Chapter 25

I fired the gun and looked at the target, I had accidentally shot twice, the first bullet landed on a five and the second landed on a two. Nearly missing a shot completely pissed me off, I took a stronger grip from the handle and bit my lip.

"Nice shot, pretty boy!"

The neighbor on the left yelled and laughed afterwards. I quickly took a look at his target, he only got twenty three points.

"Worry about your own shooting before you comment others, mister!"

I yelled to the neighboring man and took aim again. I also realized that the more times you shoot the faster the target moves, that system is just pointless and dumb, it could move fast from the beginning but apparently that's too much to figure out.

I tried to focus to get a perfect shot, it wasn't going to be easy. three bullets left and I had to get at least eight points to be qualified. I began thinking about the precise shooting and realized that I really didn't need to be that focused since I only needed eight points.

"Actually... Screw it."

I said out loud and shot three times without thinking, I looked at the target and all the bullets landed on threes, it meant that I was qualified.

"Eh, that's alright."

I thought and shrugged it off and tossed the gun on the table. Now I had to wait until the others were finished with the shooting. I sat on the table and picked up the gun and looked at it. While looking up I began remembering my father, he taught me the basics when handling a gun, such as reloading and maintaining. This gun was the newest model but it looked a lot like the one my father used back in his days as a sheriff.

"alright! everyone has finished shooting! Get back to your partner and we will check out who is qualified and who is not!"

The announcer yelled, it startled me.

I began looking for Arthur in the break area, he was no where to be found once again. I didn't want to waste my time trying to find Arthur so I sat down and waited for him. I leaned back and leaned my head all they way back to see the shooting range behind me, that made me remember that I didn't take my gun back. I pulled my head back and got up, as I was getting up Arthur stood in front of me lending my gun back to me.

"I think you forgot something."

He said as he was lending the gun. I was scared shitless by that.

"You scared the shit out of me! How the hell did you get here so fast?!"

I asked, I also quickly snatched the gun back and put it back to it's holster.

"Fast? No, you're just blind. As you got here I was in the shooting range retrieving your gun."

Arthur said and sat down. I was still confused.

"But I was looking into the shooting range! I would have seen you!"

I said and demonstrated how I would have seen Arthur.

"Nope, as you leaned your head back I was in a blind spot where you couldn't see me.

Arthur said and pointed at the gates to the shooting range. I felt stupid.

"Oh, that's true."

I answered as I was trying to figure out the blind spots.

"Yeah, so when is the next competition going to start?"

Arthur asked and smiled.

"You just want a drink, you alcoholic bastard."

I said and checked the time.

"I just want this to end already. I have seen enough of festivals for now."

Arthur said. In the distance I saw that the last competition was being set up, it was nearly done but needed some polishing.

"Check it out, Arthur."

I said and pushed him a bit. Arthur turned to look at the competition and smiled.

"Soon."

Arthur said. The announcer was walking around with a clipboard, I assume it had the names of the participators and teams on it. He took a look at the clipboard and looked around and then marked something on the clipboard. Then I realized that he came us.

"Which one of you will participate in the drinking competition?"

He asked us. I pointed at Arthur and Arthur pointed at himself with a grin on his face.

"Alright, that would be fifty dollars to participate."

He said and lend out his hand. Arthurs grin vanished in an instant, he still paid though. After paying he looked a little grumpy.

"They just had to make us pay for the drinking competition."

Arthur said with a mad voice. I stood quiet and looked at the announcer when he walked around the place. he eventually took out a megaphone to inform us.

"Alright people, those who participate in the drinking competition head to the area designed for that, that area would be the one behind me."

The announcer said and pointed behind him. Arthur got up from his chair and began walking to the area.

"Good luck with that, Arthur."

I said to him, he turned and gave me a thumbs up and smiled.

"Got it."

He said and turned back to face the area. He seemed really happy to participate in this, of course he was.
