Chapter 0055

Chapter 0055

Hunger is a great motivating factor for anyone, and Altreyes is no exception. Following the smell of food, Altreyes found herself sitting on the corner table in the inn, eating mediocre food.

Why is Altreyes eating mediocre food instead of a sumptuous meal complete with all the trimmings when she is very hungry? It is a simple matter of money. Altreyes has money, but she’s too cheap to spend it on food.

“I work hard for three days and slept for three days. That’s a total of six days of working, yet I only have 40 golds, 60 silvers and 79 copper coins! The inns will start charging money for their rooms a week after the game starts, so after today I have to pay money for room and board. I need to buy profession supplies and all the other necessities needed for long term grinding. I have no money to splurge!”

The food Altreyes is eating taste pretty good if you ignore their dubious names: Rabbit Hind Leg Stew, Pig Blood Porridge and Fermented Cabbage.

Hmmm… only the Rabbit Hind Leg Stew sounds strange. Altreyes has eaten Pig Blood Porridge and Fermented Cabbage before. The Pig Blood Porridge and Fermented Cabbage taste better back on Earth. It is probably due to the condiment served with the food. Altreyes like hot and sour food. She normally adds a bit of chile and lemon to her food.

As for condiments in Arashia… buy it or bring your own.

If Altreyes were to come in contact with a chile bush or a lemon tree, she’s going to pick it dry. The miser in her refuses to pay extra for condiments that should have came free with the food.

Are you in a rush? You are stuffing your face full of food like a starving refugee. Asalia asked.

“Ahhh moogt a wwww bbbbb oon. It shem laak I haven’t eaten in forever.” Asalia easily translated Altreyes spoken words into, “I might as well be one. It seems like I haven’t eaten in forever.”

Don’t talk with your mouth full.

Altreyes nodded and continue shoveling food into her mouth. If Asalia didn’t want her to talk with her mouth full, then she won’t talk at all. Food is more important than conversation right now.

Indeed, food is important. So important to the starving Assassin that even her unruly tail help her shovel food into her mouth faster by bringing the food closer to her and stacking the plates in a neat row.

Altreyes became state after 30 minutes of a gorge fest where she would have been fat and bloat were she back on Earth. Here, she gets a buff from the food and a satiated feeling. Living in the virtual world for the win!

After a full body stretch, where the once appreciated tail tried to snag more food for its forgetful main body, Altreyes decided to wander around Evanstrial again.

Previously, they were in a rush since they were searching for information. Altreyes couldn’t linger around the places she wanted to before.

“To the mount area!” Altreyes ordered Asalia to lead to place where they sell the mount. Sadly the poor (in her mind) Perrian Let can not afford the mount.

If Erica knew Altreyes farmed around 40 golds and considered herself poor, she’d slap her cousin and would run behind Sylphie for protection. She remembers the beating Altreyes dished out earlier. After farming the personal dungeon off and on for the last six days, Erica had 12 golds to her name.

Sylphie had 25 golds her name. She’s a proficient farmer, but no one was at Altreyes’ level when earning money.

After paying for the meal, Altreyes had 39 golds, 68 silvers and 54 coppers.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

A regular land mount, which increase running speed by 40% cost one crystal where as a regular flying mount, which increase the travel speed of a regular player in the air by 40% cost 100 crystals.

Gamers like to see their characters tricked out, either with the best gear in the game or the best mount. Altreyes is no exception. She likes to watch her character prance around with pretty little accessories like mounts or one of a kind clothes which serves only the aesthetics and does nothing to enrich the character.

Altreyes even got down on her hands and knees to inspect every feet, hoofs, claws and paws.

Altreyes wore a smug face as she inspected each and every mount available. “There is no rush to buy a flying a mount because she could fly! Picking the Aerialis race has its benefits.”

Altreyes is very aware she had to practise flying in Arashia. The previous expedition to Pixie Hill was a disgrace for the experienced gamer. She despises her weakness. Kissing the ground upon landing and vomiting her meal due to motion sickness is a waste for the short Perrian Let.

The meal she expelled cost 2 silvers! She farmed Pixie Hill for several hours and only got 4 silvers and some coppers.

Luckily meals in the inn are free for the first day. To go food cost money which was why Altreyes didn’t pack any.

So when she got the chance, she took to the air and flew.

In most places, aerial flight is limited. When a new game first launched, programmers and developers can't create the 3D look to the game that is necessary for flight. As technology increase, programers and developers were able to add a flight aspect to game.

Arashia is a different world. There is no need to wait for technology to catch up for flight simulation to be added. Therefore, flight in Evanstrial is permitted, even highly encourage.

Altreyes took her time exploring the world, flying high into the sky to get a bird’s eye view of the capital, twisting and twirling around massive buildings like a hamster on an obstacle course. Altreyes would like to say a bird in an obstacle course except she never saw a bird navigating a maze.

She hmph when she saw the red light district but she knew better than to go in there. Instead she allowed Asalia to guide her to the Auction House.

“By the way, how can I tell the difference between you and Braile? You both appear like the grim reaper to me.”

Name tags.

“I turned it off.”

Asalia looked at Braille. Braille looked at Asalia. Bright gold letters began to form along their right shoulder, like a tattoo name tag.

“Thanks.”

You are welcomed.

Altreyes happily entered the Auction House only to came back out a sorry camper. The goods on the Auction House were incredibly dismal and if she knew she could have gotten an better prices selling her loot at the Auction House rather than the NPC, she’d come here to sell her loot rather than to the cheap NPC.

Check your mail. Asalia said. She knew the method to cheer up the short Perrian Let.

Altreyes went to check her mail. “Yay gold. I got my breakfast money back!”

Happy?

“Yeppers.”

Altreyes happily skipped to her next destination, turning the corner, then attacking the bastard that been following her all day. She didn’t get on her hands and knees to check for feet in the mount area for nothing.

“Ah.” a shrill scream sound out.

Her stalker was a kid…
