Climbing the hill was rough for everyone and some even just quit because of how difficult it was, it wouldn't have been so difficult but the people from the audience were ruthless with the items that they threw. We were nearly halfway through the whole route after we had climbed the hill, of course there were more obstacles ahead of us. There was the halfway line ahead of us and the announcer was there too.
"You guys have officially ran half of the whole route! Keep it up!"
The announcer said and waved a flag. There was a table with water bottles next to the line. I quickly took two and threw Joy one of them. As I we ran and drank, I realized that we were the first to reach the halfway mark. Right behind us was the guy with the spiky log, they were wrapped in a light brown hooded cloak so no one was really sure what they were. All we knew was that they were fast and that they were hurt, we could see blood dripping from their hands and legs, the wounds that the spiky log had caused were very visible since blood was dripping out of them. We only had to worry about splinters but that was nothing compared to the spiked logs.
We continued to run like normally but suddenly the log began tilting from behind. I turned to look what was going on and saw that I was dragging the log while Joy was grasping on it, his legs were being dragged on the ground.
"The hell are you doing?! Get up you bastard!"
I yelled to Joy and kicked him. He only lifted his head.
"I can'ttt... I can't go onnn anymoreeeee... It's too rough"
Joy whined and refused to stand up.
"You're the reason why we are doing this in the first place! Get up and get through it like a man!"
I yelled and kicked him again. He was trying to get up, it was depressing to see how hard he made that look. He finally managed to get up and continued to move, slowly. The cloaked person had barely managed to bypass us so we had to speed up a little, of course Joy made speeding up seem like an impossible task.

"C'mon already! If you keep messing around this much we are gonna fall behind you moron! Now man up and survive till the end!"
I yelled to Joy and smacked his hand which was the hand that supported the log, it caused Joy to pull his hand away making the log tilt an awful lot which caused the log to basically be only carried by me, I was pulling and holding on the log for dear life. Joy got the hint and finally began helping again.
"That was nearly it, y'know that?"
I asked Joy and he didn't even bother looking at me, what a bastard.
The end line was getting closer and closer and the audience was running out of stuff to throw. We were slowly but surely getting to the end and so were the others, they even began running like their lives were on the line. Good thing that we were on the second place which would mean that we were going to be qualified if we make it to the end.
The closer we got the more began seeing different traps and holes on the ground to try and make us fail, the announcer saw this and stood up.
"Forgot to mention! In the last 150 meters of the race there will be traps and holes! Falling into an hole will instantly disqualify you and your buddy from the competition!" The traps are there to make your lives more harder! Good luck and hopefully you guys survive!"
The announcer yelled and sat back down.
We could see that the people behind us were pushing each other into the holes and traps, its good that there were nearly no one around us except the hooded person who was many meters Infront of us and nearly in the goal. We had to speed up to catch up to them so the others won't get the second place if we can't get the first place.
The audience was granted more items since we had got so far in the race, the items that they were granted were different that what they had before but that won't be a problem since the goal was so close. The hooded person got tossed with spiky balls and tomatoes, funny.
Others were catching up to us so we had to push through like our lives were on the line, of course Joy wasn't really happy with this. The audience was tossing stuff at us and had no plan to stop but we finally got to the goal and got to toss the log away.
"Great you two! Take a small break, you will attend the shooting competition after the others get qualified or lose."
A woman said and guided us to a area with tables and chairs for people to sit on, good that there was a great view to the race so we could enjoy watching it while resting.
"Get ready, Joy. Its your time to shine on the next competition, you better win."
I said to Joy and laughed, he was still gasping for air after running but gave me a thumbs up and laughed a little. After that we enjoyed watching the others win or fail the race, it was fun until the limit for the qualified people was hit, the others were automatically disqualified from the whole festival.
