At the border of the forest, Vagabond Wolf appears. It sniffs at the air in the direction of the town. Its master went that way, and there is no scent of blood (it remembers its master's blood), so that's good. However, a feral monster like it can't just simply enter the town and it has no way to prove its identity.
After thinking for a moment, it concludes that having its master under the protection of humans would be better. There seems to be a commotion inside the town... "Master is sure popular", it thinks. Taking a last look at the town, it returns to its lair in a brown streak.
I'm floating in an endless space of blackness... Did I die in my sleep and automatically dimension-jumped to an empty dimension again? My entire body is numb but I still I try to raise my arms to view.. they're still black-scaled dragon arms with dragon claws at the end, nothing is missing. However, there is something that stick on them. It has dark color like my scale so I can't see it clearly. I move my arms closer to my eyes.. Is that blood?!
I swing my arms forward and scream in surprise, but with my voice the scream sounds just like a dragon's roar. Under my roar, the blood starts.. moving? It gathers to a few lump of blood on my arms and the lumps stretch out. A screaming face is formed on each lump as they writhe. The faces are not human's but look more like animals' or monsters'. What is this, a nightmare? The tingling sensation they make on my arms as they writhe feels so real.
I lower my roar and the blood stops writhing altogether but still shows the scary faces.
"What are you...?" I ask the 'things'.
There is no answer... At this point I'm not afraid of them anymore.. (it's not like I'm scared of them in the first place!) I poke the tip of my index claw on one of them. The face bend down like a mosquito sting on human skin; but I'm covered in scale so it's obviously not the same thing. With my left hand, I tried to wipe them off by rubbing on my right arm from elbow to wrist. I can't touch nor feel the lumps at all. Looking at my left palm, I see nothing in there; as I apply force on them the lumps only sink into my scales then stretch back out.
"Disgusting!" I yell out, and at the same time, the world suddenly turns into an endless space of white like someone just turned on the light. The disgusting dark-colored things on my arms are no longer there.
[It's the soul of the monsters you killed.] A voice rings in my head. It's not the Anonymous System's Voice like before; it belong to someone less cybernetic and much gentler.
"..." I don't know what to say.
[You don't seem to be surprised. By either that or my voice.]
"..." I keep looking around for something in the white world but since I'm floating, I can't turn to look behind. But it becomes unnecessary when something fades into existence in front of my eyes. "Are you.. a pixie?" A small humanoid figure is floating in front of my eyes. However, the figure has no wings.. "Oh right, I'm huge..."
The figure is the same size as other human. I guess she is a female because of the long white hair float freely in the "air". I don't know that for sure because I'm too big to see "her" body clearly but her next words confirmed it.
[I'm the Goddess who governs all Life in this world...]
"I don't care." Should I introduce myself as the Dragon who created this world? Nah, I'm a humble dragon.
[My twin brother is the God of Death...]
"Why are you keep telling me unnecessary information? Tell me what were on my arms earlier!" I yell at the humanoid figure. She frowns for a moment then continue speaking.
[When a living being is killed, its soul will "stick" to the killer and starts haunting the killer. You have to go to one of the Temples belong the God of Death to clean those souls from you...]
"Thank you. Now get me out of here..."
[Your tone is a bit...]
"...please?" I immediately continue. She gives a sigh.
[...Actually those monsters aren't haunting you. They were just scared because you roared at them. Give them some time and they will settle inside you...]
"Are you saying what I killed actually becomes part of me? What a disgusting system this world has!"
[None wants to be a part of others after their death. However because you are technically the heart of the World, those souls would indirectly become a part of the World, existing along with the World.]
"So it wasn't some religious fanatics' fantasy.. However I really dislike being the center of attention."
[That can't be helped. You created it this way, didn't you?]
"Huh? My control over the world was taken away, so..."
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
[You defined Energy's source as "your consciousness".]
"Coming from a consciousness would make Energy be able to become sentience, carrying Life into matter and becoming deities. That way I would have someone do the rest of the job for me while I sleep."
[Yes, I was one of the first Deities born that way. However if we make something else as the Energy's source, it would not produce the same Energy no matter how we defined it. We along with everything made of the old kind of Energy would eventually disappear.]
"It's because you deities didn't want to sacrifice yourself. Now that the world is completed, if I leave, you all would blame me for its destruction!"
[You don't understand! If we had done that, the new source would have been made of your Energy and would also disappear without your existence. Even if it wouldn't, it would be the same as you so there is no point in making it in the first place. We didn't know you would be this irresponsible. It's your fault for being lazy and created the world that way!]
Ah, these 'deities' weren't as smart as I expected. Telling them how to do it right would be useless now since everything has been set.
"You are welcome! Now get out of my sight!" I try to swat the little figure away with the back of my hand. However she doesn't budge when hit and I feel like hitting my hand on something hard. It hurts!
[The system we created based on your memory... Do you think a Lv5 dragon can fight a God? Just obediently accept your duty and you may have a comfortable life!]
I rub the back of my hand with another hand, it hurts so much. It's strange that I didn't lose HP from that.. Huh, 'Obedient'? 'Duty'? I don't like those words!!
"I don't care what happened to this world! I will leave it as soon as I can and let it crumble!"
"W..what did you say?" A strange but familiar voice says.
I open my eyes and blinks a few times and realize that I'm not in the endless space of white. It was like a dream, a telepathic dream.
I'm laying on my back. I feel a bit dizzy but still try to sit up using the support of my left elbow while my right hand grabs a vertical metal bar. A metal bar, huh? Looking around I can see that I'm inside a huge metallic cage. The floor and roof are solid but the four walls are metal bars. It's so huge for human that I could barely wrap my hand and claws around a bar.
There isn't a door, maybe they put me in from the roof. The spaces between each pair of bars are more than enough for a human but I can barely squeeze my arms through. The cage only gives me enough space to lay down and my tail has to bend upward. As I shift my tail and body to a comfortable position, the previous voice speaks up again.
"As I thought, we should have used this method in the first place..." It's a man's voice.
I turn my head to look toward the source. It's a [Lv60 Holy] man in white robe with golden decoration. I lower my head to look at him closer but he doesn't seem to be intimidated. If I could breath fire, I would burn him to crisp! On a second thought, he might actually like it...
"We was supposed to bring you back and lock you up in your Temple where you will never be in any danger again. However..." He pauses and raises an envelope in his hand. It looks like typical mail envelope with wax-seal. "...You have somewhere to go first."
Manifold. Deities' Realm. Neutral Domain. Meeting Hall.
There is eleven deities present. The Goddess of Life hasn't came back from her visit on the Origin Dragon. She isn't really absent as technically she is still sitting on her seat. The Projection puts her on a different side of the Manifold where she can telepathically contacts the Origin Dragon. Only those deities who Inherited Law of Space can see her now.
"She told us to start the meeting. She wants to talk to 'him' again after she calm down." The deity with System Voice says. S/he is Omnipresent so the Life Goddess used her to send the message.
"How could we start without her? Wasn't this meeting supposed to be about 'him'? Without her report, how could we discuss?"
"That's the only thing you think about? She needs to calm down, it means she is mad at 'him'! That's enough discussing, just lock him up."
"'He' is interesting. Being able to anger a calm and gentle God."
"Don't say that in front of 'him'." The System Voice says.
"Are we still talking about the Origin Dragon? He is but a mere dragon."
The meeting becomes heated by the worse tempered deities. Life and Time deities are quietly watching Energy and Space deities argue with each other...
