Chapter 84 Soldiers on the Monoliths
"Hahahaha, we have shown this bastard down there. let's see if there are other retards that will mindlessly attack us only to loose their lives."
"I hope so, otherwise it will take longer until I win my bet"
Two soldiers on top of one monolith started to chat. After a first attack of the enemy against their monolith, they had killed a few hundred thousand all together and now it seemed that the enemy did not want to continue their assault against the.
After a complete victory like this, how could they not start to look down a bit on them and feel good themselves? Especially when it was their unit that had caused the most causalities amongst the enemies. It was their skill in using the Blue Lightning Formations that enabled them to accurately slew the enemies and kill thousands of the assaulters and made the enemy headquarters stop the attacks for the day.
It was only natural that they would feel very smug right now and celebrate themselves as much as possible.
"Man, this poor retards that have caused their own end. It's their own fault that they died so miserable, if not for the dust that hindered their vision it wouldn't have been that easy to strike them down.
But who can they blame other then themselves? Either way good for us, we could easily locate them using the scout formations, while they were struggling to see even a few meters around them."
Another soldier in the vicinity threw in.
It was true, if not for the dust that made it impossible for the church's soldiers to perceive the danger they were in, they would have a much harder time to kill them of. Of course it didn't mean that their Blue Lightning Formations would become useless, but it would be harder for them to hit their targets unprepared and in order to reach the death count of today they would have to use at least three times the time and energy.
After all, there was no person that would voluntary let himself get hit by the lightning right?
"Ya right, it's their own fault. No blame at us. In the first place, how can they blame their attack on us? It's them who attack us.
Ah, by the way, what bet do you mean?"
A soldier that had been sitting in a corner stood up and joined the chatting.
"Oh you don't know? There are bets between most of the soldiers who will kill how many of this invader bastards before departing to hell. Almost everyone is percolating, I even heard that some wall commanders are getting on their best subordinates.
There I quite some money in this bets. I for example have bet that I will kill at least one thousand of this ugly guys before the next week. If I win I will get quite some money, eventually enough to get a house in the inner city.
But may, I can't believe you haven't heard of this. I mean almost everyone in the garrison has at least partaken in a bet on some guy. What have you done the last few days to not notice?"
The man starting the chat replied grinning to the man. The later just embarrassed scratched his head.
"Uh, I have spend the last few days in the red District. Wanted to kind of…. gave fun at least one last time before kicking the bucked.…"
The man embarrassed folded his hands. He wasn't looking old, only about 24 years old and it was obvious that he could be much older then his looks as he behaved pretty immature. Long black hair fell down his neck tied together into a ponytail. A red flushing face was framed by a few loose strands of his jet black hair.
For one moment it was completely silent inside of the room, but in the next moment laughter echoed through the hall way before it.
"D-don't laugh. I just did not want to die as virgin OK? What so funny about a young guys dreams? "
The laughter only became louder, as the other soldiers could hold it anymore.
"Boy, good that you have at least tried it once. At least you can die without regrets now."
Suddenly a bride man came in through the door. Scars went over his whole face and his hard, edged features made him seem like a disciplined old veteran. His in comparison small eyes, nevertheless gave of a friendly vibe and right now he had a small grin on his lips.
"Commander Loops."
The formerly laughing men immediately straitened up and saluted towards this giant like figure. Respect and recreation reflected in their eyes as they looked at him.
Unlike the normal soldiers in the room who had only become soldiers after the invasion of the church, commander Loops had already been a experienced soldier in the former Cers Kingdom. They all had heard about the numerous deeds he had accomplished in the sieges against the other cities in the kingdom.
Of course they, who had never experienced any war before had great reverence to a herolike figure like the commander and looked forward to work with him. In their eyes, he was someone that could lead them into victory, someone that had the ability to guide them into the way of great warriors.
"Commander Loops sire, what has led you here?"
The soldier who talked about the bets asked.
"Wanted to check out the guys who shot down the poor souls that charged at this fortress. You have done a good job killing them cleanly like this. Because of this we were able to get a day out of them without loosing a single men on our side.
In short words, Good Job!"
He gave them them thumbs up.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Slowly bride smiles spanner across the soldiers faces. They were complimented by the man they admired, their idol! To them it was much more then just some words. It was a recognition of their efforts.
"We are not worthy of this words."
"Year we have just done our Job"
They politely replied, but inside of their heads they could not help but feel proud. It was their work that made a commander respect them.
In midst of this marry thoughts, a bell suddenly rang out, alarming everyone in the room.
"Sigh… Seems we celebrated to early. Men back onto your post and no worries. We have shown them last time and we will show them again. This is our land and they will have to pay a painful price if they even just dream to get into our city."
The men resolutely nodded.
"Let's show them what kind of men we are."
"Fuck men, shoot this sons of pigs down."
"Yeah, fuck them"
They quickly got back to their respective arrays charging the energy into them.
The arrays (Autors note:will sometimes use it instead of formations) were made out of three different formations on a wall before them. One was namely the Blue Lightning Formation they used to attack. Another one was a Scout Formation used to make out the exact position of the target and precisely focus on it. The formation had the affect similar to a radar.
After channeling their energy into them, a map of the whole area appeared inside of their minds making the exact positions of the enemy forces. With and thought they can easily zoom and lock onto a certain target. Then the third formation was used. It was called Heavenly Aim Formation and used the data of the Scout formation to guide the aim of the soldier.
It provided them with a scope like vision that was able to lock onto the target and move according to it's movements. When the Blue Lightning is then activated it will precisely land on the spot the Heavenly Aim Formation was locked on.
The use of this array might sound easy, but in truth it was exceedingly difficult to actually use. The sniper had to manually search for the target on the Scout array and use this data to lock onto it at the same time. Furthermore he had to provide enough energy into all three arrays while managing them at the same time.
Multitasking was only a basic requirement, it also required enough experience in it and a strict training. After all every use of the array would deplete quite a bit of the user energy and even though the monoliths had qi gathering formations that helped them recover, it still put them under quite a bit of strain.
But every soldier in the garrison was specially trained and so they quickly found into their posts and got ready to fire down everything inside of their range.
"What The Fu…."
As they looked at their scout formations the only thing the soldiers saw was a single person advancing into their direction. Through the Heavenly Aims scope like vision they instantly recognised this person as a single youth advancing onto them.
"Do they want to fuck me? This bastard from the watch do the think that getting the arrays ready is easy? Fuck them!"
A soldier cursed.
"But what does a single soldier wants to accomplish charging onto us? Is he tired of living?"
Another threw in.
"Most likely some bastard thinking he can change the whole war alone. This small kids that believe themselves to be invulnerable."
"He what's to be a hero hm? I will show him what it means to go onto a battle field. Die little bastard!"
One of the soldiers suddenly activated the Blue Lightning Formation and instantly a single Blue Lightning stroke fired out of the formation and closed onto the youth.
"That's with this nuance, let's go back and eat something."
Another soldier said, clicking with his mouth. He did not believe that some kid could survive a hit of the Blue lighting and wanted to get back eating. After all he too was pretty pissed because of this disruption because of some overly confident youth that believed himself to be a hero.
He already stood up and prepared to go, as he suddenly noticed the shocked expressions of his colleagues still at their respective arrays.
'Could he have evaded the lightning?'
He thought to himself. Right now there was no dust covering the lightning up and if the person had enough skill he could indeed dodge the strike. But this would need a real deal of skill and to be honest the man couldn't believe that the youth had enough skill to pull something like that of.
Nevertheless he got back to his array and activated the slope vision.
Before his eyes, he saw the youth standing still there a hand stretched out into the air as if to catch something flying at him. And from his open palm a small cloud of smoke fixed uncovering completely unscratched skin.
"Impossible"
The man explained gaping at the sight before his eyes.

"Tach, it's only so so."
The youth standing before the monolith said retracting his completely unscratched arm.
"But I can not really expect to much of arrays against normal footsoldiers can I? I should come back later and try out one of this four governors. Maybe one of them will be able to challenge me a bit.
But for now…"
He turned around and slowly left.
"I should first go away and let this poor guys up there get over their shock."
A small smile curled.
