do their jobs.”

“Mmm… Ok, I’ll do it.”

Chiori turns around and puts the recorder inside one of her drawers inside her dresser. When she turns back around, Yuto is gone and nowhere to be seen. She pokes her head out her window to find him but can’t. She then closes her window and lays down in her bed as she stares at the wall lost in a deep thought with a nervous look.
