23rd Light beneath the eleventh Moon
3761 Cycles beyond the Dark
722 Years after the Repentance

Dear self,
The dream began in much the same way as it had ended. Rahph had gotten bored of worrying the little ball of light, so it was free to float around again, or hide in the corner as he stared at it unblinkingly. I was again at eye height with the darcinderaht whenever I tried to approach him, which means he still has more control over the dream than I do, if a very undirected control. The moonless night remained, so the little sun, Vamera, couldn’t rise into the sky and create daylight. It’s radiance only shined like a lantern, and couldn’t pierce into the surrounding shadows like before.
Vamera seemed to be recovering from something. Its empathetic communications were becoming clearer, and I could now sense more detailed emotions from the little sun. Annoyance, petulance, frustration. There was a little bit of resentment there, but I could sense most of the negative feelings weren’t directed at me anything near at hand, mostly Vamera felt frustrated at the present circumstances we find ourselves in.
In this dream, I am the sky and Rahph is the world, so there isn’t actually much place to hide away from Rahph if he had wanted to wander out of his hole. Vamera is the onky thing that was out of place, and the on,y other living thing within the dreamscape. I took the little sun away from Rahoh with me to explore the wilds around us. There was nothing defined in the world yet, so I had to let something emerge from the dream, and stumbling around in the dark is a great way of finding things you hadn’t known were there. Vamera was my lantern.
The trees and thorns were quite repetitive, but they became more interesting as I spent more time exploring through the sparse woodland. The most remarkable tree I could find was this extremely large one that was basically just a giant wide trunk rising like a squat tower with relatively few branches of leaves crowning its height.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
It was a really fat tree with its trunk being about as wide as it was tall, making its girth even more impressive than its elevation. It had no low branches and was to wide to cling to so I couldn’t climb its trunk, but from how it looked from the ground it might even have a flat top which would be weird for a tree.
Vamera scaled the tree side without issue, and danced among the leaves like a firefly in the dark. There was a curious amusement then but the tree seemed to be stranger to me than anyone else. The big tree had a lot of space around it, and there were none of the thorny plants close to it. It was the closest thing to an open space other than the ashen circle surrounding Rahph’s sunbathing rock.
I was much better rested in the morning compared to how I had woken up yesterday. My face had plummeted asleep after finishing dinner last night, and the strange creening noise has stopped sounding so disturbing to my ears. I had missed the ritual we had intended to integrate into the ambient mana. From what I could see it worked with how the mana was now roiling around the confined interloper, but we have to wait to see if there are other interlopers. The one we have captured at least has made fewer attempts at escape and became more lethargic for longer periods of time.
The attempts it has made were worse than before in exchange. Tori is still staying with the Whirlstorms for the time being as we wait for anyone sent by the Guild to arrive. The interloper had nudged itself into the shop while a customer was there and I had to interrupt talking to them about their options for the communion statue in order to evict an invisible pest. I for one do not want to know what happens if you mix an eldritch creature and a shop filled with miscellaneous enchanted items and waited. That phantom pain flared up as well, and it is the most palpable in my knee which made me trip and fall in front of the customer.
In between dealing with the entity raging unpredictably to escape I finished the infusion of the evasion cloak. It is now an actual wondrous item, and my best attempt at one yet. It does not have any Opus yet, so it only has the workings I will be using to empower its displacement glamour. We focus more on workings because the are the basis for the expected durability of an magical effect across its lifetime but for this the constructs that define how the Opus translates puissance into a manifested phenomenon will be the most difficult part of establishing the enchantment. With an inherent subtle body creating the workings necessary to base the item with are trivial at most.
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.
