193. Kit, how can you complain when the most exciting part is yet to come!

A vast, gaping cavern lay before him, but it was no ordinary cave. It was alive with movement and danger. Massive humanoid creatures roamed aimlessly among the rocky walls, their grey leather skin crackling with each step they took. Long, sharp claws hung at their sides, ready to strike at any moment.

As Kit took in the terrifying scene, he estimated that there were over 50 of these monstrous beings lurking within the darkness. Each one seemed to possess a primal strength and ferocity that sent a shiver down his spine.

An overwhelming sense of dread consumed him as he realised the gravity of their situation. How were they supposed to get past those creatures without being killed?

But while Kit was spiralling into despair, Mars was ecstatic. "Kit, look at all those monsters! This is going to be amazing!" "You read my mind, Mars! We'll make this fun." Cadbury chimed in, preparing his shield and sword. "I'll take the hits, Mars and Leonard will assist me. Kit, you're with us too. The rest of you will provide ranged support." He then turned to Dove with a grin. "Ready for this, bro?"

Dove mirrored his brothers' grins and launched an arrow towards the closest monster. The sound of a fierce roar echoed as the arrow found its mark and the monster charged towards them with frightening speed.

Cadbury laughed and met the monster head on, skilfully dodging its attacks. Kit stood frozen in shock, unable to process what was happening. He watched in awe as Cadbury expertly controlled the monster's movements, while Dove unleashed a barrage of arrows and spells with remarkable speed. It was like watching a professional team of fighters in action, if only they had a healer.

Kit's shock turned to fear when he realised that they hadn't even checked the monster's stats before engaging in battle - his friends were insane!

Taking a deep breath, Kit decided to join in the fight; he couldn't just stand there doing nothing. He didn't want to know what level this monster was; it was probably better for him not to know anyway.

With a swift movement, Kit unsheathed his sword and joined in the battle. He felt a surge of exhilaration as he successfully inflicted damage on the monstrous creature. However, after just five minutes, Kit was faced with a major setback; a sharp claw caught his side and sent him flying, depleting two thirds of his health.

Desperate to replenish himself, Kit reached into his pouch for a health potion, only to realise he had already used them all. He would have to sit out the rest of the fight until he could ask his companions if they had any spare potions.

As he struggled to stand up, a comforting warmth enveloped him, rejuvenating his depleted energy. Before he could even process what was happening, a notification appeared on his screen.

[Cupcake has used Advanced Revitalising Aura on you]

Kit’s mind ground to a halt. Holy mustard!

Kit had made an incorrect assumption about Cupcake's fighting style. He expected the large man to use a melee weapon, but was surprised when he saw that Cupcake was actually a healer. Kit was elated at this discovery, and couldn't help but exclaim his excitement.

"Wow, I didn't expect you to be a healer, Cupcake!" Kit exclaimed, still in the heat of battle.

“Cupcake sorry! Distracted!” the large man apologised.

"Don't worry about it, Cupcake. Your distraction actually helped us," Kit reassured him, realising that Cupcake was apologising for missing a healing opportunity. In a fight like this, timing was crucial and any delay could be fatal. But Kit didn't mind; he was just happy to have a healer on their team.

"Great job, Cupcake! Keep it up!" Kit shouted encouragingly before returning to face the looming monster ahead.

It took five minutes for the beast to be vanquished. Kit thought they would take a break and rest, but he was mistaken. Dove swiftly shot another arrow, and the party resumed their attack.

Five hours later, the final monster fell, leaving Kit exhausted and his arm feeling like it might fall off. "You guys are insane! Who fights for five hours straight?" Kit complained.

Luckily, Peaches was there to lend a hand. As a Necromancer, he had the ability to raise the dead, which proved to be incredibly useful against the large numbers of monsters they faced.

"Kit, how can you complain when the most exciting part is yet to come!" Mars exclaimed with joy. Before Kit could ask what he meant, the ground began to shake. He turned to see a chest rising from the ground in front of them.

That’s right they were in a dungeon! Kit's frustration with the group's lack of rest melted away as the chest finally emerged from beneath the surface.

He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw it fully revealed - a chest made entirely of gold. This wasn’t like the one he had seen before, in his and Mars victory over Swift Feet.

Kit could hardly contain his excitement to see what treasures were inside. Cadbury approached the chest and opened the lid, revealing a blinding light that gradually faded away.

With a smile, Cadbury reached into the chest and pulled out the contents, whistling in amazement. He didn't leave them in suspense for long as he shared all the details of what he found.

Kit's face contorted in amazement as he took in the extravagant loot before him. He could feel his entire body trembling with excitement - this chest was beyond anything he had ever dreamed of finding.

Not only did they uncover a hidden blueprint, but the wrist guards and chest plate were also incredible. And to top it all off, there were countless crystals and precious stones!

"Damn, this dungeon is insane! Kit what path do we take next!" Mars exclaimed, dashing over to Kit with a wide grin on his face.

Confused by Mars' words, Kit blinked for a moment before the handsome man laughed and pointed towards the wall at the end of the room.

Three corridors stretched out in different directions. It took Kit a moment to catch on to what Mars was asking as he quickly pulled out the map from his pouch.

The bird marker had shifted from the terrain map to the rooms on the opposite side. They were currently on the first floor out of three, and Kit examined all the available rooms on that level. One room was designated as a safe zone. "Do you think that's the room we need to go to for the next floor?" Kit asked Mars.

Mars nodded in agreement. "It's the only one that stands out from the rest."

Kit couldn't contain his excitement at this discovery. The safe room was only three doors down from their current location. "Then we should take the door on the right."

But just as they were about to leave, Kit suddenly stopped everyone in their tracks.

"Wait!" He felt his cheeks heat up as he faced their expectant expressions. "I seem to have run out of healing potions. Does anyone have any extras I could use?" It was always wise to have some potions on hand in case of emergencies or separation from the group.

With a chuckle, Grandpa handed Kit another stack of potions. "Don't worry, Kit, I brought extra’s just in case." Kit expressed his gratitude, before the group left Cadbury spoke.

"Can we decide who will get the new equipment before we enter the next room?" he asked. "This chest plate will increase someone's defence and the wrist guards will improve their luck for better drops from monsters."

Kit was surprised by this information. "What drops from the monsters?" He hadn't noticed anything left behind after defeating them, but then again, he’d been too focused on the battle.

Cadbury chuckled and shared his knowledge once again. "I picked these up as soon as they fell from the Grim Chartonts."

[Blood soul crystal] x 138

Kit's eyebrows shot up in surprise as he greedily gazed at the valuable stones. He knew they could only defeat one high-level monster at a time, so these stones must be worth a fortune if sold.

"Cadbury, you take the chest plate since you're the tank. And Kit, you need new wrist guards to replace the damaged one. We can't risk anyone seeing your wrist tattoo," Grandpa declared, making the decision for the team.

The rest of the group smiled at the thought of more loot to come. Cadbury handed Kit the wrist guards and he quickly put them on before they headed towards the right corridor.

Kit groaned as they entered the next cavern and saw the same monsters from the previous room, except this time there were twice as many. "This will take us at least ten hours to defeat. Should we take a break?" Kit suggested, realising that none of them had slept yet and it was already late into the night outside of the dungeon.

"Resting in the dungeon is not safe, Kit. We'll have to rely on items to replenish our stamina and keep going," Cadbury reminded them.

Kit felt a headache coming on; this was going to be a difficult task. However, their fighting skills improved and they were able to defeat each beast quicker than before, but it still took them eight hours to clear the room. Thankfully, another chest appeared and rejuvenated the group.

Instead of Cadbury opening the chest this time, everyone turned to look at Kit. "What's wrong?" Kit asked confusedly.

Mars gestured towards the chest. "You have the luck enhancing item, go ahead and unlock it!"

Kit felt a rush of excitement as he approached the chest. His heart pounding, he carefully clicked open the lock.

A blinding light momentarily stunned him, but once his vision cleared, he eagerly gathered the contents of the chest.

He began to examine the new items in his pouch with great interest.

Kit's heart raced with excitement at the sight of the skill books. As a swordsman, he struggled to learn new skills from scratch, but if he could master these, it would be a huge advantage. He took a deep breath and calmed himself; he had already received the wrist guards, it was someone else's turn to get the loot.

Grandpa had done a fair job of distributing the previous loot, so Kit handed everything over to him except for the stones. They had agreed that Kit should keep them in his special pouch that prevented items from dropping upon death.

"Alright then, Cupcake, this staff is perfect for you." Grandpa smiled and handed Cupcake his new weapon. Mars couldn't contain his excitement as Grandpa gave him the sword. To everyone's surprise, Twix was given the double casting book while Kit received the last one.

A surge of joy filled Kit's chest as he read the notification. He couldn't wait to find more of these valuable items inside the dungeon.

"Grandpa, do you think we'll find more skill books in the chests?" he asked eagerly.

Laughter echoed through the empty cavern as his grandfather replied, "I certainly hope so, my boy. Even I wouldn't mind getting one." His eyes crinkled with amusement. "But we won't know unless we keep going!"

Kit nodded in agreement and checked the map to see four paths leading out of the cavern. They decided to take the second path on the left this time. The group moved quickly through the tunnel and emerged into another large chamber, only this time there was only one monster lurking inside.
