I'm sitting there, watching the miraculous reflection of the two moons on the lake. Blue, red and violet lights brighten the late night sky. After sleeping for a dozen thousands of years, I don't feel like sleeping now. Having nothing to do, I hum to myself; my mind would feel peaceful if not for the noise behind me.
"Please, just one glance." A faint voice from afar, sounds like an old man.
"You can't monopolize this!" A younger voice shouts out, but none answers him.
"He is in our town, you should let us see him!" Another voice...
Why should I care about them? They've been screaming ever since I woke up, or maybe even before that. When the priest was here, he cast some silence magic. Just as he left the cage, I was assaulted with noises from the town folks who wanted to see me. Just one glance was enough for me to understand the situation, and also made the town folks even more noisy.
I wanted to say something to them, but it would probably bring a lot more trouble. They might even treat my words as God's "Order" or "Oracle". If their levels were higher, I'd have used them to escape. But their levels only range between 10 to 20, the best ones are only around 30. They couldn't lift a finger against the dozen Level 60 Holy Knights guarding all the entrances to this lake-side yard.
I keep ignoring their screaming pleas along with the explosion from afar... Explosion? Did they come that far just to see me? I want to turn to look but I refrain from doing so and try to ascertain the situation from the sounds and voices.
"What was that?" "I think it's high rank Fire magic." "Someone in our town can use that?" "The knights use high rank magic on us!"
I'm not sure who said which.. Another explosion comes from behind... judging from the moons' positions, it's probably North. I glance at that direction. There is no road from that direction, just a block of buildings with many windows where people are peeping at me. Some of them are panic due to the explosion just on the other side of the building; some are panic because I look at them. These fanatics...
"Go check the situation! Don't let anyone come near!" The priest shouts the order.
Another explosion comes. The fire flares up for a moment, but I can't see the source of the explosion. About half of the dozen knights rush to the road on the side of that block of buildings, it probably connects to the road on the other side. I turn to the other side where the rest of the knights block the horde of town folks trying to charge into the yard. If these people can walk on water, they'd probably swarm from all 360 degrees. Noticing me looking at them, they break out in tear... Tonight will probably be a really long night...
North of Mirage Lake-town. A few moment ago.
Neon is riding on Vagabond Wolf while casting magic all over the place. The Trap type magic won't have apparent effect on cast, just a magic circle fading away. However, the caster can trigger the trap effect whenever they want. DEX would affect the amount of Trap controlled at the same time while SPI would affect the trigger range and Trap's power.
Although he doesn't have aptitude in Fire Element, that doesn't stop him from using Explosive powder in his trap. This kind of powder will explode upon impact. He would hide them in the ground with Earth-element Trap and trigger them from afar, causing some explosion from a safe distance.
Normally, Trapper doesn't have high mobile. This disadvantage is usually covered by his brother Argon who is a Speedster. This time, he is riding on Vagabond Wolf so he doesn't have to worry about moving around.
The wolf with only 10 STR normally can't move very fast carrying someone, but Rector cast a buff on him earlier so his speed isn't affected by the weight he carries. However, the earthen golden light emits from his body due to the spell's effect makes him look like a moving torch.
"...Ten!" Neon exclaims then leans down to whisper to the wolf. "It'ss e...enough. Letss Move out!" Ten traps is way under his limit, but his Explosive is limited.
Vagabond Wolf doesn't like how Neon speaks, but he can't complain because he can't speak in any audible language. He can understand what others say though.
The alley they are in is ╚(L)shaped. The yard where Origo is is under the '╚'(L), separated by a block of building going all the way to the lake; thus, from that yard, the knights would have to go all the way to the "top" of the '╚'(L) in a ∩(Upside down U)shaped route. This alley is a kind of dead end. However, this is the only place near where Origo is but one will have to go a long way from there to reach here, a perfect place to plant distraction.
As they run out of of the alley toward the North, an explosion can be heard from afar as the furthest trap suddenly explodes. Vagabond Wolf flinches a bit but he doesn't stop running.
"Ssso thiss iss my range limit." Neon speaks to himself.

One after another, his traps explode. As he gets out of a trap's control range, that trap dismisses itself. However, the explosive powder are physical object so they won't simply disappear. As the ground around the powder reforms, the pressure from the ground alone would trigger the explosive. Further more, the Rawn in the powder itself carries enough Fire element energy to cause a huge fiery explosion without an actual Fire.
"No Exp.. No one got hurt." Neon mumbles after the tenth explosion.
Unfortunately, the explosions happen too early. Attracted by the disturbance, some of the Holy Knights guarding nearby have already appeared the other end of the alley.
"Charge! Do not turn left!" Neon shouts. The left alley would lead to one of the main roads connecting the lake-side yard and north of town. Their plan was to attract the knights to come from that way, they just didn't expect there would be a knight in their escape route.
The distance from them to the lone knight is only a few dozen meters. Vagabond Wolf tries to accelerate and plans to jump over the knight's head. There is 30~35 levels different between them, fighting was no longer an option.
"O the Holiness of the World,..." Light gathers on the tips of the knight's fingers as he points his index and middle finger toward Vagabond Wolf. "...to protect the Origin from all harms,..." Using the glowing fingers, he quickly draws a glowing white rune. "...I command, Dispel!"
The golden earthen glow on Vagabond Wolf's fur suddenly turns white, forming countless light particles flying away as the buff-effect leaves his body. Without the buff, Neon's weight slows him down considerably. His speed is no longer enough to jump over the knight's head without being slashed a few hits.
The knight charges forward with his sword. Although his level is high, he doesn't seem to have much Speed. However, not wanting to take the risk, Vagabond wolf makes an acrobatic 180 degrees turn. He jumps slightly toward the left alley, glancing at the group of knights running from that direction before kicking the wall of that alley to jump and run back to the mess that the explosions made.
"That direction.. It is heading toward the Origin Dragon!" One of the knight exclaims.
"After him!"
Neon turns back to look at the group of knights running out from the alley and chasing after him and the wolf. Vagabond Wolf's speed is greatly reduced due to his weight so the only way to escape was to run back deeper into the dead-end. However, on the other side of the alley is the lake, and Vagabond Wolf confirmed (with head-motion) that he can't swim nor run on water before.
Suddenly, Neon feels the gravity shifts. Turning back to look forward, he notices that Vagabond Wolf is trying to climb onto the building.
"Woof! Woof" The huge wolf barks while trying to climb onto the wall by digging his claws to the windows, starling the resident inside. Although climbing isn't his forte, furthermore he is carrying another burden on his back, fortunately, the building he is trying to climb is relatively shorter than the surrounding.
Neon is startled for a moment. Originally, their job was to distract the knights away from that yard so Argon and Rector can rescue the Genesis Dragon quietly. However, the wolf is trying to lure those knights back into the yard; worse still, putting them into even more dangerous situation. However, hearing the wolf barking toward that direction, he seems to somewhat understand...
I turn my attention away from the explosions to look at the opposite site, the South. There seems to be someone making a mess there as the other half dozen of knight ran toward that direction, leaving only the high priest with me. Was the explosion a diversion to the people in the South?
"Woof! Woof" (Hey Fat face! Help!)
I suddenly hear some barking from the North. Turning over, I see a wolf's head shadow peeks over from other side of the building. Although in the dark, I can't see it clearly, somehow I recognize it as my impudent wolf servant. He hurriedly tries to climb over the wall. Seeing so, the priest instantaneously casts a spell, forming some sort of light barrier around the cage.
Suddenly, another explosion is heard on the other side of the alley. That explosion directly strikes the wolf and flings him into the yard. There are a few silhouettes on the roof but that is none of my concern. I've turned my whole body over. In front of me is a wolf whose lower body is charred black, laying limb on the ground, panting heavily.
The time seems to be slowed. Something is descending from the sky. A flashing. The next thing I see.. a knight in shining armor standing on the wolf's back, in his hand is a spear pierced through the brown fur of the wolf.
[Your servant Vagabond Wolf has died.]
