Chapter 0063
“Are you guys insane?” Rayael asked the group as a whole. It was obvious they have been discussing the fight behind Rayael’s back and came to the conclusion their group can handle more than one [Frenzied Salmon]. That conniving traitor dig a pit for her to jump into. See if she’d trust her again!
For her own good. Bullsh*t.
“We aren’t insane. I know we can handle more than one mob at a time. It is a waste of our energy to pull one at a time when I know we can handle of group of them.” Sylphie said matterfactedly.
Rayael came to same conclusion before they did, but said nothing because she was concern about the damage output of her group. And she was concerned about her life. Yes, her life is most important factor in not saying anything.
In a new fight or when the group wants to pull more than they can handle, the first person to die is the tank. Stupid dps who pulls aggro from the tanks are the ones generally the first to die, but in a situation where everyone knows their roles, it is the tank that dies.
Rayael doesn’t want to die.
“Aside from the first heal Sylphie tossed on you, she didn’t cast any healing spells. She was damaging the mobs with her spell the whole time. You’re still alive. What are you worried about?” Erica asked the obvious.
“Me dying. The mobs running away and pulling more mobs to us. Oh yea, a group wipe.”
“What is a group wipe?” little Aetharious asked then immediately darted behind his brother. Apparently the little pipsqueak loses his reservation in a fight but becomes all shy and innocent afterwards.
“A wipe or group wipe is when the entire group dies.” Sylphie, the traitor, explained to the shy little boy. “You dying is an acceptable experience. It’ll eventually happen at one time or another, so you might as go through the novel experience for a good cause. As we proceed further into the game, dying on a new boss will be a normal thing. You died 23 times trying to down Azael the Revered Crimson Drake.”
“Dying in 2D is different from dying in a virtual reality game.”
Sylphie continued as if Rayael never said anything, “The mobs are limited to the environment. If the [Frenzied Salmon] runs away, they will draw the aggro of other [Frenzied Salmon]. The [Gigantic Black Grizzly Bear] aren’t pulled by the [Frenzied Salmon]. In fact [Gigantic Black Grizzly Bear] eats the [Frenzied Salmon] so try position in them far away from the [Gigantic Black Grizzly Bear].”
“I don’t have the skills to hold aggro on multiples mobs.” Rayael explained her issue with tanking multiples mobs.
“You got skill points. Is there anything in your skill try that allows you to hold aggro on multiple mobs?” Sylphie asked.
“There is a skill in the Attention tree, Resounding Roar, that can attract their attention but I don’t haven’t decided on the path I am going to take for my Guardian.”
“Take it now and respect later. You know you are going to need to take an AOE threat generator.”
Rayael didn’t want to spread her points around too much for her Guardian. She needed the points to mess around with the Counter Tree.
Furthermore, the points required for a Guardian to become a good tank require a lot of talent points spread out in several sub trees. This means at low levels, Guardians are crappy tanks.

Her tanking issues will be considered later. Rayael knew she had to respect her Guardian at a later date.
She opens the Awareness tree and in the Attention subtree, she put one point into:
Resounding Roar - forces the mobs within an area to attack the caster.
Range: 10 meters.
Cost: 50 mana.
Duration: 2 seconds.
Cool down: 30 minutes.
She put one points into the skills and five points to reduce the cooldown timer from 30 minutes to 25 minutes.
“Hey!” Rayael just realize she got talked into taking a skill she wasn’t interest in yet she realized the utility of the skill. Still…
“Just pull. More mobs die = more loot.” Sylphie consoled her duped cousin.
“You better keep me alive!” Rayael threaten, but her threats are effective as a kitten yawning, more adorable than dangerous.
Rayael wade into the river and use Resounding Roar for the first time. All the mobs with a 10-meter radius beelined it towards her and started attacking her.
Ching.
Ching.
Ching.
The sound of the [Frenzied Salmon] ramming their head against her shield was soothing to the Guardian. She didn’t have to worry about dying when she is behind a sturdy shield, until a [Frenzied Salmon] attacked her from behind with its Lunge skill, destabilizing the Guardian and causing her to fall into the water.
“Take note, when tanking more than one mob, they can encircle and attack you from behind.” Sylphie tossed the oh so helpful advice after the fact.
Rayael got swept to the deeper part of the river before coming up to the surface for air.
For the brief moment she was under the water she saw a cave or was it a portal out of the corner of her eyes. The Guardian took note of the anomaly, but immediately swam back to her group got up and into position to tank. This time she won’t make the mistake of defending only her front.
Unfortunately, because of a few precious moments Rayael got swept away, the mobs turned their attention to another target, Egarious.
Paladins are not the best tanks around. They are a hybrid class than can sorta tank, sorta melee and sorta heal, basically the jacks of all trade, master of none situation. Although they can’t be the main tank in a raid or massive group situation, they can tank a mob five levels higher than them quite easily.
Egarious had a skill and the experience to pull the [Frenzied Salmon] towards him and hold their attention while Sylphie and Erica focused fire one at a time. Little Aetharious… little Aetharious was in the air, directly out of reach of the mob.
Damn, Rayael forgot all about her wings. They could fly if they pull more mobs than they could handle.
Rayael could try to pull the mobs off of Egarious and try to tank the mobs, or she could change to Altreyes and start dealing massive amount of damage.
Altreyes it is.
Once a tank loses aggro on a mob, it is hard to take it back unless they burn their snap aggro skills. Rayael could use Intense Aggravation to pull one mob off Egarious or wait for her cool down to expire and use Resounding Roar, but where is the fun in that? Rayael didn’t forget her grudge against the sibling so she won’t outright harm the duo, she can and will mess with them should the situation permits, and situations permits!
