Arc 4 Chapter 3 : A bad day.

Arc 4 Chapter 3 : A bad day.

Chapter 3 : Please teach us, Yuri-sensei!

I didn't get to escape, sadly, for what was behind them was a dead end, and they looked super pissed at me for accidentally breaking that big guy's neck. Bluish white skins with apparent dark veins, black sclera, fluorescent, slitted irises and dark hair. They looked really, really creepy.

Well, if you guys insist so much, thanks for the meal. Fencer-San, it's your time to shine.

Why her? I never get to play !

Now now Lancer-Chan, you know using a spear wouldn't work here.

It totally could.

Really ?

... I could make it work.

Rrreeeeeeeallyy?

... Probably.

...

Okay, okay, I admit, now's not the best time, but seriously, she's going all honorable-y and not even playing with them, only vital spots, what's the fun in that ?! Oh, that must have hurt.

Indeed, Fencer-San had just ducked under a battleaxe swipe and thrust her sword through the demon's head by his eye.

How come she gets to do the thrusting huh ?!

Because We want to limit the homoerotic symbolism here.

But that would not... Oh.

Oh indeed. How are you holding up, Fencer-San?

There is a mage among them, I'll need Necromancer-San to disable his defenses, it's hard to land a killing blow if I can't pierce their skin.

NecroLily ?

Eeeeeh, Lily is sorry, but Lily can't hold on the camouflage and use a non death spell at the same time...

Umu, troublesome indeed. I guess I'll have to use light magic then ?

Lily thinks so.

I come back to the forefront of my mind. There are currently five demons alive, and three dead ones, including the one I landed on, who seemed to be their leader. Good, the last thing we want would be for them to use tactics. A qualified support mage was annoying enough. We maneuvered ourselves so that we wouldn't get surrounded, while trying to get a shot at their support. Tough luck though, for he seemed well aware that I was aiming to take him down first and so always stayed behind one of their warriors.

*Clang*

The blow I parried almost numbed my arm. My sword was in a bad shape already, but with that, there is a visible dent in it, it's only a matter of time before it breaks, and everyone noticed. The demon smiled savagely at me while I stepped back to avoid a lunge from one of his comrades.

This is bad. While my strength and speed are above normal humans, on the pure strength aspect, an average demon would beat me easily, even more when supported by an earth oriented mage.

I hate earth spirits, they're all jerks.

Point is, I can't damage their skins, their support can't be hit, and sooner or later, I'll run out of stamina. Gotta wrap this quickly. My magic is pretty low, I'll have to replenish it very soon. Fencer-San, we'll only get one shot at this, so make it count.

Understood.

We let go of our damaged sword and took their dead commander's. They looked clearly surprised we even managed to raise it with one hand, considering it's a claymore. They looked downright alarmed when the blade became white and started glowing softly and they charged.

Yep, ladies and gentlemen, glowing swords, hurray. Well, technically speaking, it's a bit of light based illusion magic that changes everyone's perception in a small area, so I'll appear a foot or two away from I really am.

Lancer, swap with Marty.

Yeah, yeah, got it...

For the last time, do not call me Marty ! Even Mars would be better!

Hush, now ready ?

Yes

Hai

I sidestepped easily the fighters and rushed towards the mage. As I ran him through with my blade, he nicked my arm with a dagger.

It hurts you*censored* !

I took his weapon , hastily cleaned it of blood against my pants and stabbed one of the now unprotected warriors in the nape of his neck.

Lesson number one in a fantasy world: any drop of blood spilled means one way to magically enslave you or worse.

Never happened to me, but you're never cautious enough.

The illusion faded. Three demons remaining. Those odds were much better.

One of them advanced, battleaxe raised, and I tried to hit under his guard, only for him to block the blade between his side and his arm so that it would be immobilized.

Damn it, this is why I hate two handed weapons!

His comrade to the left ran towards me and I left Mars do her job.

I was finishing off the last demon, the one that stuck my borrowed claymore to him when I heard rushed footsteps, and before long people were here. I can see the guy with a sword, with a boy and a girl looking at me in wonder, while Sean immediately barked orders to clean up the place. Since nobody spoke to me, I took off my chainmail, grimacing, and looked at the damage.

Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.

Damn, that dagger is sharp, I can see the bone.

With my good arm, I put my hand in the pouch on my back and get bandages. I need to stop the blood flow and to hide my regeneration, that would cause uncomfortable questions to be asked. I bandage it slowly, but soon enough the wound is properly covered.

Infection? Poison? Psh, as if that could affect me, thanks for the demon guys I've got enough life energy stockpiled that I can neutralize that almost immediately. I put back my chainmail and put the dagger at my belt, before going to my sword and looking at it mournfully.

I liked that one ...

I turn towards the Bear-looking man and show him the blade.

"You owe me a new sword."

The greying man blinked owlishly, before he laughed, loudly.

"Aye, that I do. C'mon, I'll introduce you around."

He put a hand, or should I call it a paw, to keep up with the bear imagery ? Well, anyways he patted my head. I let him because I don't really care and kept Fencer-San's usually stoic expression. He then lead me towards where people were.

"Introductions! You already know me, I'm the captain of the guard. The egg head there is the mayor, Oisín Ó Branagáin. The girl behind him is his daughter, Aife." He signaled to the teenaged, black haired, blue eyed girl, then to a brown haired, blue eyed young man. " That's her brother Brian, and the other guy here is Cormac. Hey guys, the girly looking dude here is Alainn Ua Rothar. Well, he is for now, but he's an amnesiac, and apparently a demon killer!"

While he was speaking out more to the noble old man, I was trying not to sweat. The girl was all starry eyed at me and her brother blushed. Hey, third guy! Yes, you, generic black haired, black eyed, teenaged, average looking guy! Go do your job and get the girl already! Wh-What ?! Not you too! Go look away or something. Please, please let me misunderstand that!

Well, you've done goofed.

Shut up Lancer-chan.

After a while, it was agreed that I would be allowed an unlimited pass to the city, and a free, brand new, quality steel sword for my troubles. That was pretty neat, free stuff is always good.

Then, when I was about to go back to my forest...

"Please wait!"

I hate my life.

I turn back and see the teenagers, all looking barely older than me, struggling to catch back to me, so I stopped the horse. The leader of their group, the black haired guy, stopped for a moment to catch his breath, before bowing to me.

"Please, make us your apprentices, wandering knight-sama."

...

'Sama' is a typically Japanese suffix. This guy is Japanese. Scratch that, they're all Japanese.

Oh god, they're reincarnated people.

It's been more than a year since we were so rudely summoned there, and a year since our group separated. Or course, the great me has discovered a lot of interesting things, as expected from someone as smart and powerful as the great me!

We weren't summoned here to vanquish the demon lord, which was probably why my radiant goddess disappeared.

But now, another one emerged, so they started training the great me and those three other peasants to do what we were summoned for.

The human countries were in disarray, and new kings and queens emerged. An unknown woman in Meridiens, and the great me's little brother in Oriens. As expected from someone sharing my blood , ha ha.

The troubling thing is, my beautiful goddess wasn't with him. According to him, she reacted poorly to being a political hostage and ran away into the wilds.

As expected from her, really.

Recently, there has been word that a wandering knight was fighting bandits, monsters and demons alike in Occidens, and that leads us to now.

"So, Peon, tell me more about what he looks like."

The messenger that I was holding by the foot upside down at the top of a ravine was screaming in fright.

"G-golden hair and blue eyes, androgynous appearance, monstrous strength and great magical powers!"

"Hmph, that will do, peasant."

Then, the great me mightily lifted him up, before stuffing him up in a barrel and sending him down the nearby river. I see another messenger arrive, and pat the wooden artifact.

"More and more work for us."

The wood groaned slightly.

Agito and Barrel-sama alliance! Stopping time and time again critical information from reaching the bad people!

Poor Yuri-kun is about to have his hands full.

Glad to know my fight writing-fu still sucks. Seriously, I should just have skipped it altogether and written ' Yuri-chan stomped them all and hurt her arm. The end.' x_x
