Entry 58

7th Light beneath the twelfth Moon

3761 Cycles beyond the Dark

722 Years after the Repentance

Entry: 1/058

Dear self,

The dream was mostly unchanged from my last memory of it. The greatest difference was the starry plant sprout gaining in size. With the pinpricks of light, it has on the edges of its leaves it is easier to spot than any other thing beneath the moonless sky. It grew a second sprout beside the primary one as well, so the plant is spreading. If I find a use for the figment of a plant in the dream I and certain it can be made sustainable from how it is growing at present.

Vamera and the dancing light entities seem the same as they were before. The little ones might have become marginally more energetic but Vamera is still completely inert. One strange thing is that where the little lights dance in formation at random places they now pulse their luminance as well in time with their movements. It’s nothing sophisticated but it is a clear sign of awareness of some kind. I’ll have to ask Vamera what she might know about them when she wakes as figments are as much an unknown to me as general Illusory magic itself is.

Rahph has finally created a true dream construct with the influence he holds over the mindscape. He is still at eye height to me, so he ultimately holds the most influence over the dream, if an underutilized influence. He made a pit of fire. Just fire, burning endlessly. He must have gotten tired of the unending night my influence has placed over the dream and made this bed of flaming embers as a substitute for dreaming of sunlight.

His charred territory also grew when he started making that fire. The trees just receded from his sunbathing rock as he made his bonfire brighter and brighter. It was just a dream, so the space literally just expanded around him. The trees at the edge of is blackened clearing are still the same ones.

On this day, several complaints made the news of a few passing adventurers making trouble in town. The two customers we had come in both needed a few enchantments repaired and reinforced after being damaged by during fight between adventurers using enchanted equipment. It was apparently one adventure accusing the Dauthulscha woman I helped yesterday of theft, and they were ready enough for a fight that they started right in Nyri’s common room. Several of her furniture was damaged and some broken.

Stolen story; please report.

It’s not too surprising as the adventurers coming through town are the highly competitive sort racing to be earlier to the ruins that opened up instead of waiting for better weather. The blizzards have gotten stronger and we spend a lot of energy reinforcing the environmental magic around the garden and down the chalk path towards town. The townsfolk likely have it worse except for living so close to their neighbours. It is likely only Ekelyn and her orphanage can avoid having problems with the snowstorm, and even then, the children are likely blocked on to the orphanage grounds and miserably isolated.

Anora went outside once today carrying what I noticed later was some Swelterwort. She came back to the house empty handed so she must have been ding something nearby. I gave her a long glare for avoiding chores in the garden to be sneaking around suspiciously away from the house. She’s expected to contribute while she’s at home.

I had some fun experimenting with the Frost Bubbleshil some more. I added Jingsnicker into the mix to add an audible aspect to the potion effects. Eventually I came up with an actual potion making recipe that I then brewed several times. I only failed one batch after figuring out the combination of ingredients, and it was the second try, so I have a good amount of good quality product now. I even had Tori test the stuff after making sure it was safe myself and he quite liked the effect. It was only fair I shared a little with him since he gave me the inspiration for the idea.

I also worked on the glamour for the appearance of the doll. I was first trying too hard to make it appear like a realistic depiction of a little girl, but it kept looking incredible creepy for reasons I cannot articulate. I instead went for a toy aesthetic with painted red circles on the cheeks and a largely shapeless head apart from the image drawn onto the face. I made the hair hard and wood-like and gave it lumpy trails that made it feel more like hair in an implicit way rather than being a realistic depiction of hair.

With the evasion cloak I similarly worked on its appearance. I extracted an essence signature from trees, ground, snow, and a lot of things around the house. I then integrated those essences into the cloak and let it learn again by standing over random objects and in front of random places and guiding it into blending in with the background more. It didn’t really work all that well as the Rift Foil leaves tended to create a distinct pattern similar to overlapping scales. I no needed to work on making the individual leaves blend in with each other so that were they intersect with one another becomes less obvious, as well as improving their ability to have complex texture within a single leaf instead of a single texture per leaf and complex textures needing to be spread across several leaves.

Hope we fare well.

Regards,

Me.
