Chapter 16 - Treating her like a child

Bahyun raised his head, and Almandine, who looked as if a dark filter had activated, stood right in front of his bed. She was wearing a simple flower-patterned shirt and jeans, and the bag she held in her hand, with an obvious rectangular shape, hinted that it was the food containers from his apartment. Her eyes, supposed to soften after his four months of effort, were now as sharp as they were when she fought the dark beast. With a magic trick to cover the glow from her hair, her aura seemed fiercer than before…Like a badass queen, as Otsan described.

“Seems like you don’t need any rest, so I suppose you’re not hungry at all. I’m leaving.” With a slightly squinted eyes and a raised chin, Almandine turned around with a marching momentum. She was about to leave when Bahyun nervously rolled out of his bed, trying to grab her hand. Ostan, who had degraded into a background object, cried, “Careful, you moron!” and quickly grabbed Bahyun’s hand with IV drip’s needle attached and pressed that hand to a level below the drip.

“Almandine! You…since you’re already here, why don’t you stay for a while?” Bahyun held her wrist tight, anxiously waiting for her response.

She slowly turned her head around, her eyes studying his sincerity. Then, she let out a humph before putting the bag of food containers onto the nightstand. He sighed with relief, then collapse on the spot due to hunger and jelly-like limbs. With cold sweat on his forehead, he had obviously forced himself to get up just now.

Just as he decided to take a few gasps before lunging himself back onto the bed, Almandine tugged at his underarms, ignoring Otsan’s stunned expression in the background, and picked him up as if he were just a toddler, laying him properly on the bed.

“You remind me to eat well and sleep well, yet you didn’t followed what you said yourself.” Almandine finally softened her expression when she noticed his pale look, “When will the model be finished? Did you get the result?”

“No. It was so close! I just need a few figures to fine-tune it, but I…well, we might get the result tomorrow if we get it right? So…yeah.” Bahyun smile, trying to plead, though he knew Almandine probably wasn’t as angry as he thought she would be since she was willing to sit down here. Well, of course, it could also be because Almandine was always emotionally steady due to her default setting that wasn’t very human…Anyway, it’s great to see her getting angry.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

After staring at him for a long moment, Almandine considered that he had understood his blunder and decided to dismiss the dark filter she had since she knew he had gotten himself into the hospital because of his stupidity, though she still look a bit offended and scornful. Otsan, who was totally ignored as a background image, was very surprised to see that Bahyun’s love interest was a tsundere type, showing her gentle side under twists and turns. He decided to remain silent and observe the live-action drama series.

“You can have your meals after the IV drip, and it just so happens that I made some food suitable for you now.” Almandine said as she arranged the utensils after taking out the food containers, “I’m not going to object to you staying in the office, but I’ll bring you the meals accordingly until you end your sleeping days in the office.”

“Huh? But I don’t want to trouble you…”

“Do you think this could be more trouble than you getting yourself into the hospital?” Almandine glared at him with her clear and fierce gaze.

Bahyun shut his mouth as he couldn’t seem to find any words to counter her question. Well, if she’s going to bring him meals, he could eat regularly and healthily as she would definitely customize the recipe for him. He could concentrate on his job without worrying much, he wouldn’t need to burden his collogues with his lack of self-discipline that got him into the ward, and she could at the same time interact with more people and be more human and less like an “AI”, as he hoped…It benefited everyone, but he didn’t think it was suitable to do so. It somehow felt too intimate between him and her.

But then again, he was the “owner” and Almandine was the “pet”, so they were supposed to be intimate…Or perhaps it was Almandine’s mature appearance that gave him this feeling. It would feel natural if she were just a child…

Yeah, just take Almandine as a nine-year-old child, and everything would seemed just right…

“Sure. Thanks for everything.” A smile that seemed loving and kind, like that of an elder, hung on Bahyun’s face, “But don’t trouble yourself too much, okay? If you still prefer to stay indoors, just stay, I promise I would take good care of myself and won’t repeat the same mistake again.”

Almandine took it seriously, her gaze fixed on Bahyun’s eyes, trying to see if he really meant what he said and if he would keep his promise. Finally, she nodded, “Deal.”

Otson, the backdrop, felt himself a bit redundant in the scene, like an extra bright bulb trying to show its presence. He should be leaving and give space to the loving birds, but it was a rare chance to catch a glimpse on Bahyun’s love interest! So he kept his head low, hoping to remain unnoticed by the two.

Wow, it seems like wedding invitations are going to be delivered soon! Do I need to prepare myself to be Bahyun’s groomsman? Otsan eagerly thought to himself.
