Beginning the legend of Spartan Fire restaurant
166. One star blueprint purchase.

166. One star blueprint purchase.

By the time he reached his restaurant a small following had gathered behind him. Mars, Twix, Grandpa, Snickers and Leonard were standing behind him outside his restaurant. “You know I’m just purchasing the blueprints, not actually proceeding with the upgrade?” Kit spoke to the group.

He was surprised that they all wanted to accompany him. “Kit this is still exciting! Plus, this way we will know what materials you will need for the promotion. We can get a start on collecting them first thing in the morning.” Grandpa piped in.

Even though he said that they did not need to be here, Kit was secretly happy that they came with him. He gave a grateful smile to the group. “Come Kit, hurry up, the suspense is killing me.” Snickers all but squealed.

Kit felt his own excitement bubble, he stared at his tiny building, he wondered what it would change into in the future. He didn’t delay his purchase, he opened his restaurant menu and went straight to the upgrade tab.

He slapped his head when he realised that the promotion was not available. “Grandpa I need a promotion token!” A chuckled came from Grandpa as he handed Kit a round token.

Kit started at plain metal token in his hand, he could feel the cold from the metal penetrate his palm. A frown pulled his brow when he realised this promotion token was different to the one, he used for the town hall.

This token had a single star in the middle. “Grandpa, why is this one different to the one used for the town hall?”

“Of course, they would be different, one is for promoting a whole area, the other is just for a single building.” Now that Grandpa had answered his question, he felt a little silly, it made sense that the tokens would be different.

He glanced down at the token once again and felt his pulse spike, he was about to see the available plans for his restaurant upgrade. He released an unsteady breath as he once again opened his menu.

This time the screen had changed,

Kit almost dropped the token in his elation at reading the words. He quickly wrapped his fingers around the metal in his hand.

His hands shook with the thrill of completing the requirements. Kit blew out a breath then clearly spoke, “promote Spartan Fire restaurant.”

A flash of light came from the gaps in between his fingers, Kit felt the token start to warm. Soon the token became too hot for Kit to hold, his hand automatically released the token.

Kit watched as it dropped to the floor and rolled. Once it stopped a stream of light burst forth then died out. It was not as thrilling as the town hall promotion, there was no tornado or golden rain, he felt this was due to the fact this was only a single building promotion.

The lack of fanfare didn’t stop Kit’s body reacting to the event, he felt like his heart was trying to leap out of his chest. A ringing started in his ears and his vision momentarily blurred.

Kit’s vision slowly returned to normal, and he was finally able to read the information in front of him. His eyes stopped on the hidden completed task. Holy fried fish! He received a restaurant blueprint! When he first built his restaurant only one blueprint was available, did this mean he would have two to choose from now?

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

He did not even bother reading the rest of the information, he was too excited to see what the blueprints looked like. He quickly opened the restaurant menu with a shaky finger.

Five new blueprints sat under the blueprint tab, a single star sat above the new options. Surprise flickered in his eyes, there was so many to choose from! Kit went to the first blueprint and enlarged the view. The restaurant design was not much bigger than his current restaurant size.

Kit felt himself deflate looking at the drawing, why was it so small! He pursed his lips then moved on to the next design. He felt himself perk up when he realised this one was bigger than the first one. The floor plan was at least a third bigger than his current restaurant.

He quickly opened the next blueprint, this one had increase in size again! He suddenly had the idea that the blueprints were arranged in order of size. He quickly browsed through the last two blueprints and his guess was confirmed.

When he opened the last blueprint his breath hitched, with a shaky finger he enlarged the design. A massive floor plan with five times the space of his current restaurant swam in front of his eyes. Joyous laughter bubbled out. This one must be the reward he got from the hidden task!

He had never dreamed that a restaurant this large would be available to him at a one star. His finger stuttered to a stop when he read the amount needed to purchase this option. Holy red onions! This was day light robbery! 200,000 gold crowns were needed to unlock this blueprint. That didn’t even include the materials needed to build the structure!

When he first purchased his restaurant, it had only cost him 50 silver crowns, Kit felt his chest start to heave, he was so mad at this stupid game! Was it trying to extort all of his hard earned money? If he paid the 200,000 gold crowns, he would lose most of the money he had accumulated from his restaurant sales so far!

This would only leave him with 70 gold crowns to purchase furnishings for inside his restaurant. Not only that, but he would also still need money to pay for his game subscription.

“Haha.” The laughter that sounded was almost like a cry.

“Kit what’s wrong?” Snickers worried voice entered his ears.

“There is an amazing blueprint available, but it costs 200,000 gold crowns. I can’t even see what materials are needed to build it.” He could hear the disappointment in his voice, he was sure that there would be other obstacles in the collection of materials. Something this amazing would not be something he could complete easily.

To confirm his thoughts, he opened one of the other blueprint options. He opened the middle blueprint, then ran his eyes down the information. The materials needed to build this option were clearly stated. The purchase price was also a fraction of the magical blueprint, he wanted to cry real tears when he saw the 300 gold crowns needed to purchase this option.

He then explained the difference in price to Snickers. To Kit’s surprise it was Grandpa who spoke next, “I say go for the best! Don’t forget you have us to help gather the materials needed and you can always make your money back.”

Kit blinked, hot damn! Grandpa was right. He had a whole bunch of people that would help him achieve his dream. Plus, he still had Monak’s map and he was not far off becoming level 100 swordsman so he should be able to go up the mountain and hopefully find some treasure. With a glowing smile Kit hit the purchase button for the largest blueprint.

He just hoped he didn’t regret this impulse later. He quickly read over the materials needed to complete the structure.

Magical restaurant materials:

Blueburr wood, Luminous stone, glass, floating magica crystals.

Kit read out the list to the group, he had no clue how rare any of the materials were or even if they would be expensive.

Grandpa was scratching his head when Kit closed his menu. “The glass is already in stock in the warehouse, as for the Blueburr wood and floating crystals they can be found in the devouring ranges. That only leaves the luminous stone. I will start enquiring where we can get that tomorrow.”

Kit’s lips turned upwards, he didn’t think the materials would be so easy to find.

“Honestly Kit you are lucky that you opened your restaurant in Spartan Fire or else you might have had to pay and arm and a leg to get your hands on the floating magica crystals. They are only found in areas with an abundance of spiritual beasts, lucky for you we are at the bottom of the devouring ranges and spiritual beast are like ants up there,” said Grandpa.

Twix piped in next. “Not only that, as long as you offer something good as a reward, there will be no shortage of volunteers willing to go up the mountain to collect the crystals for you!” Twix looked like he was going to be one of the volunteers he spoke about.

“I know where to mine illuminous stones!” Snickers looked proud to be able to contribute to the conversation. “I’ll send Leonard and some helpers tomorrow.”

“Snoo Snoo, why are you sending me away again!” Leonard pouted at Snickers.

“Ai, it’s not for long, be good.” Snickers patted Leonard’s hand.

Kit felt his eye twitch, he had a feeling Leonard was going to hold a grudge against him again. Kit felt the hairs on the back of his neck raise as Leonard turned a frosted glare towards him when Snickers wasn’t looking. He was right! Leonard was mad!

“Twix what should Kit offer as a reward for the floating magica crystals?” Mars broke the awkward atmosphere between Kit and Leonard. Kit wanted to hug the man.

“What Kit does best… food!” Twix simple answer made Kit happy he was worried he might have had to offer a monetary reward. Right now, he needed to keep all his money for when the restaurant building was completed to buy furnishings.

With a plan to get the materials, all he had to do was concentrate on making food he could sell while he waited for the construction of his restaurant. Kit then happily consulted Grandpa about going to low level areas to farm for ingredients.

When all his plans were in place the group split to return to their homes. Warmth filled him as he looked at the group leaving. If he didn’t have all these people, he wasn’t sure he would ever be able to get a one star restaurant. Having people to rely on was an amazing feeling.

Kit’s happy mood followed him back to the boarding house, a wail greeted him as he walked into his new room. An unhappy Snowball was sulking on the bed. Unlike Snowball Kit was ecstatic to see him, he pounced on the bed and scooped up the small bundle.

“Sssssnowball, I missed you!” Kit forcefully got the hugs he had missed from the small animal. Snowball soon stopped his pouting with Kit’s energetic greeting. “I’m sorry I took so long to come back. Next time you can come with me. I missed my Snowball time!”

Slobber coated Kit’s face by the time he put the small dog down. He went to the bathroom to have a shower before turning in for the night.

The next day he woke to streams of light filling his room. He rolled in the soft bed not wanting to get up, his bed was the most luxurious thing he had ever slept in. Once he was done being lazy, he brushed his teeth then went down to the dining room.

Some of the new employees he met yesterday were sitting at a table with Cadbury, Dove and Milka. Kit sat down and grabbed a piece of toast from the pile on the table. “Morning everyone,” Kit greeted.

Welcoming smiles and pleasantries rang around the table. A tap to his shoulder pulled Kit’s attention to Dove who was sitting next to him. “Kit, when you’ve finished breakfast can we have a word?”

Kit became curious about what Dove wanted so he nodded his head. Soon he finished breakfast then followed Dove into one of the lounge rooms, Cadbury and Milka came in behind him.
