Chapter 5 : Yuri-chan tried to clean up everyone's mess. And doesn't necessarily fail ?

Several hours later, Agito, the madman and I are the only ones in the classroom. The P.E. Teacher looks at us sternly.

"You two are to apologize to your classmates and your teachers for sending them all at the hospi.."

"What of Tasuku?"

The professor glared at me for interrupting him, but answered nonetheless.

"Concussion, three ribs, an arm and a leg broken, his right hand's bones were pulverized."

"Tch" Only that much? I knew I should have done more.

"As I said , you should go and apologize."

I look at him blankly.

"I'm sorry, My religion forbids it."

"Your... Religion?"

"Yes, I worship Freyja-sama, the goddess of war."

"Somebody called meeeee ?"

The blonde goddess appeared in a shower of silver sparkles, looking around curiously, floating around slowly and waving her hand at us, before getting a mischievous expression looking at the teacher.

Said teacher pinched the bridge of his nose.

"...And ?"

"And I know Freyja-sama would disapprove of me apologizing to that no good womanizer."

"Damn right I would!"

The blonde goddess pouted, hands on her hips and glaring at the teacher, her finger moving threateningly.

"Ahem, is there something going on here ? Agito-san? Hephaestus-sama? You're looking at the same direction again."

Hum, the madman is sharp. Meanwhile Freyja was doing her things.

"Meeee, I guess I should... AH, I know!"

Freyja floated through the room, put her head through the wall, and a short time later, Saeko-sensei barged into the classroom, caught P.E.-sensei's head and kissed him, making him bend back.

"You're going to be a daddy!"

The man paled suddenly and dismissed the three of us. Freyja pouted at us while accompanying us in the hallways.

"Mou, I'll have to go, try not to get in too much trouble while I'm away..."

And she disappeared , just like that.

I wonder what she's up to, besides keeping the zombies and aliens at bay...

Phew, that's heavy. I look proudly at my house. Architect has been a great help. Well, right now, it's a snowgrass field with a small building.... And I should explain from the beginning, right ?

Well, funnily enough, that's the robot attack that happened at the same time that I was captured by the government guys that showed me something was off. Looking around, I found a signal, and went underground. Then, when I reached Earth's core, I found something very weird, some sort of globe that was emitting unknown pulses that attracted the robot guys.

I didn't think of it too much until I connected and tested each of my aspects.

When I arrived to Life and Death, I discovered the globe's pulses were following the death/birth rhythm. So I sat down on the lab holding my body and started to think. Why are there gods in the first place, and what are they. After a bit of thinking more, and conversing with my other selves, we kinda got it that they were, in fact, servants, secretaries and guardians of that globe.

I tentatively named it the [Forge of souls] Because it was obvious something was up with it. But as I am a lowly divine spirit , I can't really know more about it. I also discovered an uncomfortable fact : Magic was disappearing from this world, this was a slow process, but a steady one. I have a hypothesis about that, actually.

Because nobody takes care of the souls of the dead, they end up sent back to the [Forge of souls], destroyed into tiny bits and reformed into someone else's soul. The process takes up energy, and the more souls processed, the more energy consumed. Since the number of humans keep increasing, something has to make up for the lack of 'soul particles', which happens to be magical energy.

And so the cycle begins : more humans, less magic available, less powerful humans. Analyst estimates that in two centuries, magic will have totally disappeared, and because of that, soulless babies will be released into the world. And not the kind of comatose soulless. The kind that will try and reduce drastically the number of humans around, like an auto purge system.

So here I was, with the immediate zombie invasion, the not so immediate robot problem, and the later homicidal babies.

Which left me with one solution, that I really didn't like.

There is a blackout, and when light comes again, surely enough, there are two suns, or is it only one sun cut in half? On the horizon. A giant full moon and glittering stars are above my head, and the sky varies from dark blue, to pinkish red, to golden. Prettyyyy... I float around and see around. It's a bare island floating in the void I see underneath.

Uwaaa, i feel lightheaded by looking at it, back to the island.

Since it's supposed to be my house, I look at the options there... I can do pretty much anything, but let's start modestly, I only have 200 AP after all. I notice something interesting, in that some plant generate AP, namely Grass and fruit trees, so I customize them, using my memories of the ice plum trees ( glass trunks, crystal leaves and transparent, amethyst fruits, for those of you that don't remember) and the snowgrass (semi transparent frozen mint) that were there. Since they're transparent, the light plays with them and there are pastel rainbows everywhere. Wow, It feels girly. Well, I'm a girl, so it's okay ?

Now I had somewhere to put my plan to execution.

You see, breaking down a soul and remaking it costs a lot of magic, it would be much easier to take the souls of the departed, draining it squeaky clean, and sending it back to another body baby. Would cost less magic and be more stable. So I did go back to the orb and saw if there was a particular design to that effect. In the end, I chose two doors, one in , and one out. But people are stupid, and some would try to jump in the void, so I would have to make a building to that effect. And there we are back now.

I spent 180 AP on giant slabs of transparent unbreakable stone, effectively closing off the 'door area'. Like that, they couldn't wander around and could look a bit at the scenery before reincarnation! You can't go back from where you came, so, that part I can't mess up.

Well then, those plums look awfully delicious...
