Kit stirred the soup with a complicated expression. His mind had wandered to thoughts about the upcoming grand opening. He hoped he had enough of a selection to please the people who travelled to see his restaurant. He didn’t want them to travel all this way only to be disappointed.
His mind kept going over the information Snickers had told him. It looked like Grandpa was pinning high hopes on his opening being a success. Kit didn’t want to disappoint the old man or himself. His anxiety was creeping up on him more and more the longer he thought about it.
Kit looked into the pot and was jolted back to the present. The soup was almost ready. It had a thick consistency and was a deep red colour. A herbal smell filled Kit’s nose. He was surprised as he hadn’t added many herbs to the soup. Kit could see a small swirl of blue starting to form inside the soup.
He wasn’t prepared! Kit quickly ran over to get the glass jar filled with blood root powder. Kit felt a spike in his adrenalin. In his haste to take the lid off the jar, he fumbled with the lid causing more of a delay. Kit’s anxiety grew. If he didn’t get the blood root inside the pot in time, he wouldn’t get the added time the powder gave.
Finally, the lid came off and Kit was able to sprinkle the powder inside. When he looked, the blue sheen was coming to a peak. He had just made it. Kit felt his heart pumping furiously from the anxiety he had just experienced. He watched the blue sheen pulse with twinkling eyes.

Kit let out a relived breath. He felt his whole body slump when the tension left. Happiness started to build up at the sight of the soup. Kit wanted to pump his fist, he was that proud. Kit looked around and saw no one was insight. He gave in to the childish impulse let out a whoop and shot his fist into the air.
Giggles left his mouth from his actions. Kit took the soup off the fire roaster. He then collected a ladle and went back over to the soup with a spring in his step. He placed a bowl on top of the magic multiplier plate and filled it with a small portion of the soup. It was an entrée after all, not a main meal.
Kit watched as the number 21 appeared above the bowl. The grin couldn’t be wiped off his face. Kit took a bowl for himself to try, then took the rest over to the time freeze storage shelf. As he emptied the pot into more bowls the slot in the time freeze storage shelf soon became full. This was fantastic one pot of soup filled a hole slot! Kit eyed the last slot, only one more to go!
As he waited for his bowl to cool down, Kit cleaned the kitchen. The kitchen soon sparkled and a fresh clean smell mixed with the smell of the soup. Now that he was finished cleaning he went over to the waiting bowl of soup. He had mixed feelings about tasting the soup. He wasn’t sure what to expect from the flavour. He picked up a spoon.
“Guess I can only taste it to find out.”
Kit dipped the spoon into the thick soup then brought it to his mouth. A thick chunk of turtle meat entered his mouth along with the fluid. The initial taste of the soup was quite snappy with the peppery taste from the moss.
Then he bit into the turtle meat. He thought it would be tough, but the meat melted in his mouth. Kit was surprised by the flavour. He was finding it difficult to describe, it was like a mix of all different meat. He wondered if turtle meat tasted the same in real life. The taste of the liquid and the meat combined left a delicious biting flavour in his mouth.
Kit was very pleased with the soup. It would be a great starter dish. Although it was thick, he had made the portion small so that it wouldn’t fill the stomach too much. This way there would be room left for more food.
With the success of two stats meals Kit felt like he was lucky today. He decided to have another try with the apple pie. If he could fill all the slots in the time freeze storage shelf then he would have a free day tomorrow to spend with Mars and Twix.
He looked forward to working on improving Spartan Fire for the day instead of being in his restaurant. He also had a feeling if he stayed inside his restaurant tomorrow, he would feel the pressure more from the upcoming grand opening. With his plans in place Kit got to work on the pie.
The kitchen was soon in a mess once again. Kit had the apple pies in the fire waiting for them to finish baking and had started to clean up after himself once again. He was nervously bouncing around the kitchen waiting to see the outcome of the pies.
The smell was making him hungry even though his stomach felt full. The kitchen was sparkling when the pies were ready. He took out a pair of oven mitts and freed the clay pots from the fire. He took a deep breath to smell the fragrant pie with trembling fingers. He wondered if he finally had a successful experiment.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Kit watched the steam rise with a hopeful gaze. A mouth-watering apple pie smell filled the air in the kitchen.

Kit was stunned. He stood there like a gaping fish staring at the information in front of him. Slowly it dawned on him what he was looking at. His mouth split into a wide grin and laughter bubble up.
“Red roasted nuts! This is fantastic!”
Kit eyes were glued to the + 100 Luck. He had never seen that in his attributes tab before. He quickly pulled it up to see if he had just not been paying attention.

There was nothing there about Luck. Did he find something hidden? Kit felt a burst of happiness. He could feel his blood pumping through his veins. He thought he was going to explode with joy. He could already tell this would become a best seller.
“Fuck this is amazing!”
Kit couldn’t contain himself. But why did he have to wait until he was level 100 chef. He felt a renewed fire spread through his body. If he could get to chef level 100 he would start to rake in the money.
Now he had two levels to raise to 100 as fast as he could. One for the map the other to make profit at his restaurant. The burning desire to succeed couldn’t be tamed. He could feel if he just worked hard then things would fall into place. His time in CAL wouldn’t end after the three month subscription was up.
He now felt more than ever that he could do this. Kit calmed himself down a little then cut the pie and transferred it into his pouch. It couldn’t go into the time freeze storage shelf. He would need to make something else to fill the last spot.
Kit would leave the last spot for now. He was too excited and wanted to share the good news with his friends. Kit left the kitchen to find the others. Kit didn’t have to go far. He heard noises coming from inside the town hall.
Kit walked the small distance and the noise became clear chatter as he approached.
“It looks better over there. Mars place it there.”
Twix voice rang out through the door. Kit walked inside the building and was surprised. The previous empty building was completely transformed. Kit’s eyes darted around the room. In front of him was a long elegant, wooden bench. Lining the walls were beautifully carved wooden chairs. Kit walked closer to the nearest chair.
Up close he could see the detail etched into the wood. Vines twisted around the frame with flowers sprouting at intervals along the stems. Where had they gotten this type for chair from? Kit continued to glance around the room.
Four doors could be seen that led into each of the circle rooms attached to the building. The doors were made from a dark solid wood. Kit thought it didn’t look cheap. Kit gazed at the people inside the room. They had done all this by themselves?
As Kit was looking around in disbelief Mars and Twix finally noticed him. They had just finished arranging chairs.
“Kit what do you think. Looks good right?” Mars had a big grin on his face as he spoke.
“It looks amazing. How did you get fixtures like this? I didn’t think we would be able to get furnishings like this for a long time.”
“Well that’s all thanks to Leonard. He is a master builder. So, he can make even the cheapest of furnishings look good. The wood of the furnishings is actually poor quality. It’s just that Leonard carved the chairs and table legs then we applied a special lacquer to change the colour of the wood. Pretty sweet right.”
“Sweet is not the right word, it’s more like impressive. Is this how you raised the prestige points?”
“Some of it is from this. We can show you how we did the rest if you have time.”
Kit could see Mars and Twix were proud of all that they had done. They had both unconsciously puffed out their chest as Mars spoke. As Kit looked around, he thought Mars and Twix really had a right to be proud. The town hall looked amazing.
“That would be fantastic. Mars, I can’t wait to see what you guys have done.”
“Come and look inside one of the rooms first.” Twix walked over to the door closest to him and swung the door open.
Kit walked into the room. The first thing he noticed was a huge glass window that curved with the room. The view outside was beautiful.
“How is a window like that even possible.”
“We told you Leonard is amazing. What other mud building have you seen that looks so good? Just wait until we upgrade the structure. Leonard said he will make the buildings in Spartan Fire all master pieces. He is going to use the whole town as his creation.”
Kit had to re-evaluate his impression of the baby man mountain. If he could make poor quality items look dignified what could he do with higher level furnishings? Kit was now very happy Snickers had come with a bonus Leonard.
“We are going to have the most amazing place in the whole of CAL Kit.” Mars had a maniacal gleam in his eyes.
Kit chuckled, if Mars had that look in his eyes, then Kit had no worries about the town growth. Kit had seen Mars’ one track mind multiple times when that glint appeared. Kit started to feel sorry for Twix and Leonard. They had no clue what they were in for. He had a feeling Mars was going to be a slave driver.
“I agree Mars. I haven’t even seen all you have worked on yet and I am impressed.”
Kit continued to look around the room. A single elegantly carved desk and chair stood in the centre of the room. Against the wall stood an empty bookshelf. Kit thought if he had to have an office, this was the one he would want.
“All the circle rooms look like this one. This building is finished for now, we are going to finish the market next. Come outside and Twix and I will show you the rest.”
The party turned to head outside. Kit couldn’t wait to see the rest of the work they had done.
