31. First Cliche

----------------------------------------

☆ ☆ ☆

Two months passed.

Without stopping much I have arrived at the capital. That was the shortest way to get to get to the Mayr Kingdom, and I followed that way, which led me here at the capital of Caio, to Cisessenia. It was a beautiful city. However the city was clearly split in two. And walls were the ones who were doing the splitting. Inside the walls, in the middle of it, was a huge castle. I could see it from far away.

Unlike the other cities, the capital was clear of worry, the streets were swarming with people, all of them had a smile in their face, I even wondered if they knew what was happening outside this city.

I also noticed a pretty huge statue. It was a man who had his sword aiming at the sky. Just below the statue there was text.

‘The Hero Leon’

I hummed. Right now I only knew of two heroes, Kazeem and Leon, I didn’t care much about their names, neither did I care how many of them are there.

I quit looking at the statue and instead I wanted to find a restaurant, the capital should have better food than others.

So I asked a person about the best restaurant in the capital and he replied with this.

“The best restaurant? It’s Delux, but we commoners can’t really afford it can we, but if you’re looking for a place to beg you might score something.”

Since when was I taken for a beggar. I ignored the guy and asked him about the location.

After I got the location, I went there.

It truly looked magnificent, the restaurant looked better than any five star hotel. It feels weird comparing.

I entered inside and to my surprise, there were not many people. I saw some people, and they looked rather rich. I didn’t know if they were nobles or not, but they certainly knew how to be extravagant.

I could see a young girl with hair that reached her knees and there was a lot of gold designs on the hairs. She was rather beautiful, but not my type, she was the crazy kind and jealous kind. It’s not like I knew her, but call it intuition.

I sat on a table and crossed my knees. A waiter came immediately as I sat.

“What can I get for you sir!” The waiter gave me a professional smile.

I smiled back and said, “Give me the dishes you cook the best.”

I didn’t bother to open the menu and said. I was curious.

“There is a lot of things we do the best in the kingdom, so-“

“But there’s always something people like more, right?” I cut him off.

The waiter felt perplexed and nodded, “o-of course, what about a drink?” He asked.

I’ll have the best wine. The waiter seemed like he wanted to say something but held back.

“I’ll be right back with the food, enjoy the music while you’re waiting.”

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

He left.

Wait?

Why do I get the feeling that something like this has happened before. I swear to god if they also play that shitty song, I’m going to raise hell to the entire restaurant.

Contradictory to my thoughts, normal music was played.

Is it violin? I didn’t really care, not hearing that song was all that really mattered.

I waited for another five minutes and the waiter came, placing different dishes all around the table. The aroma was entering my nose, provoking me to start.

After he was done putting the dishes to their respective places he poured me the wine.

“Thank you.” I nodded and he left.

Steak, potatoes, sauce, salad, squid, fish with a lemon on the side and lastly red wine.

I licked my lips. I picked the knife and the fork and started to eat slowly. I like food but I am not the kind of people who start to eat like pigs after they were hungry for weeks. Even without the scoldings of the old man, I wouldn’t stoop to such a level. I don’t really care much about how others see me, I care more about—self-respect.

Twenty minutes passed and I finished eating. I have to say that it’s the first time I have eaten anything this good for a lifetime. I even felt that I gained a stamina point. I checked.

And to my surprise I really did gain a stamina point. I was surprised, I didn’t think that food could give me such a thing. I was very satisfied.

Suddenly, I felt steps coming towards me, at first I though it was the waiter, but when I threw a look, it was that girl I previously saw along with two others, one was another similarly aged girl and the other was a short, middle-aged bald man. He wore an arrogant expression as he looked at me and when he was finally right in front of me he scoffed.

“I heard that you dared to look at my dear concubine, is that true?”

“Hoo” I was amused, I never thought I would be a part of such a cliche scenario in my entire life, yet here I am.

“And what if I did?” I asked with a smile. I wanted to see what they would do, I only looked at that girl once, while the girl has had her eyes on me the whole time I ate.

I looked at her, and as a reply she smiled at me mysteriously.

“How dare a mere peasant look at my property.” He started spitting in my face.

Something I didn’t like. So what did I do? I grabbed his throat. I was no longer sitting with my knees crossed. I stood up and grabbed him by his throat and held him in the air.

“Now, now, I don’t like having your spit in my face, how about you leave, and I won’t kill you? How about it?” I looked at him while smiling.

“You! Let me go, I’m a Baron, I can have your head-“

He started choking as I started to freeze him up a little, I didn’t kill him though.

Before I he really died, I released him from my hand, letting him fall on the ground.

Cough * Cough * Cough * Cough*

The other woman supported him while patting his back, while the long-haired one just looked at me amusingly.

I looked at her and said, “How about you tell me what do you want?”

She chuckled, “I was just testing you.”

“About what?”

“To see if you are qualified to be my husband, afterall that trash is only a baron, he doesn’t deserve me.” She said proudly with her chin raised while she covered her mouth.

“Hahaha” I laughed and she even joined me.

[ Name - Selena ]

[ Level - 15 ]

[ Class - Mage ]

I stopped laughing and looked at her with a smile as I said..

“Now tell me, what makes you think I like you?”

Silence..

The woman looked at me and chuckled, “Hahaha, you’re quite funny too.”

I fluctuated my mana. “You’re just trash in my eyes, get out of my sight!”

“Wha-?” She was shocked and gulped, she stuttered, “B-but I’m beautiful, I-I’ll be your concubine if you want, how can you refuse me.”

Is she for real? I looked at her, she had black hair and blue eyes, she had an exquisite jawline and a pretty face. She was indeed beautiful, but that doesn’t mean shit to me, if I like a woman just because she was pretty, I would have run after Tina or Beatrix who were much more beautiful then her, but I didn’t.

“You’re not interesting, I don’t like you, that’s it. If you don’t get out of my sigh, I might have to use other means.” I looked at her with killing intent.

“B-but I’ll be doomed, he won’t accept me anymore.” She looked at the bald man, who was looking at her furiously.

“You Bitch! How dare you betray me!!!” He pointed his finger towards her.

Suddenly three people showed up out of nowhere.

“I’m afraid you’re causing a ruckus here, Baron Weisley, I suggest you leave before things escalate even more.

Spoke one of them, he had a cat mask on.

The baron looked at the masks and was shocked, “A-ah, I’m sorry! I’ll leave immediately.”

I looked at the newcomers with curiosity. They were able to shut up a baron, one must have extraordinary power to do that.

The baron left while dragging the woman’s hair and the three newcomers were left alone with me.

“I apologize for the trouble caused onto you, you can consider your meal on the house.”

Spoke the same guy, while the two other just stayed quiet.

“It’s fine.” I nodded.

“Well then, you can stop by again any time, we’ll be leaving now.”

The three left. I was left alone.

I gulped down the wine.

“Tsk, how lonely.”
