Chapter 440: Finding a connection

Chapter 440: Finding a connection

It took the rest of the afternoon, but Nigel finally found an internet connection. The lodge was older and had only a basic internet connection. Nigel needed to get online to see if Jet had left anything for him in the online drop site.

After they cleared the lodge of hostiles, Nigel pulled out his portable network finder. The device was better at tracking hidden internet connections than any of the phone apps that most people use. His device scanned all radio frequencies in the immediate area. After checking almost every part of the lodge for any stray signals, he came up empty-handed.

I can’t believe that this place doesn’t have an internet connection. Nigel thought.

“We’ve checked everything meter of this lodge and there are no more hostiles,” Blanka said as she entered the office.

“I need to get online, but there isn’t a Wi-Fi connection to be had,” Nigel said.

Blanka closed the distance between them.

“Why do you need to get online when all you need is right here?” Blanka said.

Nigel swallowed, but his mouth was dry. He felt a familiar tightness that wasn’t all that unpleasant. She put a hand on his face, her touch was electrifying than Jet’s. A pang of shame overcame him, just for a moment before the lustful desire took him. He kissed her. She clawed at his chest and removed his shirt. The chilly air didn’t dull his senses. He needed her.

Eva, then Vedrana and now Blanka? I must be the luckiest man alive.

He peeled her jacket, and shirt off. Her bare white skin was soft and inviting. He kissed her neck and pressed against her. She gave a yelp.

“What’s the matter?” Nigel said, alarmed.

Blanka checked her tourniquet. In the moment, she had all but forgotten about her accident with the former residents. Blood oozed from the wound.

“You’re hurt,” Nigel said.

Blanka shushed him. “It’s okay Nigel, try to find a first aid kit and meet me in the room next door.”

Nigel ran out of the office and found the first desk. He rummaged under the cash register and guest registry to find anything useful. Nothing! He checked every drawer and found a box of bandages that were several sizes too small and an ancient-looking tube of anti-infection gel. He snatched up everything and headed to the nearest guest room. Blanka was lying on the bed with most of her clothing removed, only her undergarments remained. His chest was pounding, and he felt flushed. Blood oozed from a wound on Blanka’s left leg. He dropped the bandages and went to the bathroom to find some clean towels. He soaked one with hot water. He did his best to clean the wound with the hot towel. Blanka hissed, but didn’t protest. Although the bandages were a few sizes too small, he could dress the wound by connecting several to a washcloth. Moments later, the bleeding stopped.

“You’re a good nurse, Nigel,” Blanka said in a low voice.

She removed the remainder of her clothes and slipped under the covers. She waved him over. Nigel obeyed.

“But you’re injured. I don’t want to hurt—”

“Let me be your guide.”

Nigel took Blanka’s lead and led him to just the right position. Despite the many trials and disappointments in recent months, Nigel let himself be immersed in the moment. Everything else melted away.
