Chapter 53 One hundred years
Les, Zoe and Maaran were standing around the dead body of Reis located in a deep crater almost in the middle of the formerly beautiful square. The square itself was also almost completely blown apart. Holes were placed all over it making it seem a scene out of World War 2. The great trees on the sides were all burned down and their charred trunks were sticking upwards making the atmosphere of an intense battlefield perfect.
In middle of that, Les and Zoe were holding Reis as tears were flowing from their eyes and falling onto the ground only to mix with the grey dirt and dust. Even though Les and Zoe had only knew Reis for a few months, in this time they had been together almost all the time. In fact, in Zoe and Les hearts Reis had been something akin to a sister. So it was only natural that Reis unexpected death heavily impacted them.
Maaran was standing a few steps away, silently looking at the scene. He also liked Reis and he felt that it was unfortunate that she died. But he had only met her recently and never had a chance to get a relationship as deep as Les and Zoe had. Furthermore, ever since the invasion of the demons, where he had personally witnessed the deaths of many dear people with his own eyes, it had long since changed something in him making him unable to truly cry over Reis death. To really cry or to just make a play, what do you think shows more respect to a dead person?
In the end Maaran just stood there, immersed in his own thoughts. Suddenly his face changed, so as the girls’ and the other demons’ faces changed. As Zes killed the deities and the Kun clan elders only to vanish in the next moment, Maaran already knew that this time Zes was truly enraged. Enraged to a point of no return. Something that would change Zes forever. Actually Maaran thought that it was regretful. He had always liked Zes’s carefree and cheerful personality and his lenience towards the demons. But now this would change. He had seen it in Zes eyes and felt it in his aura. This time Zes would truly change in his core and this change would have an impact on the whole world.
And now he knew, just what Zes would do to vent his anger and punish the demons. The thought itself made Maaran shudder. Even though he was quickly cultivating and he knew that in this realm there was nothing that would stop his progress. Right now deities were still mighty and powerful beings for him. But Zes had just announced to kill every single deity! This was akin to lowering the general power level by one level.
Just as he thought that, he felt the space ripple next to him. He turned towards the area. Cracks were dancing in middle of the space showing the darkness that existed in area outside of the space. Suddenly an ice cold aura emerged and instantly flooded the whole square or rather what was left from it. Different from before, this aura was not oppressive nor did it do any damage to the surrounding. It was completely illusionary only heavily impacting one’s mind. Finally the small cracks connected together and completely opened up the space.

Zes came out from the unending darkness. It certainly was Zes but if Maaran wouldn't know Zes’s face really well and knew that he was the only person that would appear here at this time, he likely wouldn't be able to connect this version of Zes to the Zes he knew.
It wasn't only the cold and desolate aura surrounding him, his face had no expression at all. Only his eyes showing a bit of indifference. There was nothing of the former playfulness and the playboy attitudes left on him. All of it turned into a wall of ice, which no one was able to cross.
Only indifference in it, Zes gaze met Maaran’s eyes.
"I have taken revenge…."
Maaran had no idea how to respond. He understood that Zes wasn't only talking about revenge for Reis’s death. It was revenge for everything he and humanity had to endure in the last 11 years. It was the payback for all the grief and hate they had to endure. But just what should he say after seeing Zes in this state?
Zes didn't even wait for Maaran to answer. His gaze fell on Reis dead body that was still held by Les and Zoe who were crying even more, after seeing the change Zes had. As Zes looked at Reis, for the first time something else than indifference could be seen in his eyes. His facial expression on the other side did not change at all remaining frozen. A deep feeling of affection and guilt could be seen in Zes’s eyes, the only part of his body still emitting any emotions.
He came closer and stretched his hand out, touching Reis’s cold cheeks. Suddenly a light enveloped his hand and quickly spread over Reis’s body. It was a light green light, pulsating in a strange rhythm that could cause one to loose himself in it. Zes smiled a hollow smile.
"You shall live again!"
Those muttered words caused a huge change in Reis body. The blood once again began to pump through her body and her skin took a better color. Zes saw that and retracted his hand. His eyes had once again returned to the indifference from before.
"One hundred years. You have once hundred years to reach deity exceeding stage."
Then he turned around and left. Maaran that had received a message through divine sense hurriedly followed behind. Then the two figures disappeared.
