Chapter 32: Introduction and Hierarchy within Sovereigns

Recquir Castle.

Within the throne room, all the less noteworthy figures have left with only the twin princesses and Lucas present.

Maia and Syrene were also present.

"Ancestor, these two respected seniors are?"

"Old friends. They're also my equals yet stronger than me still."

Serra explained with a laugh.

This stunned the three of them.

Stronger than they're ancestor?

The three had already considered they're ancestor as the strongest in their hearts.

That they're ancestor would claim two to be stronger than him and would appear before them?

Of course they'd be badly startled!

Fortunately, Lucas was mature and could regain his composure.

"I see... Old friends...?"

"Indeed. Now, arrange some place to chat and eat for us."

Serra commanded.

"Yes, Ancestor."

Immediately, Lucas arranged some food and wine at an elegant table and they all sat down.

"So, who are these respected seniors?"

Lucas asked.

"They're Elric, Spring Sovereign and Kruez, Summer Sovereign."

"I see... An honor to meet your acquantance, respected seniors."

Lucas bowed his head.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

It was not an easy thing to have a king bow his head, however, these two were far stronger than him and could obliterate their empire with ease.

It was not shameful to bow his head.

Furthermore, these two were friends.

That aside, their ancestor was also present and wouldn't allow such a thing.

"Ancestor. Can I ask a question?"

Meileen raised her hand to ask.

"Hm? What is it?"

"Ancestor, why did you claim yourself the weakest of the four sovereigns but claimed that they wouldn't be able to harm you?"

This was a valid question.

Lucas, Eisel, Maia and Syrene also wanted to know and perked their ears.

"Oh. That's simple. I suppose I'll explain."

Serra manipulated the water to form a sphere.

"To start with, imagine this sphere as power or as an ore. Power is power, it can rival others or be superior to another. However, this sphere can't always beat another."

Serra manipulated the water to form another sphere near the first one.

"Techniques... Tactics... Styles... Strategies... These can change the shape of the power to something else. Now, think of these spheres as ores. Ores... In it's raw state, are useless. However, after refining, it can be turned into weapons or various metals for valuable uses."

Serra explained.

"This ore here..."

Serra pointed to one sphere.

"It can represent my power. Now, watch this."

The sphere transformed into a shield.

"Each cultivator has trained and refined his or her power to their own styles. Some are more adept at defensive techniques or supportive techniques which is why their sphere would be a shield. Something well suited to defense but ill-suited to offense."

"Oh."

The others understood immediately.

Indeed. Ore was like that.

In it's unrefined state, you could use it to attack someone by throwing it.

But that was crude and unrefined.

A waste of effort.

However, if you forge it into a weapon, it would be more efficient.

"I'm similar to this shield. My techniques that I developed or learned are all defensive and supportive in nature. These guys can't harm me that much thanks to my defenses. We have the same basis of power however the way we refined these powers determined our ranks."

Serra explained.

"My power would be a shield."

Serra pointed to the shield of water.

"I'm extremely tough and can't be killed. My supportive techniques are the highest class."

Serra pointed to the other sphere.

It formed into a spear.

"This represent's Aura's power. Like a spear, it has long range, flexible and very well suited to penetration."

Then, Serra pointed to the shield again.

It transformed into an axe.

"This represent's Kruez's power. An axe had great destructive strenght and power. But's it's unrefined and is difficult to wield and relies mainly on pure power."

Serra pointed to the spear.

It turned into a sword.

"This represents Elric's power. A sword is flexible and can be used in various ways. Be it defense or offense. I'm the weakest. Followed by Elric. Then Aura, then Kruez."

Serra explained.

The other three sovereigns nodded.

There was nothing wrong with that analogy.
