Chapter 0062

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: Madalinos! What can you tell me about the Guardian class?

Rayael needs more information. Normally, she would ask her brother Kaleseze for it but her current conjecture should remain as private as possible. She really doesn’t want to know what her brother would make her do in the name of testing. Once he attacked a test dummy for over three hours to confirm his suspicion about a skill he was using. It isn’t bad if he was gathering the data for himself, considering this is the brother who let is character runs around in circle while he thinks, but if he was interested in can only be gathered by a third party then… yeah, Rayael doesn’t want to think about it.

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: Oh my baby, why did you choose that class?

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]:....

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: What is wrong with the Guardian Class?

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: Ah baby, Madalinos didn’t mean it like that.

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: Then what do you mean?

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: The Guardian class is highly dependant on endurances and their weapoon.

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: Yeah. I notice the effect of endurance on the countering skills.

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: After passing a certain endurance threshold, the certain skills can be access at anytime. At 2000 endurance points or above, the countering portion of the skill can be unleashed at anytime or it can be absorbed into the body to further increase endurances. Ofcourse, it is on the premise that the player has enough endurance to begin with. The class is a vicious cycle of pain and suffering!

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: Does that mean I’m going to become an M?

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: M?

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: Masochist.

Rayael sincerely began to cry her heart out. She doesn’t like pain. She wants to avoid pain given the chance, yet she stupidly chose a class that forces her to endure torture like situation in order to improve. If she knew, she’d pick a different class!

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: No. Oh no, nothing like that. It means the class is mediocre in the beginning. It take too much work for it the class to be good. More so than the other plate classes.

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: But it can be good?

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: It can be great.

[Rayael whisper to Madalinos]: Thank you.

[Madalinos whisper to Rayael]: You are very welcomed.

Rayael popped up from her break, eager to test out more skills. She already cosigned herself to spending the money and speccing Rayael in the future, therefore she was eager to explore the class.

Money was a consideration when assigning talent points and stat points. After all the fewer mistakes she makes, the less money she’d used to fix those mistakes.

Rayael knew there are hidden elements in Arashia that she can spend an entire lifetime searching for and never explore the true depth of this world. She was glad she encountered one those hidden gems on her Guardian.

She knew there was more to it than what Madalinos was telling her. It is up to her to discover all the secrets of the class rather than have it handed to her on a silver platter. Contacting Madalinos was a way to keep her off guard and avoid an insane psycho stalking her later. Rayael knew if she didn’t contact the crazy woman often enough, the crazy woman would come a knocking.

Rayael also wanted to get Madalinos’ impression of the class. From what she could tell, the potential for Guardians are really high, so high that few can draw it out.

Blood, sweat and tears need to be poured into the class before any decent returns can be seen, and excellent result can be seen if she sticks with the class.

Rayael isn’t worried about grinding a class. She plays a full-time healer. If there is a masochist, it is the healers. They follow their tanks around like a servant, dedicating their heals to their meat shield without appreciation and they get yell at when the tanks dies, regardless of the situation. Hey wait a minute…. does it make her an M because she is a healer?

Sniffle.

Damn stupid relatives and their lying ways!

“Are you done being stupid yet?” Erica asked.

“Being stupid is adorable. No wonder no one likes you. I’d be you spend most of your time emasculating men with your sharp tongue that they are too scared to come near you.”

“Unlike you, I have deep meaningful conversations with my partner instead of your inane chatter.”

Rayael snorted, “This is coming from a person who has verbal diarrhea! Your nagging is classified as cruel and unusual torture.” She knew the System agreed with her too. She gain a lot of endurance points listening to Erica’s chatter. Rayael is smart enough not to reveal that fact to Erica. She doesn’t want to listen to Erica nagged. She’d leave the unpleasant task up to Sylphie.

“Ah quips from the insane. Why don’t you go back to your corner and speak to yourself? You’re so good at it one would think you’d have multiple personalities.”

“At least I’d have someone listening to my opinions, unlike you who scare anyone away when you open your big mouth!” As a comeback… yeah, Rayael realized her blunder when she spoke those words.

“So you admit you are insane.” ...and Erica capitalized on Rayael’s blunder.

“Damn woman’s worse than a shark scenting blood.” Rayael thought in her mind and this time she was careful enough not to transmit her thoughts out loud.

“If you two are done, I will like to get back to grinding.” Sylphie interjected.

“Aren’t you tired of playing peacemaker?” Erica turned her arrogance attitude towards Sylphie.

“So you acknowledge you are a childish brat squabbling with another childish brat.”

“Yay. Way to go Sylphie!”

“You do realize she is calling you and me a childish brat.” Erica pointed out, much to Rayael’s dismay.

“Now that the insults are out of the way, what did you discover about your Guardian class?” Sylphie asked in a bland voice, belying her evil intentions.

The ever gullible Rayael jumped right into the fire, “Guardians have high potential, but it requires high endurance and a good weapon to realize those potential. Some of their skills can serve as either as offensive attack or a defensive ability. It is just, ya know, need high endurance.”

“Oh, so your you becoming an M comment stems from the need to acquire endurance point.”

“Yeah.”

“I know how you like to improve your character in a game. I will support you all the way.” Sylphie said in a saccharine sweet tone.

“Thanks Sylphie. I knew I could count on you.”

“You do realize she means to support you in becoming an M right?” Erica pointed out. The Ruse Marren couldn’t stand how foolishly naive her cousin is. She truly wondered how Rayael can live until now without being sold into prostitution. She’d probably pay her pimp into selling her off!

Ah, yeah, three powerful family guarding her day and night. That’s how she has lived until now.

Erica made a mistake in her assumption about Rayael. Rayael is actually an intelligent woman who can take care of herself. She doesn’t let her guard down unless she is around family. Hence, Erica gains the impression Rayael is a silly sweet fool. It goes to show them how much Rayael trust them to show another side of herself to them. It also shows how much she is wary of their reaction to her that she gives them the impression she is an idiot.

“Whaa?”

“I will support you in being the best Guardian you can be. We can start raising your endurance by tanking all the mobs in the river.” Sylphie said with a dangerous smile.

“This kind of support, I can do without!” a foolish Guardian screamed inside her mind.
