When he woke on the seventh day of being in Fairweather town, Kit was ready to head back to his restaurant. It was time for him to start focusing on creating meals again and planning for his restaurant promotion.
He left his room to head to the lounge area to inform the others that he would be heading home today. Kit was the first one to enter the lounge area, toast was already sitting on the coffee table ready to eat.
As he was adding butter to a piece of toast Mars walked into the lounge. “Morning Kit, what are the plans for today?” Mars snatched his own piece of toast as he sat down.
“I feel like its time to head back today. The market stall is running fine, and I’m no longer needed there. Do we need to get any supply’s before we leave?” Mars had taken care of the provisions before they left for Fairweather town, so Kit wasn’t sure if they had everything they needed for the return trip.
Mars started to tap his chin in thought, Kit waited patiently for him to reply. “We can leave straight away, there is nothing that I need to get but Kit it is almost time for us to log out, I don’t think we should leave until we log back into the game.”
Kit had forgotten he would need to log out soon. He started to count the days he had been in game and was surprised when he realised Mars was right. They only had two days before they had to enter the real world.
A frustrated breath escaped Kit’s lips, he didn’t want to delay his return. He also didn’t want to jeopardise the safety of the people he would be taking back to Spartan Fire. If the group had to stop in the middle of nowhere to wait for Mars and Kit to return that would put them in danger.
“I agree Mars, we will have to wait now that Kettle, Milka and Finn are returning with us. I’m just annoyed it will delay our return.” Kit slumped back on the couch, disappointment clear on his face.
“Kit don’t be like that. It’s not like staying here will stop you from progressing with the restaurant promotion. Can’t you just use your camping kitchen to experiment with recipes while we wait.”
Kit sat up straight at Mars words. That’s right! He could still create stats dishes, had he not done that on the journey to Spartan Fire! “Mars you are the best! Thanks for reminding me. I will go and see Venie to see if she will let me use the outside area again.” Kit shot up off the couch and headed towards the door.
“While you’re doing that I will go and find Kettle to let him know that he will need to step up the training of his replacement.” Mars looked very pleased at taking Kettle back with them. Kit knew that Mars hated doing any work in the town hall.
When they got back to Spartan Fire, Mars, Twix and himself were going to have to sit down and have a proper talk about what their involvement with running the village would look like.
Now they didn’t need to do much because Spartan Fire was small, but as it grew, they would need to be more involved or hand over responsibilities to others. Kit planned on doing things properly so that he could achieve the gaols he had set for himself. That meant there would be no half-ass running the village like they had been.
Kit left Mars to inform the others that he wouldn’t be going to the market stall today and he made his way downstairs to find Venie. The older lady was more than happy to let Kit use the outdoor area once again, all he had to do was give her a few candy apples in return.
Once the camping kitchen was assembled, Kit opened his inventory to look over his ingredients. Countless recipes started to swirl in his head as his eyes raked over the available options. His eyes finally settled on the chicken, Kit couldn’t help rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
Originally, he had planned to experiment on the journey to Fairweather town, so he had already collected the necessary ingredients for the chicken gnocchi recipe. Kit started arranging the ingredients on his work bench.
He planned to make a creamy sundried tomato chicken gnocchi. This would let him utilise five ingredients he had collected in the twisted tunnels and Piabbits domain. The gnocchi would use the Sturdy glowing blue potato of ice and the eggs.
In the rest of the meal, he could use the chicken, Blood shadow tomato and Gloomy black Spinach. He had been pleasantly surprised when he entered the spinach into the Book of plant information, it had the same properties as the Blood shadow tomato, each ingredient would give 500 health when consumed raw.

He had a feeling those two ingredients would combine well. He also felt the egg and chicken would work together, that left the potato as the unknown factor in making this recipe into a stats meal. The potato also had a completely different stat bonus attached to it compared to the other ingredients, the potato gave 500 ice resistance for 24hours when eaten raw.
This didn’t deter Kit from starting to make the gnocchi in high spirits. If he didn’t try combining ingredients he would never know if they would turn into something great.
Kit got to work on preparing the sundried tomatoes, he chopped them into halves then placed them on a tray and finished them off with a sprinkling of salt. Next, he placed them in the oven with the door propped open, this would allow the excess moisture to escape.
A happy hum flowed from Kit’s mouth as he worked, he really enjoyed making new recipes. Once all the tomatoes were in the oven, Kit moved onto preparing the potatoes to boil.
Once that was done, he pulled out a fry pan and poured some olive oil in before frying the chicken. He then started the sauce while the chicken was cooking. Kit took the tomatoes out of the oven, he loved how fast the oven worked, what should take him hours, took no time at all.
He then sautéed some garlic with the sundried tomatoes, once that was finished, he added some chicken broth along with some heavy cream. He then added the chicken to the mix, he turned the stove top to simmer then got to work on making the gnocchi.
Kit drained the water for the potatoes then started to mash them into a smooth consistency. A nice surprise rang as he was working.

Yes! He unlocked another skill! His already happy mood went up a notch. Kit happily went back to making the gnocchi. He looked at he mash in front of him and was happy with the texture, so he added the flour and eggs to the mix.
He then proceeded to knead the mixture, then he turned it into thick long snakes. With his kitchen knife he cut the strips into bite sized pieces. When they were all cut, he threw them into the creamy sauce to cook.
Gnocchi didn’t take long to cook, so he watched the sauce like a hawk. When the gnocchi looked done Kit sprinkled a handful of the spinach into the sauce. Blue swirls started to form through the sauce. Kit’s mood skyrocketed at the sight.
He quickly scooped up a portion of the gnocchi with a large spoon and placed it in a bowl. Two colours started to appear amongst the sauce, blue and purple. Kit felt his heart stutter, the last time this happened he made a temporary skills creation.
Kit held his breath as the colours intensified. His brows pulled together when no notification sounded, and the colours started to disperse. It looked like this attempt wasn’t successful. Kit’s mood didn’t sour, the meal must have a good foundation to turn into a stats meal.
He would just have to find out the right ratios or ingredients that were missing to turn it into a successful creation. Kit spent the rest of the day trying to come up with the right combination. When the sun was starting to set Kit packed up for the day.
A small sigh came from Kit, he hadn’t been successful with the gnocchi today, but on the positive side he had gotten the colour to intensify. He didn’t think he was far off creating another successful meal. Hopefully tomorrow would see him add another creation to his list.
Kit headed into the lounge area to see Mars and Milka sitting at the table. Mars eyes shot towards Kit as he sat down on a chair. “Quick let me taste it!” Mars looked eager to taste something new.
Two bowls appeared in Kit’s hand, he slid them over to the waiting pair. “It’s not a stats meal yet, but it tastes pretty good.” Kit watched Mars and Milka’s reaction to the new recipe. Pleasant hums of delight soon emerged from the pair, this made Kit feel happy that they were enjoying the food.
Mars soon devoured the contents of his bowl and asked for another portion, Kit happily complied with his request. “Kit now that the market stall is up and running, how long will it be before we leave for Spartan Fire?” Milka inquired.
With Milka’s question Kit realised that she didn’t know that Mars and he would have to leave for a short while. He quickly explained that they were part of the CAL blessed and would need to be away for six days.
“Oh ok.” Milka eyes lids fluttered downwards covering her eyes.
Kit brows wrinkled at her response. “Is everything alright Milka?”
“Um Kit, do you think I could have an advance on my pay.” Her lashes slowly lifted, but her eyes stared at his chin instead of making direct eye contact.
Kit’s brows pulled even tighter. Was she still in trouble? Or did she owe money? “Sure Milka, can you tell me what its for? It’s ok if you can’t.”
A blush dusted her cheeks, “I will need some money to pay for accommodation for the next week. I used to live at the back of the Fancy plate.”
Kit made an oh shape with his mouth. He hadn’t even thought about Milka’s living situation. “You don’t need to worry about that Milka. I have already paid for our rooms in advance. You can just stay here for the next week.”
That was a big fat lie, he hadn’t paid for the rooms for the extra week, but he had a feeling that if he told Milka he would pay for it she would refuse. It was harder to refuse something that was already done, Kit made plans to stop past Venie and pay the extra money on his way outside tomorrow.
Just as he expected Milka accepted the arrangements. “Thank you, Kit.”
“Milka we are family now, so no thankyou needed.” With everything settled for his departure Kit felt relived. With nothing urgent to discuss with the pair Kit decided to call it a night. He had plans to crack the gnocchi recipe tomorrow. He wanted to get up early, to not waste any daylight.
