Almandine found the mana suppression in the apartment was heavier than she felt before when she teleported back to the place. She noticed Bahyun had used this magic circle to wipe away their traces after their purification trips but the suppression in the apartment felt unusually strong.
“Sorry, have to be careful. They were just five hundred meters away form us, I could even see them if I stood on the balcony.” Bahyun said as he sat amidst piles of scattered batteries, surrounded by wires and runes. Despite his obvious struggle with sweats and heavy breath, he managed to muster a smile and asked, “Do you need me to loosen it a bit?”
Almandine felt the magical suppression circle uncomfortable, as she was sensitive to such things being a magic circuit herself, but she shook her head, considering it bearable.
“We managed to clear off all the stored dark energy! Finally, we can throw these away at the recycle center.” Bahyun exclaimed as he stretched his body and began tidying up the mess.
Almandine followed him with the chores, neatly stacking up the batteries since it was the only task she knew, leaving the tools for Bahyun to handle. “Do we not need to store dark energy in the future when we purify the wasteland?”she asked.
The new magic, which combined both light and dark energy, delivered great results in terminating the targets. She thought Bahyun would want to make use of it.
“We do, but not in this way.” Bahyun replied, rubbing her head, “Storing energy in batteries isn’t really efficient in any sense, and I don’t want you to face any danger. So I’ll think of another way that can collect the dark energy and purify the wasteland at the same time.”
So that we could gain another trump card for you to have a legal identity and live without hiding.
Almandine couldn’t read his deeper thoughts but nodded to show she understood and would do whatever he decided.
The incident of the invasion by sixteen dark beasts made headlines and breaking news, just as Bahyun had expected. Journalist and reporters were unable to get close to the scene when the incident happened, so the footage they captured showed only the remaining ruins and some surveillance clips provided by the authorities.
“The battle was truly intense! It even affected the surveillance cameras facing the battlefield! However, from the footage we managed to retrieve, those dark beasts were nothing compared to our Precaria Gem Squad, which soon retire. Though it is sad to bid them farewell, perhaps we could hope for future generations of Mages to be even greater!” The news reporter said with a smile, while the footage beside him showed nothing about Almandine.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Almandine didn’t think much when she saw the news; she continued cooking in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Morganite was frustrated at the Special Mage Armed Force’s Headquarters as she slammed the table, “Not a single footage captured her!”
The commander of the Special Mage Armed Force, Otmeen, sighed and said, “I believe your report, but you lack images and other proof to support your claim. It will be difficult for me to persuade my superiors to accept your suggestion.”
A magical weapon that is both small, portable, and powerful at the same time, would be groundbreaking research and result. Yet, it arrived silently, held in the hands of a humanoid product crafted by an intelligent humanoid dark beast. With surveillance camera ruined and no evidence on how the weapon operated, if they were to believe Morganite’s report, Otmeen believed there would be numerous conspiracy theory concocted in the minds of politicians mind, regardless of how much Morganite and the Special Mage Armed Force insisted that it was a simple matter.
Even she doubted if Dark-Morganite was controlled by humanoid dark beast again, or if someone with malicious intent purposefully erased all the footage to stir up trouble within the authorities...
“Don’t worry, Madam, I will find her.” Morganite said with confidence, but she looked at her superior in concern, “However, Madam, can you guarantee her safety? Will the promise still be valid after all these years?”
The Precaria Gem Squad managed to secure a promise from the authorities almost ten years ago, that if their dark replicas surrendered, they would be accepted as Mages and obtain legal identity as ordinary citizen. Unfortunately, they hadn’t managed to inform their replicas about this news before they were killed by their master.
After almost ten years, the once young and naive Mage had grown into an adult who no longer believed in fairy tales. She could feel the repelling force emitted by the FayOra Stone bonded to her; she was one step closer to retirement. She doubted whether the politicians and superiors in the armed forces authorities would uphold the promise they had once made...and worried if the person she considered her sister would be safe as she hoped for.
Otmeen just smile with pride, “I don’t care what they say. As long as the Special Mage Armed Force remain under my control, the promises I made will still hold true.”
Otmeen, who was once a Mage, joined the forces after her retirement just so that the girls could continue being the one who believed in fantasies, while she bore the reality owned by adults, as a commander, and as their senior.
“Go, find her, and bring her back.” Otmeen said, patting Morganite’s shoulder, “She should return to the team now after wandering all these years.”
“Roger!” Morganite saluted, grinning, eagerly anticipating the day they would meet again.
