Untimeliness

33. Untimeliness

----------------------------------------

As we were on the road, I and Ynnihlas were mostly quiet. I feel a bit weird to see him being so friendly with me. I really don’t get it, is it really so easy to get friends in this world?, everywhere I go, people consider me a friend..

I can’t tell what’s going on in their little heads. Am I, a trustable person? I definitely don’t think so.. Am I a good person? Only when I feel like it..

So right now I was having a dilemma figuring out whether is there something’s wrong with me or them. A worthless dilemma— might I add.

I sighed. Ynnihlas looked at me, “What are you thinking about?”

“Nothing..”

“It doesn’t look like nothing, but whatever’s fine with you.”

I nodded and after a few more minutes, we arrived at the destination. The carriage didn’t have any windows, so I didn’t know where we were.

The butler was the first to open the door. He left the carriage and kept the door open for us.

Ynnihlas left and so did I just right behind him.

I looked around and saw that we just passed a gate.

A pure white villa.

It was an exquisite building. It was very big. And no dust could be seen on its shiny white surface.

“You like it?” Asked Ynnihlas from the side.

“It’s very good.” I nodded.

“Okay then let’s head in.” He said with a smile as he gestured for me to go ahead.

As we got closer to the villa. What looked like workers all lined up with a red carpet between them.

I looked at Ynnihlas with a questioning gaze.

“Don’t worry, they’re just following orders.”

I understood.

We walked through the red carpet and we arrived before the villa’s door. A beautiful middle-aged girl made her appearance at the end of the line.

She bowed, “Welcome back from your journey, young master.”

“Thank you, Anna, oh— and by the way, this is Leonidas, he’ll be staying here for now. I hope the guest room is nice and tidy.”

The maid looked at me with a smile, “Of course, you can follow m-“

“Not now Anna, me and Leonidas here will have to go somewhere else now.” Interrupted Ynnihlas.

I didn’t know what he had in mind, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

“Follow me.” He said.

I just looked at him and then followed. We entered inside the villa and went towards what looked like a living room.

I sat on one of the couches.

“Want some tea?”

“No thanks.”

He poured tea for himself and sat down.

He wore a serious expression as he looked at me.

“Tell me Leonidas, did you happen to go against a Dragon-Blood a few months ago?”

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

“And what if I did?”

Was this his true intention? The reason why he invited me here?

Looking at my eyes, Ynnihlas widened his eyes, “That’s not the reason I invited you, I hope you don’t misunderstand, I was also looking to find a Dragon-Blooded creatures, until I heard about a demon in Silesia defeating one, that’s why I asked.”

“How can you know that demon is me?” I smiled.

Ynnihlas sheepishly scratched the back of his head as he fidgeted, “Well Leonidas, you see..because of your kind’s ways, they don’t go around these parts much these years, and you were near Silesia..so I assumed it was you.”

I tried to read him. It doesn’t seem that he is lying, but he isn’t entirely telling me the truth either. I didn’t really trust him much.

“It was indeed me.” I confirmed his thoughts.

“Good.” He said.

“Eh? Why is that good?”

He contorted his features into a mournful expression, his eyes downturned and his lips quivering with an unmistakable sadness.

"I'm pleased to know that the blood did not fall into the hands of the wrong person."

He started blabbering about words I didn’t know the meaning to. So I helped myself, “What’s that supposed to mean?”

He chuckled, “You saved a lot of lives Leonidas - yet you don’t know it. But all I can do is thank you for that and offer you my help whenever you need it.” He bowed his head a little.

More words that I don’t fully understand. I saved people by doing what? But then, I remembered something.

“Are you talking about the blood of that Lizard?”

“Hahahaha” He started laughing. Looking at my serious face he stopped.

*Cough *

He waved his hand, “I’m sorry, it’s just that you took me by surprise.”

“How about telling me what is going on, Ynnihlas.” I was tired of this conversation.

Ynnihlas smiled bitterly, “You can call me Ynni, anyways, I should tell you everything.”

He took a deep breath, “If somebody else obtained the body of that dragon-blood, they would use it for the wrong reasons. Dragon’s blood can be miraculously or disastrous. It all depends on the intentions of the wielder. But in the end it fell on your hands. So I guess that’s a good thing.”

“How do you know that I won’t use it for ‘disastrous reasons’?”

“Eh?”

He was taken aback with my question. This fella is still hiding something and I intend to find out what it is.

“W-well, you don’t look like a person who would use it like that.”

“And why is that?” I continued to pressure him.

“It’s because I know.”

Again with the dumb reasons..

“We’ve only seen each-other twice, how can you know me?”

He started to get frustrated, he opened his mouth to retort but he couldn’t find his words.

He calmed down and took a long breath.

“You know, my sister died because someone poisoned her. I couldn’t live with myself and blamed myself for her death. I blamed myself for not trying harder to save her. It was frustration I couldn’t ever imagine. I held her small hand everynight as I prayed for help to come. Only for it to never arrive.”

As he neared the finish, he clenched his heart. An indescribable emotion appeared on his face.

I sighed.

“It’s a very touching story, but there’s nothing that connects me in this topic.”

It was silence.

“I didn’t think that I would have to show you this.” He also sighed.

Just as he finished his words - a book appeared on his hands. The book was halfway wrapped in leather, he unwrapped it and a black cover was shown. The book looked rather old and dusty.

“What’s that” I asked him.

“My grandfather’s journal, he left me with a lot of important information. My grandfather recorded all important information that happened across the kingdoms, continents even.”

“And..”

He opened the book and started to read something.

“5 months in the Year 1477 of the New Avalon Calendar, a demon will arise from the shadows and gain fame across the borders of the Sun Kingdom. Until the year is over, he would rise through the ranks of adventurers and become known as the savior of Princess Rebecca.”

I was confused.

“Aren’t we still in April?” I asked.

He smiled, “let me finish”

“Year 1478, the demon continued to rise as he moved across the kingdom of Ciao. Year 1479, he went to the Mayr Kingdom, He entered the Welirian tournament and easily won the first place. He gained a lot of fans, but he also became the enemy of the Mayr Nobles, especially the Zerrian Family, one of the three duke families. With the strength of the Zerrian Family, the demon wasn’t able to fight back. He was captured. Year 1480, the demon was able to escape, with him he took 9 people who were also victims of the Zerrian Family’s unjust oppression. That year he went into hiding.

Year 1481, the Zerrian Family was annihilated completely, even the archmage, the head of the family didn’t survive. The demon gained the nickname ‘Disastrous Raven’. He was a wanted person inside the Mayr Kingdom, and any information related to him was rewarded very handsomely by the royal family. However the Royal Family of the Heliorr Kingdom showed interest in the demon and they took him in their kingdom. The Royal family of Mayr was dissatisfied with the move of the Heliorr Kingdom, but they didn’t take any action. Afterwards, the demon was never seen in the Avalon Continent..”

I was dazed.. I was confused..

“Time travel?” I mumbled

Ynnihlas also looked at me in shock. Which made me think this really was time travel.

At this moment the silence was loud, loud enough to hear my heartbeat.

“Are you saying that your grandfather is a time traveler? Is this mentioned demon me? Explain!” I started to get inpatient with him.

“N-No!”

“What do you mean no!” I was confused at his response.

He gulped, he opened his mouth but no words came out, until he finally managed to mutter.

“I am a regressor…”
