722 Years after the Repentance

Dear self,
Seeing Vamera gave me an idea, which I talked about with her. She was dubious but seemed willing. The starlight sprout seems to be developing well in the dream, though I feel like the dream seems to twist more often around where it was planted.
The blizzard was still going today. Strong winds too. We keep mostly indoors this time of year, but the garden always needs tending. It’s not a witch’s garden so we have to go through more effort maintaining it. The only witches around here are those that are passing through. The Bubbleshil seems to be growing rapidly after I harvested some of it a few days ago. There might be some potency gathering there. A patch of the Blitterleaf died, which is bad news. It’s not the sturdiest of plants.
For today I was working on the doll construct. I finished the control lattice that coordinates the movements of its limbs, and the glamour placed over it is complete now. The movement working is very complex for a single charm, but with the lattice it means I’m not putting too many enchantments on the same object, since every joint is enchanted with the same working instead of separate ones. I decided to imbed an invocation and a ritual into the glamour, so that it might be changed easily when we might want to adjust its appearance.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Mother approved. The workings were a lot leaner than what I did with the Teetotum, so there is much less risk of warping from other nearby magic despite the complexity of animating the joints. Sometimes doing more can be done without adding to the required resources with just a little more thought and effort placed into the methods. We had Tori try his hand at learning how to do invocations with gestures and had him puppeteering the doll. It was a bit awkward, but the lattice working I did at least made it easier for someone with no experience in puppeteering, which none of us have.
The final step was going into the ritual room and preparing something special. I used up a lot of Nightgloom again, but this time it wasn’t to empower a ritual but to create a connection through to my subtle body. The material came from my subtle body after all. I also added some Stargleam to tie in with the Aspect of the night sky properly. I placed a circle of red soil and blackened ash around the doll for the ritual formation. Mostly symbolic, but we luckily have some small odd soil samples in the cellar among our innumerable other Materia. It’s easy enough to keep a few small jars of dirt in a corner in case you need it for a spell one day. Vamera suggested I use red dirt, and we had some labelled between all the knickknacks.
The final components were a small Copsewand from a tree outside to represent the woodland. A moonless night sky, trees below, and the ground were ash and char had a home. I needed to focus on the image here. Finally, a small drop of liquid Blithweed extract, smeared on my forehead, and a candle set alight with Dawnglitter and Duskblaze essence. The energies in the chamber swirled and overwhelmed me for a few seconds and then it was over.
The doll was alive. Though Vamera seemed to a little dissatisfied with the appearance of her new vessel. She demanded we go into town tomorrow and get a proper dress for its body. She didn’t like the bland cloth dress either. We usually get others to make the cosmetic parts of the toys be enchant, other than my glamours of course. Vamera didn’t seem too fond of the idea of her clothes just being a glamour.
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.
