9. Knowledge and Secrets

“Ah I see, but who was this enemy that the demons and heroes were battling, The Demon God?” I asked him sarcastically.

“Demon God? No….

…… it was the Angels”

He looked confused at my sarcasm as he answered.

“Oh I see” I nodded.

“Wait whaaaaaaaaaat?

The tea I had in my hands spilled all over me.

“What was that about brat?”

The old man looked at me confused and slightly angry that I spilled the tea all over the place.

I look at him and asked.

“You mentioned the heroes being summoned, who summoned them?”

“It was the kingdoms of Avalon, each kingdoms sacrificed around one billion mana crystals to be able to summon a hero.”

“Mana Crystals?”

The old man eyes me and said.

“Brat! I am not going to give you history lessons, this library has plenty of books to read, there are even novels if you want. I got a ritual to prepare”

“Alright.”

After finishing our conversation he left. Leaving me alone in a room full of books. If it was in my past life, I wouldn’t even consider touching a book, unless it was a light novel.

But this world, is really more different then I thought. Demons, Heroes, monsters, kingdoms exist. But it feels that there is much more to it then I though. Firstly I though it was just a fantasy world, but the scenario here is different then the ones where the heroes are summoned to fight the demon king with the help of a goddess. In this world almost the total opposite happened.

The knowledge of my past life isn’t really accurate anymore. I guess I’ll have to read the whole library now.

Let’s hope these heroes have left something good in this world.

I get up from my seat and grab the nearest book I could find. It had a red cover and had dust on it.

I brush of the dust in my hands and I could see the title of the book.

‘Potions and Alchemy’

‘Written by Kelio Herr’

Yeah …..Definitely not reading this.

I grab more books.

‘Biography of Zemin Fracci’

Nope

‘Human Anatomy’

Nope

‘Monsters Anatomy’

Nope

“What the fuck are these useless book”

I threw them in the farthest corner I could see and started searching for more interesting books.

‘Adventures of Nemo’

“Pfffft” Well at least I confirmed that we come from the same world.

I started searching for more books until I found one that I liked.

‘History of Avalon’

‘Written by None’

I didn’t plan on reading the whole book, but I had to know the basics of this continent.

I open the first page and it started with theories on how the continent was found bla. bla.

Until the more important information appear.

The Avalon Continent once had two Empires and two Kingdoms, until the two empires fell apart and split and formed other Kingdoms.

In total until today.

The Kingdoms are ;

Mayr Kingdom

Rain Kingdom

Meeland Kingdom

And each of these kingdoms had the same hierarchy of Nobles.

The lowest rank being baron, The highest being Duke.

Baron ; Viscount ; Count ; Marquess and Duke.

At the top of the kingdom stood the King.

At least not everything has changed…

I memorized the names of the kingdoms and closed the book. The book also had other information such as the history of each kingdom and the ruling family and how the two empires separated, but that’s not information I needed right now.

I put the book in my [ Dimensional Storage ] just in case I needed it.

I started reading various books, but these two were really helpful —

‘Magic Theory’

‘The Interface’

Basically the book ‘Magic Theory’ held information about magic and its grades. About the Mana manipulation and how it’s considered an universal skill because it’s something everyone can do if they practice it.

It also gave me the information of elemental magic.

Using your affinity to use Elemental magic. Elemental magic can be categorized as.

First tier spells

Second tier

Third … and so on until the ninth tier.

For example..

Fire magic, [ Fireball ] is a first tier spell.

Earth magic, [ Earth wall ] is a first tier spell.

…

But the book called ‘The Interface’ gave me chills.

The status screen is more different then I thought. The status screen is not the same for everyone.

The humans don’t have subspecies which was understandable and instead have classes like [ Mage ] [ Knight ] [ Thief ] [ Swordsman ] [ Summoner ] which are basic classes.

But the interesting part is that there are an uncountable special classes like [ Battle Mage] [ Dragon Warrior ] [ Wolf Summoner ] [ Light Swordsman ] and a lot more specialized classes.

As long as you have met the requirements you can choose a class.

In general the stats of the humans are almost the same as demons and the only difference is that demons have [ Stamina ] and [ Vitality ] but humans have [ Endurance ] and [ Condition ].

But humans might have changes in the stats when they change into special classes.

As I read through this information, I understood why humans wouldn’t fear demons. The high possibility of having a special class raises their confidence but that doesn’t mean that they can go against demons at anytime. The demons also had the [ Subspecies ].

Which gave them skills. When I evolved into a [ Middle Demon ] and chose the subspecies [ Crionic Devil ] gave me two skills [Lesser Mana Manipulation] and [ Strengthen ] which I have already evolved.

So overall this world can be very unpredictable. In its own way it’s fine, it would be boring to know everything. It’s like a funny meme, when you see it you laugh your ass of but when you see it again and again you become immune to it.

The emotion that are left in me, are strangely looking forward to what this world has to offer. Let’s just hope those damned heroes left coffee …or …Nutella at least something good , please!.

If somebody looked at me they would see a demon praying sarcastically with my hands together.

I finished ‘praying’ and instead of finishing reading the books I found interesting and needed, I might have stored half of the books in library in my [ Dimensional Storage ].

One can’t blame a man for being lazy for the right reasons and in this case the reason is ….sleeping.

That’s right, with the help of the skill [ Meditate ] I can let myself fall asleep. I didn’t need sleep but I certainly like it a lot more then reading boring books, I already have the knowledge I need right now. So what’s the harm in a little sleep.

I didn’t have a bed to sleep in so I had to make one.

I almost forgot I had [ Thread Creation ] and used a chair to sleep in.

I made huge chunks of threads and hopped on. It felt like heaven. My back was tired of the fighting and a man needed his massage, but I had to do with the cotton feeling bed I had right now and hope for a wealthy future to afford a maid.

Snapping out of my fantasies I closed my eyes and used [ Meditate ]. Bit by bit my consciousness was leaving me and my surroundings darkened.

Until…

“Ouch!!*

I opened my eyes and in my sight appeared an old man who looked like he was screaming at me.

“Speak more clearly old man”

I said to him.

“Youuuuu! Damn Brat!, I thought I told you to study, yet you are sleeping, are you kidding me? And since when did a demon learn to sleep?”

“What does me being a demon have to do with learning how to sleep, old bat?”

I fired back at him and saw his fumming face look at me annoyed.

“Brat, unless a demon wastes a skill slot for a sleeping skill, they won’t be able to fall asleep unless they use artifacts which can only fall into the hands of noble demons.”

“I do indeed have a skill for it, so what? I felt like it.”

“So you do indeed have an artif—?”

The old man stopped after my words registered in his brain and looked at me in shock.

“You wasted a skill slot to be able to sleep? Are you crazy ? If everybody started to accept useless skills in their status screens just because they felt like it, the whole world would have died against angels, damned brat!”

I look at him scolding me and say this to shut him up.

“I don’t have skill slots and can have unlimited skills.”

He looked at me to see if I was joking and when he saw my serious expression he gulped down my words.

“ Did you just say —“

“Yes what you heard was correct.”

It doesn’t matter whether I tell him or not, sooner or later he will die. It’s not like I have lost all of my emotions but there is nothing I can do to help him, when I try to bring up his condition he just dodges me. So at least he will know that his legacy will be in the right hands, this is all I can do to thank him.

“But how is this possible? Nobody in history could have unlimited skills, not even the heroes.”

He looks at me looking at me for answers.

However this time I could only tell him half of the truth.

“I have a passive skill called [ Unlimited Potential ] allowing me to have no limit in skills and stats.”

He felt enlightened at my words and blurted his opinions at me.

“That does give you unlimited potential, for example, if a [ Mage ] practices [Fireball] he would have the opportunity to get it as a skill and no longer would have to cast it manually, but with just a thought. However no one in their right mind would accept it and sacrifice a skill slot only for a first tier spell. But you can accept them all and won’t have to chant in you lifetime. This is …..marvelous!.”

I looked at him with a smile.

“Are you sure you want to know about my skills old man? Can you handle it?”

The old man switched from the look of admiration for me to anger in a matter of seconds.

“Damn brat! Be serious for once, tell me what skills do you have ?”

“Why should I tell you?”

“I am giving you my inheritance yet you are ungrateful, damn brat!”

“Fine stop spitting at me”

I look at disgusted as I wipe the saliva out of my face, ….using his robe of course.

“Do you want to know my Universal Skills or my skills?”

“You already have skills?”

“Yes”

Cough “Tell me all of them brat or I’ll beat you to a pulp.”

“Tsk”

I look at him disgruntled and started to tell him my skills.

“I have seven universal skills, Food Resistance, Identify, Mana Manipulation, Mana Shot, Magic Missile, Mana Claw, and Mana Coat and Magic Intent.

As for skills I have four…

Night Vision, Enhance, Thread Creation ,Meditate and oh… it seems I have another skill waiting for me to be accepted and …. Acquired [ Instant Ice Mana ].”

I look at the old man and his jaw threatened to fall down.

“H-H-How?”

At his question I smiled and replied.
