Kit woke the next morning with a splitting headache. He groaned and grabbed his head. His mouth felt all furry and gross. He swung his legs off the bed and sat up. He had to sit on the side of the bed with his eyes closed for a minute to stop his head from spinning.
A groan sounded from Kit’s bedroom floor. Kit looked down to see Peaches and Mars sleeping on his floor. Why are they in his room?
Kit tried to remember how they got home and realized he came up blank. The last thing he remembered was making his 20th batch of the spiced rum. It seems he’d forgotten everything after that.
Kit watched as Mars rolled over and hit Peaches in the face with his wayward hand. Kit stifled a laugh. Peaches groaned then pushed Mars’ hand away and sat up. He stared at Kit blankly from the floor.
“Where are we?” Peaches looked around the bedroom in a daze.
“This is my bedroom inside the boarding house. Peaches, do you remember what we did last night?” Kit hoped at least one of them would remember what they had gotten up to after his blank patch of memory.
Peaches squinted his eyes in thought. “No all I remember was tasting your spiced rum. I can’t recall anything after the 20th batch. Kit, I need some water, where’s your kitchen?”
“Ahhh, it’s too loud. My head is killing me!” Mars clutched his head and rolled around on the floor. He bumped into Peaches with his movements. “Kit, please tell me you created something for hangovers last night.”
Kit shook his head then groaned, moving his head so fast was a mistake. “I haven’t made anything for hangovers. It would be a good idea to try to make something like that, I’m sure it would sell well.”
Mars sat up and wrinkled his nose. “What’s that smell?” Mars started looking around Kit’s bedroom. Then he stared down at himself. He pinched his shirt in between his finger then lifted the fabric up to his nose. “Never mind it’s me.”
Kit burst out laughing. “Kit don’t laugh I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who smells.”
Kit bent his head down and took a whiff of his body. “OMG you’re right I do smell. I’m going to have a shower. I suggest you two have one as well, then we can try to figure out what the hell happened last night.”
All three of them headed to the bathroom to clean themselves up. Once they had finished, they wandered into the kitchen. Kit was the first to arrive. Cupcake was stirring something in a large pot as he arrived.
“Boss.”
The smell made Kit’s stomach churn. The food didn’t smell bad, just the thought of eating food made him want to vomit. “Morning Cupcake, what are you making.”
Cupcake took out a bowl and ladled some in, then he placed it in front of Kit. “Head.”
‘Head, what did that mean. Wait was this for a hang over?’ Kit looked at the bowl in front of him in a new light. He pushed down the uncomfortable feeling inside his stomach and forced himself to swallow the liquid.
A warm sensation filled his stomach then started to spread all over his body. Soon his headache started to disappear as well as the uncomfortable feeling in his stomach. Kit’s eyes sparkled when he stared at the soup.
“Cupcake this is amazing! Thank you for breakfast.”
“Welcome.”
Kit soon polished of the remainder of the soup. Mars and Peaches joined him just as he was finished. “Quick have some soup, it will get rid of your headache.”
Mars and Peaches looked at the bowls being prepared for them by Cupcake with eager faces. Kit watched in amusement as they wolfed the soup down. While they were eating Kit decided to see if Cupcake knew what they had gotten up to last night. He hoped they weren’t too loud when they came home.
“Cupcake do you happen to know what we did last night.” Kit waved his hand at Mars and Peaches so Cupcake would understand who he meant when he said we.
“Sing.”
“Sing?” Kit was tone deaf. He really hoped he hadn’t started singing in front of people last night. He wouldn’t be able to show his face in public again if he had.
“Sing loud.” Cupcake nodded at Kit with a huge grin.
Kit felt his face flame. He was doomed!
“All sing loud.” Cupcake then pointed at Mars and Peaches, the large man became even happier to be pointing this fact out.
Mars stopped eating at Cupcakes words. “We all sang last night?”
Cupcake nodded to Mars. “Loud.” Cupcake seemed to be enjoying answering their questions.
Kit’s attention wandered to the front door when he heard it open. “Are the good for nothings awake Meow Meow?” Kit recognized the sweet voice, a shudder went down his spine.
He listened to the gentle steps approaching the kitchen. Snickers soon came into view. Her eyes narrowed when they landed on him. Kit gulped.
“M-morning S-snickers.”
“Don’t good morning me. Do you even know what you did last night.”
Kit had a bad feeling it wasn’t anything good. “I don’t seem to remember.” Kit whispered.
“You don’t remember, or you’re choosing not to?” Snickers eyes narrowed even more.
“I really don’t remember none of us do.” Kit watched as Snicker gave him one of her creepy smiles.
“Then shall I tell you?” Kit felt like he could not say no.
“Please.”
“You got the whole fucking village drunk last night and turned the whole place into a live musical. It was a living nightmare. None of you could actually sing in tune! It sounded like a bunch of screaming banshees. It would have been ok if it was just you three making a fool out of yourselves. But no, you had the bright idea to give away free samples, so the whole fucking village joined in.” Snickers sucked in a breath then spat out more words.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
“It didn’t stop there Kit. Someone decided that it was not festive enough just to sing so they made paper confetti. Now the whole town is covered in tiny pieces of paper! Do you know who that person was Kit?”
Kit had a bad feeling that he was going to be the culprit.
“IT WAS YOU! Not only is the town a mess, but I MISSED OUT ON ALL THE RUM BECAUSE I WAS WORKING! Do you even know how many barrels of rum you made yesterday, and I did not get A SINGLE DROP!”
Kit was pretty sure Snickers wasn’t angry about him messing up the village or getting the entire village drunk last night. He was 100% certain it was because she missed out on the alcohol. At least making her happy again could be easily fixed. He would just make her some rum!
But what was this about him turning the village into a live musical? How did that even happen? Kit knew he couldn’t hold a tune, he would never embarrass himself by singing even if he was drunk. He had a feeling Snickers wouldn’t tell him why everyone broke out singing until he appeased her.
“Snickers I’m so sorry. I know how much you love alcohol. I will make it up to you today by making you five whole barrels that you can have all to yourself.”
Snickers flicked her long green hair. “Do you think five measly barrels will make up for me missing out last night?”
“Of course not, I’ll make 20 barrels for my restaurant manager.” Kit watched as Snickers visibly calmed down after securing 20 barrels of rum.
“I don’t want the Musical spiced rum yet. The side effect is annoying. I’ll take 20 barrels of the Spartan Fire rum.”
“Done. Wait Musical spice rum?”
Snickers gave Kit a funny look. “Yes, the spiced rum you created last night. Wait, do you really not remember anything from last night?”
“No I told you I didn’t. So I was successful then, that’s great!”
Kit opened his menu to look at his recipes.

Hot pink potatoes! He really made the spiced rum. Kit was very happy staring at the new recipe. He even though the horrendous headache he had this morning had been worth it. Although he couldn’t sell the spiced rum yet, he could sell the Spartan Fire rum.
Kit also found out how the whole village broke out in song last night. The side effects for the spiced rum were terrible. He wouldn’t make any more of the rum until he could get rid of the compulsory singing side effects. He couldn’t do that until he reached level 60 chef.
Kit felt pumped right now, even though he embarrassed himself last night he was sure he wasn’t the only one to do so. Hopefully most people would be like himself and couldn’t even remember the night anyway.
With the addition of the Spartan Fire rum to his menu all he had to do was collect a promotion token and advance his chef tier to beginner. He would then be ready to promote the restaurant to a one star when the town upgraded to a village from a small village. He couldn’t wait to go on the monster run so they could start to expand the village once again.
Things were slowly falling into place for him. Finally, he could see his dream move into the next stage. He looked at everyone in the room with a smile. Without them he didn’t think it would be possible.
“Kit, if I were you, I wouldn’t be smiling like that right now.” Snickers smirked at him.
“Why not, I created two new drinks yesterday. It’s a good feeling.” The smile on Kit’s face grew even wider.
“Then I hope you keep that feeling when you go outside later.” It was Snickers turn to grin widely.
“What’s wrong with outside?”
“Confetti!” Snickers smile was practically beaming with her words. “Oh, and remember that none of your staff were involved, we were all working, so it’s not our responsibility.”
“What!” Was he responsible for cleaning the confetti up? He then remembered Snickers had told him that the confetti was his idea.
“It’s not that bad right?” Kit started to get a bad feeling. Snickers grin grew even wider at his question.
“Rotten avocado!” Kit turned to Mars and Peaches to see if they had any idea of what he would be walking into if he went outside. Mars looked at Kit with a shrug to say he had no clue either.
“Why don’t we just go outside Kit? Then we won’t have to guess how big the mess is. It’s probably not that bad.” Peaches pushed his chair back so he could stand as he spoke.
All three of them walked over to the front door. Kit paused before he opened the door and turned to the panther standing guard. “It won’t be bad, right?”
Kit swore he saw a smirk on the panther’s face. How is that even possible?
He pulled the door open, it was better to see what the fuss was about. Kit strode out the front door then sucked in a deep breath. “What is all this?” Kit looked at the ground covered in paper cups and white chunks of paper.
Everywhere he looked there was litter. He started to walk towards his restaurant and the litter became more condensed. “Well, it looks like we had a great time last night.” Kit looked behind him to see Mars had a huge grin on his face.
“Indeed, it does look like it. Are we really responsible for cleaning the mess though?”
Peaches and Mars looked at Kit. “I think so.” Luckily Spartan Fire wasn’t that big yet. But it still was a large area to clean. Kit groaned, this would take them a couple of days to clean.
Kit was already making plans to offer some lucky sticky candy apples to anyone who helped clean the mess. He started to head in the direction of the Spartan Fire quest board. “Where are you going Kit?”
“Mars you can’t possibly think we can clean this on our own. So I’m doing the logical thing and offering a reward to those who help.”
“Good plan!”
“What a shame Spartan Fire hasn’t attracted any Clean sprites yet or you wouldn’t even have to worry about the mess.” Kit swung his head towards Peaches.
“Peaches you are a genius!” Kit changed his direction and hurried back to the boarding house with Mars and Peaches close behind.
Why would he clean the village himself if he didn’t have too! He could just ask the Clean sprites that were moving in to do the job!
Kit burst through the front doors and pulled up the 3D boarding house. He quickly found Mud’s room and went to knock on the door. A bleary eyed Mud opened the door. “Kit what is it?”
“Mud are the Clean sprites here today?”
“I don’t know I just woke up. Let me go and check.” Mud stumbled out his door and headed over to the glass window surrounding the garden. Mud placed his hand on the glass “Open.”
Kit watched as a section of glass faded away and left an arch shape cut out in the glass. Mud walked through the arch into the garden. Kit followed him inside. Mud started humming a soft tune. Kit watched as a person the size of a butterfly flew towards Mud then stopped in front of his face.
It was a beautiful tiny young girl with delicate wings on her back. He guessed this was the clean sprite. Kit watched in fascination as the small girl hovered in the air by using her wings. The wings were bright and colourful just like a butterfly.
He was mesmerised for a moment at the magical clean sprite. Kit couldn’t help but put a silly grin on his face. He loved magic! Kit soon came back to his senses. There was a village that needed cleaning!
“Mud can you ask if they would be willing to clean the village today.”
The tiny sprite flew towards Kit’s face at an inhuman speed. He stumbled backwards to avoid a collision. When he rightened himself the Clean sprite was hovering in front of his face. She was very animated and was chattering with a speech he couldn’t understand.
“Apologies I can’t understand you.” The Clean sprite then flew back to Mud and started chattering at him.
“She said they would be very happy to clean the village today.”
“Really? Do they want to clean my restaurant as well?” Although Snicker had a cleaning spell, he was sure she would be happy if she didn’t have to clean the restaurant. Right now, he was trying to suck up to her and he was hoping this would give him some more brownie points.
Kit looked at the clean sprite to see her vibrating with happiness. The high pitched chatter flowed from the clean sprite’s tiny mouth as soon as he finished speaking.
“She said they would be more than happy to help. Umm Kit, she wants to sign a contract so this will officially be their job.”
“What sort of contract do they want to sign?”
More chatter emerged from the clean sprite. “They want an official employee contract.”
Kit was almost vibrating with happiness himself at this news. He wouldn’t have to worry about them leaving one day.
“Fantastic! What terms would they like?” Kit tried to swallow the words he had just spoken. They were magical creatures, he was sure they would be expensive. He started to sweat as he waited for the response.
