Some time after the battle, the rookies are all gathered in the department. Each of them bandaged and tired. They each are conversing with their seniors about the battle.

Kenta appears to be getting chewed out by his senior, detective Ayano Yano.

“YOU IDIOT! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU LASHED OUT IN ANGER LIKE THAT!”

“Sorry detective Yano, I just couldn’t control myself. But hey, at least give me credit for finding the guy.”

“Oh please, you had lackluster evidence at best. You don’t get credit for taking a lucky guess and being right.”

“I just can’t win can I?”

Senior detective Kikyo Tahara talks with Kiara and Hibiki about the incident.

“Good job Kiara, you managed to keep everyone alive. At the end of the day, that’s all I could ask for.”

“Thank you ma’am.”

“And you Hibiki, even though you and Kiara don’t get along, you risked your life for her. I knew there was more to you than that cold exterior.”

“… Uh, t-thank you ma’am!”

“Heh heh, did you blush Hibiki?”

“Shut up Kiara.”

Senior detective Akira Fujimoto talks with Ava about the incident.

“I’m just glad you’re okay.”

“I’m not okay. I feel like I could’ve done more.”

“Heh, at the end of the day that’s how everyone feels. You did what you could and survived. That’s always a good thing.”

“Yeah… Thanks detective Fujimoto.”

Senior detective Kaeya Sakai talks with Kai about the incident.

“Seems like if it wasn’t for you, they would’ve died a lot earlier.”

“Yeah, but I barley got to help out.”

“Yeah, it was pitiful. You barley did anything.”

“…”

“That’s what you’re thinking right? Then next time, do better. And keep doing better and better until you know that you’ve given everything you've got.”

“YES SIR!”

Senior detective Kiria Akuma talks to Yamato about the incident.

“Good job Yamato, you perfectly analyzed your opponent and protected all the rookies.”

Yamato ignores Kiara as he appears to be lost in heavy thought.

“What’s up? Something bothering you?”

“Yeah. Ryota said I was bound to meet him anyway.”

“Bound to?”

“Yeah, I don’t know what he meant by that but I think there’s more to him and this case then he lets on. I need to find him again quick.”

“Let’s look into it first chance we get. For now you should go home and get some rest.”

“Yeah, okay.”

Captain James Sanders gets up out of his seat. The seniors and rookies get silent as they listen to hear what James has to say.

“All right everybody, while we didn’t get the serial killer Ryota Shima, the rookies still got invaluable experience for these situations. The rookies are also still alive. I say that's a win. Now everyone go home and rest, we’re gonna have a long day with the media being around us like vultures.”

Everyone leaves the department and heads home.

The sun rises on Daimon island, word about the incident with Ryota Shima has spread around. The DIPD is covered with many different kinds of media personnel. Sierra and Ski reeds have the main coverage over the incident.

“Good morning people of Daimon, it’s Sierra Reeds on RMN coming to you live about an incident that occured last night. At about ten thirty at night, DIPD sent their rookie detectives to arrest the infamous serial killer whose name we now know is Ryota Shima. The rookies were trusted to take down Mr.Shima but instead failed resulting in an injured Ryota Shima running around as well as two hospitalized rookies. I’m standing outside of the DIPD to get some answers on what exactly the DIPD plans to do.”

Captain Sanders walks out the building and gets flooded with reporters, Sierra Reeds included. In the distance, away from the media, Yamato and Kiara are talking to each other.

“Are you sure it’s even possible?” Kiara asks.

“I can’t say I’m confident, but I think it’s possible.”

Kiara takes a quick look at Captain Sanders and chuckles.

“I’d sure hate to be in Captain Sanders' shoes.”

Yamato takes a quick look at Captain Sanders and sees Ski Reeds. He immediately breaks into a sweat and grabs Kiara to move out of view. Ski manages to catch a quick glimpse of Yamato and walks toward his direction.

“What the hell Yamato!”

“SHHH! I just saw Ski.”

“Who?”

“Ski Reeds from RMN.”

“Oh the little sister of Sierra Reeds? So what?”

“Ever since she found out about last night, she’s been blowing up my phone trying to get an interview.”

“I didn’t know y’all knew each other. Heh heh, is she your girlfriend?”

“What no! We’re just good friends, but she’s been really annoying and honestly a pain.”

Suddenly, a hand grabs Yamato’s shoulder.

“Annoying and a pain huh?”

“Agh, uh, h-hey Ski. I wasn’t talking about you, you know?”

“No you definitely were talking about her Yamato.”

“Wha- Kiara, you’re supposed to be on my side.”

“Says who? Nice to meet you Ms.Reeds, I’m detective Sakurai.”

“Nice to meet you too. Please, call me Ski.”

“Then call me Kiara.”

“What were you two talking about? Was it about last night? Tell me everything? What happened? Are the other rookies okay?”

“You see what I mean Kiara?”

“Ahaha, look Ski, we’re not allowed to say anything. Just know that we’d all be dead if it wasn’t for Yamato here. He really showed us why he’s the ‘Star Rookie Detective’.”

Ski pauses and looks at Yamato in awe with a smile on her face.

“Wow Yamato! You’re amazing just like I thought.”

“Thanks. What we were talking about was a way for me to fly.”

“Fly?”

“Yeah, I can’t tell you much, but that battle really made me start thinking about it.”

“Yep, the problem is, Yamato’s guns only have a limited output. And Yamato can already barely control his powers. One time when he tried to increase the maximum output he almost blew his guns up.”

After listening to Kiara’s explanation, Ski takes a moment to pause before here eyes widen as if a lightbulb turned on in her head.

“There might be a fix to that.”

“Really?” Yamato asks.

“Yeah, your guns were created in the science department right? Specifically Daimon Tech which provides for the DIPD right.”

“How do you-”

“Oh please, everyone who’s researched you knows about your guns and where they were created. Plus you were the one who told me about those guns, but you seem to have forgotten that. Anyway, go over to Daimon Tech and see if they can upgrade your guns so you can fly. It’s worth a shot right?”

“Yeah, you’re right, Ski. Thank you!”

“Yeah no problem, I should head back now before Sierra gets suspicious. I know you don’t want her to question you and all. You’re lucky we know each other or that’s exactly what I would've done. Good luck Yamato. AND ANSWER YOU DAMN PHONE NEXT TIME I WANT TO TALK!”

“Aheh, sorry Ski, I will next time.”

Ski leaves Yamato and Kiara and heads back to Sierra who’s still talking to Captain Sanders.

“Well I guess I’m off to Daimon Tech.”

“Alright, bye Yamato. And stop giving Ski the cold shoulder, y’all two would make the perfect couple.”

Yamato sighs as Kiara walks away. He then walks to his car and heads for Daimon Tech.
