Chapter 17: Dungeon

~Sigh~

“Yeah, you´re right”

“Why don`t we have anything to do!”

Somehow, three members of the Raven guild where sitting on top of the wall when they heard something they didn´t expect to hear, well at least not so soon after the city was conquered. What they heard where shouts like

“Hey, try to hit one”

“I`m trying to, I’m trying”

“ouch, that was me!”

“Sorry, my bad”

“Damn you little critters, stop jumping around so much”

“Ouch, this shitty creature just bit me”

After hearing that the mage pointed at them and said: “hey do you want to have some fun?

“Yeah” was the answer of the warrior

“I almost died of boredom” was the answer of the rouge that stood up and stretched.

“Hey guys, do you want some help at leveling?”

Who approached them was the mage

“Well, and who might you be, asked the one with the spiky hair

“I´m Avore, and the rogue there is called Usku and this guy is Noelt.”

“Hello, I’m Neuron and this is Kyle” answered Neuron, bashing in the conversation: “and yeah we really appreciate the offer”

Whisper:

“hey think a bit”

“Why, look at that beauty, and to boot, I never talked with any other player other than you, so this could be some chance to hear info’s, and leveling up is inside her offer too”

At this barrage of reasons Kyle just had to accept, not without a warning of course”

“Good, I get it, but stay alert, in this game nothing is for free, especially not from players, just remember in this game you can be everything”

Whisper End:

*They are apparently discussing something, I bet about joining us or not.*

“good, but could you tell us where this leveling is taking place?” asked Kyle

“In a dungeon, not so far from here” answered Usko

“So, and what level are the Mobs inside

At this Noelt replied:”Well the critters are level 10 with the boss being 15

“So what level are you three?”

Avore “14”

“Usku “16”

Noelt “15”

So with that being cleared they both were invited and the newly formed party headed for the dungeon, but what Avore said didn`t prove true, as they walked for nearly half an hour, till they reached the hole in the ground. When entering a message appeared

* You have entered Goblins lair

Upon entering, the three of them kept back, with the reasoning, that they would jump in if need arises, and Avore said, that she’d heal them.

And now, while both of them where fighting they had a discussion.

Avore “look at that knight, how he slashes his weapon around”

Usku “Yeah, and the archer can`t hit, he`s crap”

Noelt ”What’s that? Somehow the archer made a thread coming out from his stomach”

Avore “Cross”

“Usku “look, the thread goes through the goblins”

Avore “What was that?”

Noelt “He pulled the thread, and all goblins connected with it fell down”

And like that the conversation went on till

Noelt “I think they are getting better”

Usku “Yeah me too, somehow it looks like they are finally fighting together”

Avore “nah, come on, they just left the city, we saw them fighting rabbits, they are total Newbie’s”

But those two where right,

They both trained fighting for a long time inside the city, and now they could finally try out their moves on real targets, naturally at first they fought individually, but inside the Goblins nest, where they fought higher level opponents, well only higher level wise, because they both boosted their stats with training. And with the endangerment of their own lives, they had to fight together. Well the danger was there, but not as much, because the other three where there helping them out.

Avore healed them, (not as good as she could), and the other two only jumped in to prevent some fatality, but other than that they let Kyle and Neuron fight on their own and leeched on the EXP. But they didn´t waste any thought on it, basically Neuron and Kyle never noticed, because they were too distracted by the goblins

When the party finally arrived at the boss chamber both of them gained another 3 Levels.

Before the fight began Kyle said to Neuron:” give me your gear, I’m going to repair it”

“Sure, well are you three going to help us fighting the boss?”

Avore “Just do what you can, when it gets too hard we`ll help you”

She said that, but she had no intention to help, because they were inside this dungeon before, and after fighting the boss for a bit they retreated, because it had a real nasty ability, what those two clearly didn’t know about.

Neuron: “Good, so how about it Kyle?”

“Sure let’s go”

And with that they entered the boss chamber.

“Hey Kyle look at the floor, its full of bones”

“Wow, those look like goblin bones and there are human ones too.”

“How do you recognize them?”

“Just look at the skulls”

“Ah, you’re right”

Now they could finally see the boss, it was a goblin as tall as a human showing them its back, but it was natural for him to be this tall, because he was fat, really fat, his name fitting too, somewhat and apparently he even chomped down something.

“Hey Kyle did you see his name, and what the fuck is he eating now?”

“The Glutton, yeah it fits really well. I don`t know, rather I don`t want to know what he eats, he has terrible Table manners though, well let’s just ATTACK!”

After shouting that Kyle charged forwards, but Neuron could only laugh, because he knew, that Kyle couldn`t literally attack.

Usku “Hey, why is the archer laughing after hearing his friend shouting attack?”

Noelt: “dunno”

Avore “well he’s an idiot, why wasting the first strike”

But his shout worked somewhat, meaning the Glutton attacking him and not vice versa

Now the battle went on nicely, Kyle blocking The Gluttons movement, while Neuron was firing arrows at every body part he could see, and there were plenty of it. The fight went rather smoothly, till his health was down to 50%. At this time Neuron noticed the oversized Goblin making a really sick face and then

“KYLE DODGE!”

Kyle leaped to the side, and when he looked at the place where he stood before, there were no bones anymore.

“Hey, what happened, the whole floor is covered with bones, why is the only clean part there, where I stood moments ago?”

“Ähhm, he tried to puke all over you, and it appears, he pukes acid”

“What!, Puke! Gross! so that does it, I’m not going to fight him upfront anymore”

“You sure? You can`t attack you know!”

“Well, there is a hole in that rule, when a monster attacks me; I can attack it back, till its dead or forfeits.”

After hearing this, the Mage, Warrior and Rogue had question marks appearing all over their face.

Avore “Do you know what he means?”

Noelt “No”

Usku “Me neither, but let’s just enjoy the fight.”

“Hey Kyle, you sure, you know it’s just going to aggro him”

“Do it” He cried, while evading another stream of puke “Am I in the wrong game here?!”

“Ah yeah, now that you mentioned it, let some of the puke hit you, maybe it will attract some Goblins”

“Are you an idiot!?, first it’s too disgusting, and second why the hell should we attract more goblins!?”

“Ah, you’re right, so well here goes”

Avore “I can´t believe those idiots arguing in a boss battle”

Usku “let them, it’s funny!”

Noelt “It sure is”

After Neuron pondered for a while he made a deep breath and shouted “Hey you fat abomination, your mother drags catapults towards Gondor”

“Hey Neuron nice thought off”

Usku “Oh, I so gotta remember that!”

Noelt “classic”

Of course the goblin didn`t understand the meaning of those words, but coupled with Neurons Swear skill he somehow managed to get the meaning and roared charging straight towards Neuron

Avore “How is it possible for a mob to understand terms from outside this game?”

Usku “Stop thinking over the little details and enjoy the show”

Noelt “Yeah, this is going to be fun, look, The Glutton is now agro”

When the Glutton was near Neuron dropped his bow, drew his axes, then jumped over his head, landing on the same and hacking away at its face, while Kyle appeared behind it to work on the Gluttons back. The Glutton noticing, that this would be his end trashed around and managed to get rid of Neuron. After he landed Neuron performed a backward roll jumped up again and made a thread connecting with one of the arrows sticking out from the Gluttons chest, and because at this moment he showed him his back the thread went through it. Now Neuron pulled with all his might, but the Goblin didn´t move a meter, he just turned around. And this particular motion exerted a powerful effect on Neuron.

The Glutton was really fat, and while turning around on the spot he pulled on the thread, and since Neuron didn`t react accordingly he was spun around and landed face first on the wall. After regaining his senses, which took time, but the goblin wasn`t the broadest bulb, so he couldn`t understand what happened and stayed there looking at Neuron, while drool run down his mouth corner. After regaining his senses Neuron was really mad and threw his whole arsenal at it. The throwing knives and shuriken all hit home. While this barrage hit the glutton, Kyle appeared from behind and performed a shield bash aiming at the back of his head. Which made him finally disappear.

Usku while coming over with the rest of his group ~Clap Clap~ “Wow, that was a great fight, and now to distribute the loot”

Kyle “Distribute the loot? You three did nothing to help”

Neuron “really, I never noticed?”

“You should, it is your live after all”

“Ähm sorry, and so like this, we`ll take the loot of the glutton, you can have the rest”

Avore “Oh no, we`re taking everything, and if you don`t cooperate your lives will be forfeit”

After this declaration both of them could only stand there with their mouths agape

“Do you see Neuron, I told you not to trust them”

“Yeah, but what now?”

“Hmm, well what other to do than to fight, who would you like to face?”

“Well, the Warrior seems like a pain with all that armor, but the rouge seems easy”

“What about the mage?”

“Ah, yeah I’ll take her on too”

“You sure, she hasn`t shown us what she`s capable of”

“Ah, Mages are all squishies, some arrows and she`s history”

“True”

While Neuron and Kyle chatted the others could only listen with stunned expressions

Avore “What, …… How, ……. Why are they so calm?”

Noelt “They sure got balls”

Usku “Ok, let’s do how they want”

Avore “OH; I`m so gonna enjoy killing them, just so you know, I AM NOT SQUISHY!”

After that they dashed out to start the fight.

Noelt “Wow, two Knights fighting each other, this sure will be some fun”

Kyle “Ähm I am not a knight, but o well”

Noelt “So, now come attack me”

Kyle “Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to be attacked”

Usku *creep* “as you wish”

After that he activated his dash ability appearing right before Kyle and slashing at him with his giant sword, but Kyle lifted his shield, that glowed in a purple light and with a loud bang both of their weapons met. After this clash, Noelt let out a shout of pain, while Kyle activated Disarm swinging his sword down at Noelt`s who let it drop, then Kyle kicked the sword wide away from him. Now being disarmed, Noelt couldn`t attack anymore and soon met his end in a pathetic way.

While diving to get his weapon Kyle impaled him with his sword. After this Kyle turned around to look for Neuron. And now was his turn to be stunned.

As soon as the fight began, Neuron shot arrow after arrow at the mage, when the rogue finally was near him he activated jump, and leapt high over him without stopping to shoot arrows at the mage, which soon died, because of the barrage of arrows she couldn´t even cast a spell finally showing what she`s worth. Then he could focus entirely on the rouge. This fight was a bit tricky for him, because Noelt was specialized in speed, and thus managed to duck his arrows, but what he couldn`t dodge where the threads, that formed all around Neuron, after he threw all his shurikens high in the air, making him stumble. When Usku met the Ground, Neuron was over him with his axes in the ready and hacked away at him like a woodcutter who for some reason hasn`t hacked wood for a long time and thus being in a frenzy.

What Kyle saw was Neuron, hacking away at the rouge like a madman, till he died.

After whipping the sweat and blood away Neuron approached Kyle “This sure was fun”

~Grin~ “Yeah, now let’s; hey wait, you have a read diamond on your face”

“Yeah you too”

“Damn, now where Player killers, we can`t go back in town, the whole guild would lynch us”

“Yeah, shit, I got +100 Infamy!”

“I got fifty, Neuron, are you now wanted?”

“No, 40 more Infamy to go, and you?”

“Well I am wanted now; my Infamy is 10 points higher than my fame”

“Damn, those three brought us more trouble than they were worth”

“Ok, nothing to do, other than to begin your quest, this mark won’t disappear for a while”

“Hmmm, let’s just look at the loot; there should be something, if they wanted it so much” and after identifying everything “Shit, nothing usable there”

What they found in the pile of loot, was mostly trash, some meat that no one wanted to take because they fought against who it belonged too. And a wooden wand that apparently belonged to the mage. Just to be sure Neuron identified all the loot they gained, from the players and the Goblins, but everything they had looted was just half destroyed weapons and meat, that of course stayed on the ground.

From the players he took: a knife from the rogue, the sword from the warrior and a ring that boosted Mana recovery that the mage dropped.

“Neuron, do you mind if I take all of the weapons”

“No, you can also have the ring if you want, I don`t need it. But what now, I wanted to at least say goodbye to Warnton and Brairan”

“Yeah, I want to see off Master”

“So you wait outside while I sneak in”

“Why do I have to wait?”

“Do you have stealth? Can you climb? And above all, who is wanted”

“No, and no, but we can argue about the last part; Smiling Chinese” Kyle said resignedly but with a smirk

“Good, then let me do it”

“Hey, I know that look, you plan something else”

“What?” at that he turned around to hide his expression.
