35. Line of Time
----------------------------------------
As I heard my grandfather mutter, light flashed my eyes and I was no longer there.
My mind was in complete turmoil. A massive headache magically came to me, I couldn’t even open my eyes properly.
Only when I could. I saw a different place. I was inside a room, I threw a look at every side and corner and I found out where I was. My childhood room.
I looked at my hands and they were smaller than what I remembered. Currently I was laying on the king-sized bed. I quickly got up and went towards the mirror at the side of the room.
I was ..young. I only looked like this when I was only around 12 to 13 years old. I touched my little face in amazement.
“I really came back!”
*Tac* Tac**
*Click *
Someone knocked the door and came in.
Someone who I hadn’t seen for a long time entered the room.
“Paul!”
Paul was my butler during these times, but when I became around 15 years old he died while protecting me from assassins.
I refueled my resolve with determination. I had to change a lot of things, and hope everything is going to be fine.
Paul looked at me with an apologetic face, “I’m sorry young lord, I didn’t hear you wake up.”
“E-eh? It’s fine, no need to be so stuck up.” I smiled.
This time he even bowed, I was truly confused, until I remembered something.
That’s right! During this period I was quite ..arrogant and selfish, so it’s probably why Paul is acting like this. Only a year later would I get out of my rebellious and arrogant phase, and that was only after I went outside of these walls.
“I told you it’s fine Paul, no need to sweat it.” I once again reminded him.
He raised his head slightly and saw my expression, only then did he nod and continue to speak, “Breakfast is ready young lord, your grandfather also came home just this morning, he was hoping to see you before he leaves once again.”
After finishing his words, Paul left and closed the door, leaving me alone in the room pondering.
“Status” I mumbled. I don’t clearly remember my strength during these times.

Everything looked fine until I saw the title I never had, appear in the interface.
I tried to see it’s description but I couldn’t. I didn’t know what purpose it serves but I hope that others can’t see this, especially grandpa or father, they’ll immediately figure out what’s going on.
I took a deep breath and planned what I was going to do.
Firstly I needed to get my father back on track. Although he still misses our mother and so do I.., but only when Amelia got seriously ill, did he truly fall down. Right now, whatever poison Amelia has got in her system is only in the first stages, at these times she only gets a bit sick and pukes at least twice a week. Other than that, there’s nothing else.
Right now I needed to look for the antidote. Suddenly I remember something. The journal!!. I looked at the bed in panic.
*Huh *
I took a breath of relief when I saw the ancient looking book just at the corner of the bed. Although I have no idea how could it come with me in another timeline, I was grateful, I also looked for the pocket watch, but it was nowhere to be seen. Well— at least I have the journal. With my grandfather’s help, I’ll be able to look for this ‘demon’ he mentioned and save my sister.
But first I need to get a class. Right now I only needed four levels and I would be able to pick a class and only then would I receive stat and skill points.
After I was done looking at my status, I removed the pajamas I was wearing and changed into some casual clothes.
Only then did I go downstairs, where I saw my father, grandfather and …my sister. I held my tears and slightly bit my lip. I had to be strong and not draw any attention. I can’t screw anything up.
“Good Morning!”
I greeted as I sat down at the table. My father and sister looked at me weirdly, while my grandfather just laughed lightly as he said, “It seems your rebellious phase is over huh? You’re my grandson after all hahaha.”
I just looked at him and nodded with a smile. I was happy. Everything is fine right now, but that’s going to be changing soon. Unconsciously, I looked at my sister, who was also looking at me while tilting her head.
“Is there something wrong Ynni?”
I blinked.
“A-ah no, let’s eat.”
I stopped looking at her and started eating the breakfast that was prepared nicely. I haven’t eaten so peacefully for a while. I might aswell enjoy it..

3 years later.
I became 16 years old, my sister also started to get very sick these days and can barely get up from the bed. The only reason I couldn’t do anything until now is because nothing on grandpa’s journal could be of use. The demon that grandpa mentioned only appeared around the year 1477 in the Sun Kingdom. And today is the day that the 1477th year of the New Avalon Calendar begins. So I got ready to set out. I didn’t exactly know where in the border of the Sun Kingdom, but I had to search. One good thing is that demons don’t really hover around those parts.
I had to make excuses to my father on the reasons why am I leaving, ‘to gain more experience’ was what I said.
“Have a safe journey! Young Lord!” x2
“I will Paul, Anna!”
Father had work to do, while grandpa went out to search for an antidote. I managed to get my father’s mental health on track after succeeding on convincing him that mother wouldn’t want to see him in that state and that he still had a family who supported him.
While grandpa went away, traveling just like the last time. To not change a lot of things I didn’t stop him.
With me were only two bodyguards, who were also riding the carriage. That was all I needed for this journey along with the other necessary things like food, water etc..
A week of traveling, I arrived at the neighboring city of the capital. I headed towards east of course, towards the Sun Kingdom. After I arrived at the city, I took a couple of quests. I had awakened a special class. It was a class that didn’t appear in the other timeline.
Two years ago, I leveled up to 10 and surprisingly I had met the requirements for 4 classes, unlike the other timeline where there were only 2.

[ Mage ]
[ Mage of Nature ]
[ Time Mage ]
[ Paranoid Regressor ]
Last time, there was only [ Mage ] and [ Mage of Nature ] which I had chosen the second one, because it was a specialized class. However, unlike then now I had two other unknown classes.
[ Time Mage ], from the name, I could pick up things but I couldn’t see it’s description as I could with [ Mage ] and [ Mage of Nature ]. That’s right, I couldn’t see the description of [ Paranoid Regressor ] either.
I was really frustrated. But in the end I decided on [ Time Mage ]. I played it safe. [ Paranoid Regressor sounded too fishy, it would also cause problems if someone found out in the future.
After I picked that class, I immediately gained two skills and an affinity.
Gained Affinity [ Time - Mid ]
[ Lesser Mana Manipulation ]
[ Time Heal ]
Although the affinity wasn’t that high, the time affinity was extremely rare, and since the era of heroes more than a thousand years ago, time mages could only be counted with a two hands.
As for [ Time Heal ]. It could heal wounds, it was like reseting the time where the wound didn’t exist, but it wasn’t always useful, it couldn’t heal deep wounds. Only bruises, scratches and light injuries, sometimes even sickness. I even went as far as using it on my sister, but as I had expected it failed.
After I took some quests on Ikras, which was the east neighboring city near the capital, I leveled up a few times, reaching Level 17.

I focused more on Intelligence as I am a mage afterall. Spirit was my lowest stat. Spirit was a stat that represented will. There are not many races that have the Spirit Stat. Elves have it because they carry the will of nature, well a form of it in a way. But there are cases where somebody who isn’t born with it gains it after they get a class or a class evolution.
After two months of traveling, I arrived in Walroe city, the farthest you can go east in the Caio Kingdom.
I entered along with my carriage, there weren’t a lot of people in the street, it looked rather dead.
I facepalmed myself after I remembered. 1477, a virus spread in the kingdom. It mostly targeted the commoners who had low levels. After three years, the royal family managed to make a cure and saved as many of the commoners as they could. Even after six years they still didn’t know what caused it. Most of the nobles suspected it was that organization, but they weren’t so sure.
I headed towards the
After I asked about a few things, turns out they didn’t know anything. So we set for Walroe.
The closest city near the Sun Kingdom’s borders…
☾ ☾ ☾
After a bit of traveling. We crossed the border quite easily. And here we are in Silesia, a mediocre city at most, but it feels quite pleasant.
Unlike Walroe, here in Silesia people are swarming the streets, and everything is fine. I really wonder what can give a person so much fame these parts.
From the information I have, the guilds around are really greedy. They would do anything to make the enemy guild fall. The humans always had a twisted side, but in the end everyone has a side they don’t want any part of. But such is the way of nature, cruel and unbiased..except for when it comes to elves.
I sent my bodyguards to gather information about a demon wandering this place and what they came back was that a demon recently left after registering himself at a guild. I didn’t know what to do. I had made many plans, but I can’t chase after someone I don’t know anything about, it was simply time consuming, and It’s not like I had a lot of time. If I don’t get to that demon this year, who knows if I’ll be able to find him next time.
So I chose to go to the guild that demon was last seen, the name of the guild was ..
I entered the place, in which only silence took place. As any normal person would do after entering a guild, I went to the the pretty receptionist.
In the other timeline, I had a lot of offers for marriage from various nobles offering their daughters, but I didn’t reply to a single one of them. After trying many times, they just gave up. Some even questioned my preferences. I didn’t care about such things back then since I was preoccupied with my sister. But now, I plan to live the perfect life. Save my sister, succeed the family throne and then get married with a beautiful girl and shower my father and grandfather with grand-children and grand-grand-children. If it was anybody else having an opportunity to leap time as I have, they would probably use it to get stronger, rule and obtain opportunities they never had, but not me. After all the things that happened I just want a quiet life with my family. The role of family head would indeed be hard to fulfill, but I didn’t intend to have everything easy. A bit of challenge always makes life beautiful.
Ending my thought monologue, I went closer to the receptionist.
“Hello! What can I do for you?”
She was cheerful.
“I was wondering if there have been any newcomers around here.”
“Newcomers?” She put her hand on her chin as she pondered.
I couldn’t ask the question I really needed, but by using tricks I could gain what I’m looking for.
“There hasn’t been any, it’s actually the other way around, more people are leaving as time goes by.” She sounded regretful as she continued, “Claus was very sad when a friend of his just disappeared.” She looked towards somewhere else, making me follow sight I also turned my head to where she was looking.
A blonde guy and a middle-aged man were sitting at a table. The blonde looked rather sad while the middle-aged man just comforted him.
“Was it a close friend?” I asked curiously.
She chuckled, “Claus sees him as a friend, although Claus is very friendly with everyone, even I couldn’t believe when he made friends with a demon.”
A demon? I don’t know if it’s the one I’m looking for, but It won’t hurt to investigate.
“That’s impressive, demons are usually the type to keep to themselves and can’t be casually befriended, your boyfriend sure is an interesting guy.” I chuckled.
Her face was flushed red in embarrassment as she managed to mutter, “H-he’s not my b-boyfriend.”
She also might have said that too loud, making the people who were inside the guild turn their heads towards her. Even the guy she called Claus looked over as he wiped his snot with a napkin.
When he saw the girl flushed red, he immediately got up and came towards me.
“Oi!, are you thinking you can take my beautiful Beatrix away from me? You damn pointy ears!”
I blinked. “What are you talking about? I was just talking to her.”
He raised his nose, “Humph, you can’t lie to me, I know a grabber before when I see one, and you reek of a grabber.”
His sentence didn’t make any sense to me, so I tried to get information from him by changing the topic.
“I heard you lost a friend recently, I’m very sorry. I saw a demon pass by before I entered this city.”
It was his turn to blink, the middle-aged man was closely behind narrowing his eyes. Claus seemed to think about something and then looked at me suspiciously.
“If you’ve really seen him, then you can describe him for me right?”
I was a bit surprised, this guy is much sharper than I thought, but I already had an answer for him.
“Although I didn’t see him really closely. He definitely had pointy horns and his entire aura screamed pride. I was very surprised such a strong person was around here.”
My grandfather didn’t describe much about the demon on his journal. Only that the demon was very prideful and ..greedy. But I didn’t say that. Greed is something every strong person holds, and it’s not something you can tell, so I went with the other word which was Prideful. In grandpa’s journal it was said that the demon once killed a viscount of Caio kingdom just because he sent assassins to kill him, and before he impaled a sword in the viscount’s heart, he said, ’If you sent stronger people after me, I would have spared you.I hate weaklings who don’t know their place, so die for making me disappointed’
Even I was shocked when I read such a thing for the first time.

After listening at my description, they were first surprised, but after a bit of what looked like thought, The middle-aged man nodded, “Leo indeed always had that kind of aura around him.”
I looked at the boy named Claus and swayed my hand forward, “My name is Ynnihlas by the way.”
He looked at my hand and then me with an analytical eye.
“Claus, I don’t think he’s lying.” The middle-aged man commented as he patted his shoulder.
Claus once again looked at my eyes and then shook my hand with a smile, “A-ah sorry for the behavior, my name is Claus, nice to meet ya!”
“Nice to meet you too.” I also returned the smile.
This guy is very …interesting.
The change in expression was truly masterful.
“Sorry for his behavior, my name is Brandon.”
We also shook hands.
“A-ah, It’s fine, I would also be suspicious.” I scratched the back of my head and continued.
”Anyways, I need to leave. I’ll treat you guys if we ever meet again.”
“S-sure!”
They were at loss. I abruptly said I needed to leave because I wasn’t ready for the next question.
‘Where did I see the demon?’ I didn’t have an idea, I only made that out so I can find more information.
I found out his name was Leo. Weirdly enough, the name of the demon was never mentioned in my grandfather’s journal. One would think that if a person has the capabilities to destroy a dukedom everyone would know his name. But in this case, weirdly nobody knows, not even my grandfather who has studied his every move.
I left and looked at the two bodyguards and nodded. I entered the carriage and left the area.
*Horse Sounds*
*Tap* tap*
I opened a little window that the carriage had and talked quietly, “At night, you two go and investigate the forest near this city, if you find a demon or someone suspicious, you immediately tell me.”
The bodyguards were more than trained enough not to question any of my decisions.
“Yes young lord!”
◇ ◇ ◇
I woke up next morning. I slept in a random inn. I looked forward to the information gained by the two, and when you talk about a wolf the wolf is behind the door.
*Knock* *Knock*
“Come in.” I voiced out as I took a sip of my tea.
The two came in and bowed respectfully.
“We sighted unusual people in the forest.”
I was satisfied that there’s progress and gestured for them to continue.
“There were two people who didn’t seem to be from around here, so we used the Eliunor Family connections to find more about them, they seem to be a part of a guild that’s located in Bylmind.”
“What did they want?”
“We don’t know..” They bowed their head apologetically.
I sighed, “It’s fine. Be more active around that area and try to find out the intentions of those two.”
“Yes young lord!” x2
They bowed slightly and left.
I was left alone and my thoughts. I was sure that the demon— or Leo didn’t leave yet. There should be a city threat coming— and the demon would save the city from the threat. A threat I have no idea a out.
It was really frustrating even thinking about it. The image my grandfather created about this demon was vague and unpredictable. One day he could be next to you, next day he could be at the other corner of the world.
But if I knew what this threat is going to be. I can track it. If I can track the threat I can also track the demon who is meant to destroy it.

Fifteen days later.
I was currently drinking calming tea. Even after fifteen days I had not a single lead.
*Knock* *Knock*
“Coome iiin.” I said lazily.
“The guild members of the “I see. Is there anything else?” Both of them nodded, “Yes, the enemy they we’re fighting almost immediately killed them after what looked like interrogating. As for the Interrogation, we were too far away to hear anything.” I was a bit mad. “Is there a reason you’re telling me this?” *Cough* One of them cleared their throat and continued to talk, “E-em young lord, the one they were fighting looked like a human… but he had pointy horns, unlike any beastmen We’ve ever seen, so we thought it might be the demon you’re looking for.” The teacup I was drinking cracked under the pressure I put when holding it. I calmed down as I looked at the two of them. “You …could have started with that fucking information first…”
