Record 002: Rules

"Um, what is this?!" I think to myself. I want to scream but I can't. The reason is... the dimension I am in is completely Empty! An endless void of blackness (not like I can see that). There is no air to transmit sound. And on top of that, I HAVE NO BODY! Okay, that's a bad pun...

I'm currently existing as mere consciousness. No mass. No physical body. No distinct form. I can still "sense" things around me, but there is nothing to sense. Even no "vacuum". Just, nothing.

After calming down and recalling my past memory, I know that I got into this situation in many incarnations before. Most of the time when I jump to another dimension, I just stumble upon a flourished dimension where I can enjoy it immediately like instant noodle. But an empty dimension likes this has nothing, even physical laws. Nothing can exist like that except those like me.

Anything which could exist here can manipulate everything by their thought alone (if they have one). Some 'people' try to explain that ability by Quantum physics or some magical gibberish. I don't understand it either, nor I care to understand it.

What should I do now? Since I'm only seeking fun, and there is nothing here, the logical conclusion should be jumping into another dimension. However...

It has been a while since the last time I created a whole new world. Actually, in my previous incarnation, I used to work as a game-developer so I can say I helped creating worlds.

Making a detailed and stable world would take time, like, billions of years (if I bother creating Time), and I don't have 'time' for that. However, with my experience in creating worlds before, I know how to simply make up some basic rules for the world to create itself. Then I could just go to sleep and I'd be waken up by a completed world. It's like planting a seed without knowing what it was and only know when it bears fruit. I also love being surprised (or not) and I wouldn't feel the passage of 'time' during sleep anyway.

After considering all the gain and loss, I decided to make a new world here.

Let me remember how to do it... hmm... First would be... Energy. I'll call it 'Mana', another word for Magical Energy, this time because I'm in mood for a Fantasy world. Its source will be my consciousness. I could simply bulk-create an universe filled with Energy, but most of the time, it'd end up as Chaos: A world filled with Creation and Destruction, happening over and over again. I don't want to be waken up with being sliced to two halves. My experience told me that a steady flow of Energy would do a better job. Law of Energy, done.

After making up Energy, I "feel" it start appearing from my consciousness like a white-hole. However, it clogs up the singularity where my consciousness is. Ah right, I need a 'container'. Next, I make up Space. A simple infinitive-side Relativity Space (Gravity included). Time has already existed in this world so the Energy starts flowing out like a waterfall, filling up the empty dimension. At first it flows out so fast, I get dazzled in sensing them, feeling like getting lost in a flood. After the space around me is saturated with Energy, the flow slows down and eventually becomes a stable flow. This is good enough. Law of Space, done.

The concept of Time here is weird... Without time, I'd be Frozen; but there was Time, so I could make up new rules. After making up Space. I make up Time. Time stretches into the past, becoming the exact same 'Time' as earlier. I sneak a peek at my past self then check what my future self would do next. Don't question the logic here. Law of Time, done.

Let's see, next would be Matter. The smallest form of matter is particles. I wonder why other dimensions have so many different particles making up matter. I'd make it simple. I name the one and only particle of this dimension: Rawn. Don't question my naming sense. It's 'Raw' becomes Rawn. Mana that become condensed would become Rawn. E=m*c^2, duh. The formula I used is simpler, though.

Just as I make up the rule for mana to turn into matter, rawn starts to form where my consciousness is. Oh, I finally get a new body. Based on a fuzzy imagination, I manipulate the rawn into form: a reptile, fours limbs, scales and claws plus horns and wings... a dragon. Dragon is cool. I give it two hearts to double the coolness before I remember something: Vital organs need detailed rules about how they work. That's too troublesome, I will push that work to someone else. For now this body is just a shell.

With my body (shell) finished, I drive Mana out to stop it from condensing inside me. It condenses into Rawn around me, floating aimlessly. With Gravity in Law of Space, the rawn particles attract each other, stick together and slowly grow.

These Laws are stable. They won't disappear with my consciousness maintaining them. However, the world isn't done yet. It's far from completed. I made up these three Laws only to ensure the existence of consciousnesses other than me.

Someone else will have to create every single minute details of this world. I make up the Fourth Law: The Energy formed from my consciousness will also carry simple consciousness from me into the Rawn formed from it. I suddenly sense countless tiny life around me. They are cute, but they can't do anything on their owns. The Gravity will stick them together. The best combination will grow while the worse will diffuse. Those masses of Rawn will evolve to become the first intelligent life-forms, I'm going to call them Deity. It will take awhile for the first Deity to appear so I let the Deity freely take control of the Laws so I can sleep in peace.

Content with what I did, I relax and let the Sleepiness claim me.
