Meanwhile at the Bromwick
Dr. Sylvester Javitts entered a massive ballroom. His reasons for joining the Quintessence Society, also known as the cabal was straightforward. Take of the pressure off his gas manufacturing and distribution process.
Let’s see how connected my new friends are.
Kurtzen was pointing to a map of an island and was talking about an energy source. He stopped when the doctor entered the room.
“No need to stop on my account,” Dr. Javitts said.
“Ahh, Doctor, you’ve arrived just in time,” Mr. Chen said.
“We were just going over our cyborg supply problem,” Mr. Tage said.

“Go on, I’m intrigued. Perhaps I can help.”
Mr. Tage explained the significance of a meteorite that was found on his island, which provided an unlimited source of power. He also described a shortage of suitable labor for the building of the reactor.
“The island will serve as a base for our group. Dr. Ash’s cybernetic research has proven useful for our cause, but we lack volunteers,” Mr. Tage continued.
“I think I can help with that. My assistant and I have been experimenting with a neurotoxin that will help control a human subject long enough to insert certain cybernetic implants.”
“I’m intrigued. How does it work?” Mr. Chen asked.
“The toxin is not deadly. It stimulates areas of the frontal lobe. This distracts the volunteer long enough for the required surgery. Once the implants are installed, I have complete control.”
“You’re talking about cybernetic slaves,” Dr. Ash said.
“That’s disgusting,” the Sultan added.
“It’s what’s necessary for our kind to survive,” Mr. Chen said.
“There’s one problem. Several groups have found out about the experiment and are sabotaging our efforts. I need a high-profile distraction so that these groups will back off while I move to a new location.”
“I have an idea that will help both of us,” Chen said.
Dr. Javitts listened as Mr. Chen outlined the plan.
