Party and Games

It’s been two weeks since I came to this villa. Mostly I had nothing to do. I integrated the skill card that I exchanged with the princess and studied it and see if I can replicate the fire snakes with other forms so I can create a more versatile skill. After two weeks of training, I only came close to manipulating the shape of the snake, but it was so little that one could barely see it.

I could make the fire snake’s fangs more sharper, and also I could add little horns to the snake, but that purely was because I was testing my results, not because the snake actually attacked with its horns.

The level of the skill went to level 3. As for the other skills, they were stuck at the same level.

Luckily, the villa had a huge training ground, so I had no worries of tearing the place down. Ynnihlas also joined me for a spar sometimes. He was awfully weak, but had a very good swordsmanship which impressed me.

Today we’re going to the Sun kingdom border, near the city of Bylmind.

According to Ynnihlas, two weeks later, there will be an assassination targeting the princess.

And if it really happens, It will prove that almost everything Ynnihlas told me is true.

I wore some of the clothes I bought when shopping with Ynnihlas.

And because I have no lack of money, I bought the most …expensive.

All the clothes I bought were exquisite, leaving me with little casual clothes.

“Have a sweet journey, young lords.”

Both Anna and Paul spoke with a respectful tone.

Ynnihlas was keen on making the servants in the house treat me in the same respect as him.

In a way, if I’m considered the successor of a grand archmage such as the old man. I don’t think I’m below in status to Ynnihlas, who is the heir to a Marquis house.

It also works very well with me. To have such a status, I don’t need to work all day looking through matters of a family. If the old man told me to become the head of the Spellfinden Family, I would refuse. Such matters won’t make me strong, Independence will.

So in a way. I got only the benefits of a successor. That’s something I’m somewhat grateful for.

“Thanks Anna, Paul!”

Ynnihlas waved his hands at them and got inside the carriage with me.

I specifically told him to find a normal carriage. The other carriage was rather too …bright and could be seen from miles away.

The horses didn’t change. They were quite fast. Fast enough to impress the hell out of me.

If I’m as fast as a supercar of my old world, they were as fast as normal cars, which says a lot about their speed.

This speed also reminded me of the massiveness of this world.

In my previous world. 8 hours of road could get me from one state to two others. And that’s if it’s without traffic. Yet here, to cross only a third of the kingdom takes two and a half week of travel at normal speed.

That was a fact that didn’t make me discouraged, but excited, because it was a fact that told me that there’s a lot to know and discover.

I get goosebumps thinking about such things. Ynnihlas eyed me suspiciously, probably because I let out an evil grin.

“You should wipe out your killing intent before you stop smiling like that.”

Stolen novel; please report.

He shuddered a little.

“Aah—“

I unknowingly let out my killing intent out. I helped out Ynnihlas to be able to endure killing intent. It was more like, I let it out when he was near me. So he’s a little used to it.

I guess?

He was looking a bit paler than usual, but he had huge progress, before he had even problem breathing properly.

Killing intent doesn’t weaken you physically at all. But if the opponent is way weaker than me, it can effect his mind, which would cause inefficiency in combat, meaning the opponent can’t use his full strength.

But when I asked Ynnihlas about information regarding how killing intent works, he only told me that it’s hard to project it.

However it was fairly easy for me.

I thought about death and projected it along with my mana, which created a red aura around me.

However when I received [ Magic Intent ], it was a way easier process.

*Hiya*

*Horse Noises*

*Hiya*

As I hear the noises, the carriage finally started to move.

“I’ve got cards and board games.”

Ynnihlas sounded rather excited.

I was rather stunned, “why would we need cards and board games?”

“So we don’t get bored. I almost died of boredom the two times I travelled these months.”

His answer made sense so I nodded.

I looked at him, “What are you waiting for, let’s play!”

“Eh? Now?”

“Yes!”

In the end, most of the board games were nothing like I knew, so he had to teach me. There was chess with the same rules as I know. The only difference was their name and design.

A castle is called a Magic Wall. The bishop is the Magic Musketeer. The knight… magic knight.

The queen and the king was the same. And the pawns were called warriors.

The moved the same way, the board was the same, so We spent our time mostly playing chess.

Ynnihlas was surprisingly strong. Strong enough to consider chess champions a joke, and the most advanced chess engines as kids.

But he still couldn’t manage to come close to me even if I held back on my moves.

Chess was one of the games I perfected in the void. One of the games that made me waste my time for a bit along with other games which I knew the rules of. I also created various similar games in my head just to ease my boredom in that mental place.

“Ugh! How are you so good?”

Ynnihlas was scratching his head in frustration as he looked at the position of his pieces on the board.

“Practice.” I smiled

“That still doesn’t make sense. In the previous timeline, I was know as a Magic Chess Prodigy at the age of ten. I was able to beat my father and grandfather with my eyes closed. Yet you can lead me to such tragic fate every single time.”

“Maybe your father and grandfather lied to you and let you win.” I smiled even more

He scoffed, “what about the crown prince, the princess and Uncle Miron?”

“What about them?”

“I never lost when I played them.”

“Maybe they’re are just bad.” What I had on my face wasn’t just a smile anymore, it was a grin.

A grin which made his face a deep red, profiling a rather angry face.

“The crown prince is known for being a genius mage, and a once in a century strategist. My uncle on the other hand, although not blood related, has built one of the most known merchant company from the ground up. The princess… she was rather easy, but she is still a princess!”

“Maybe you all suck.. Anyway, let’s play another game.”

I changed the topic. Which made him even madder.

“Aghh! Let’s play Raditz then.”

“That game again? Okay sure.”

Another week passed.

The games started to get boring. In every game I was taught by him, I managed to defeat him. There was only a few days left until we arrived at our designated location.

So I quit the games and started reading books.

“Just how the hell do you have so many limited edition books?”

Ynnihlas asked me.

I blinked.

“What do you mean.”

He sighed

“There are certain books that have only a few copies. They are called limited editions.”

”I know what limited edition means, but are the books I’ve read that important?”

“— ‘The Minute’ ; ‘Tragic Fate’ and the ’Mythos’ book you are currently reading are something even my family can’t get a hold of, yet you treat them as everyday waste. You might as well give them to me.”

I only read those books because their covers were nice, who could have guessed they’re special. ‘The Minute’ and ‘Tragic Fate’ were novels who were written very well. While the other book ‘Mythos’ was a book that held information about special beasts. Even Dragons, Phoenixes were mentioned along with some other mythological creatures I had heard about such as the White Tiger, Black Tortoise, Taoties and even Medusa, which is an ancient race of snakes, on par with Dragons.

I was quite surprised at that information, but before I could finish the whole book, we had arrived at the destination.

I could faintly hear music enter my ears.

“Do you hear that?” I turned to Ynnihlas

“It’s probably the doings of the Princess, she is known for throwing parties wherever she goes.”

He answered me casually, as if what the princess was doing is normal.

“I see…”

I didn’t say anymore and opened the little window near me. I looked as we crossed the border and entered Bylmind. It turns out, unlike Silesia, Bylmind acts as a border between the Sun and Caio Kingdom these parts, so we didn’t need to travel even more after we crossed. Thankfully.

“So what do we do now?”

Ynnihlas asked me excitedly.

I looked at him dumbfounded, “aren’t you supposed to …know?
